Chudleigh Abbey was an abbey in Chudleigh, Devon, England. St Bridget's Abbey of Syon had existed since 1415, returning to Spetisbury in Dorset in 1861 after 300 years and in Flanders and Portugal following the dissolution of the monasteries. In 1887 their monastery was built in Chudleigh and they occupied it until 1925 when they moved to Marley House, Rattery (Devon).The building was then converted into 6 residences.

Chudleigh railway station was a railway station in Chudleigh, a small town in Devon, England located between the towns of Newton Abbot and Exeter. The station opened on 9 October 1882 and was met with high expectations. It had one platform, which served the Teign Valley Line. There was a wooden building situated on the Chudleigh side of the line: the River Teign was on the other side. There was a goods siding next to the station. The station was host to a GWR camp coach in 1939. A camping coach was positioned here by the Western Region from 1956 to 1958.The station was busy at peak hours, with commuters using it to travel to Exeter. Chudleigh town centre was over a mile away up the hill. The station closed to passengers on 9 June 1958 when passenger trains were withdrawn from the Teign Valley Line, and goods facilities were withdrawn on 4 December 1967, although for the last two years only coal traffic was handled here. The station was later demolished and the A38 road took its place a few years later. The Chudleigh Flood Platform was a wooden structure on higher ground on the line towards Trusham that was used when Chudleigh station was flooded, this being a regular seasonal occurrence. The only trace of the station is when leaving Chudleigh towards Newton Abbot, the dual carriageway junction is called "Chudleigh Station". The bridge remains in place just after the river bridge.

Ideford (or Ideford Parish) is a village in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) north of Newton Abbot. To the west is the A380 dual carriageway and to the east are Luton and Teignmouth Golf Club. It is home to the Royal Oak pub (owned by Heavitree Brewery), the grade II listed Ideford Church, Ideford Village Hall (a converted school), and the Millennium Green. Stokelake Residential School was in Chudleigh, South Devon. It was classed as the senior school of Pitt House School Ltd and the chairman was Mr. M. C.Spedding who was also Chairman of Torquay United Football Club in the early 1960s. The site was quite extensive, with a main block, dining with TV - cinema room, library, and dormitory block. It had a classroom complex, and large gymnasium as well as its own farm. Stokelake also had an excellent football team. The school held 120 pupils at any one time. Its parental school was Pitt House, at Torquay, which held a further 180 pupils at any one time and another school that was owned by Pitt House School Ltd was Rocklands in Newton Abbot. Stokelake ceased to be a school when it closed down in 1980 and Pitt House School closed down on 15 May 1984.

Ideford Common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest consisting of an area of lowland heath in Devon, England. The site is a habitat for nightjars and Dartford warblers, and is the site of several Bronze Age cairns and a barrow.Ideford and Haldon Forest are nearby.

The River Bovey rises on the eastern side of Dartmoor in Devon, England, and is the largest tributary to the River Teign. The river has two main source streams, both rising within a mile of each other, either side of the B3212 road between Moretonhampstead and Postbridge, before joining at Jurston.The river flows for about two miles northwards from source before turning to a generally south easterly direction. It passes the village of North Bovey, flows through the Lustleigh Cleave between the villages of Manaton and Lustleigh, and then through the town of Bovey Tracey. It joins the River Teign on the boundary between the parishes of Teigngrace and Kingsteignton, about a mile south of the village of Chudleigh Knighton.

Lindridge House was a large 17th-century mansion (with 20th-century alterations), one of the finest in the south-west situated about 1 mile south of Ideford in the parish of Bishopsteignton, Devon, about 4 1/2 miles NE of Newton Abbot. It was destroyed by fire on 25 April 1963 and its ruins were finally demolished in the early 1990s, upon which was built a housing development. The gardens have been restored and are Grade II listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Teignbridge is a local government district in Devon, England. Its council is based in the town of Newton Abbot. The district also includes the towns of Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Dawlish, Kingsteignton and Teignmouth, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Teignbridge contains part of the south Devon coastline, including the Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve. Some of the inland western parts of the district lie within the Dartmoor National Park. It is named after the old Teignbridge hundred. The neighbouring districts are Torbay, South Hams, West Devon, Mid Devon, East Devon and Exeter.
