Crescent Hill Reservoir

Crescent Hill is a neighborhood four miles (6 km) east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky USA. This area was originally called "Beargrass" because it sits on a ridge between two forks of Beargrass Creek. The boundaries of Crescent Hill are N Ewing Ave to the St. Matthews city limit (roughly Cannons Lane) by Brownsboro Road to Lexington Road. Frankfort Avenue generally bisects the neighborhood. The Crescent Hill Historic District, roughly bounded by Brownsboro and Lexington Rds., Peterson, Zorn, and Frankfort Aves., and Crabbs Lane, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Sacred Heart Model School, also known as SHMS, is a coeducational Catholic school for children from Junior Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. It is located in Louisville, Kentucky, and is sponsored by the Ursuline Nuns of the Immaculate Conception. Their current principal is Dr. Michael Bratcher and the president is Dr. Cynthia Crabtree. In both 2001 and 2018 Sacred Heart Model School received the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award. They have a variety of sports teams and clubs as well as an immense focus on their teachings of faith and service. On the same campus is Sacred Heart Academy (SHA), a high school for girls, Sacred Heart School for the Arts (SHSA), and Sacred Heart Preschool (SHP). Ursuline Campus Schools is a small system of schools located on one, 48-acre (190,000 m2) campus on Lexington Road in Louisville, KY. Sacred Heart Academy is an all-girls Roman Catholic high school in Louisville, Kentucky. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. Sacred Heart Academy was founded in 1877 and is a sponsored school of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville. It has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence twice and is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. It first achieved International Baccalaureate (IB) World School status in 1997. It is one of only two schools in the city and the only Catholic school in the state to offer IB.

St. Mark's Episcopal Church is located in the Crescent Hill historic district, on Frankfort Avenue which began as Louisville and Lexington turnpike in the 1850s. The church is located at the corner of Frankfort and Kennedy Avenues in Louisville, Kentucky. The church was founded as a missionary parish in 1891. The parish purchased the lot upon which the church was built in 1895. The first service was held in the new church on June 12, 1895. Today the church is active member parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky.

Highlands Latin School is a private classical Christian school located in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Founded in 2000 by award-winning Latin textbook author Cheryl Lowe and her family, the school currently enrolls 718 full time students in two campuses plus 300 students in a two-day Cottage School.Families wanting a Highlands Latin education near their homes have started more than twenty Highlands Latin Schools across the United States.

Cherokee Gardens is a residential area six miles east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky USA. The area is a collection of small, unconnected subdivisions along Lexington Road and large estates built just outside Cherokee Park. Many of Louisville's early 20th Century elite lived in the area, drawn there by the large, undeveloped parcels of land near downtown. Most houses in the area were built from the 1920s to the 1950s, several being designed by noted Louisville residential architect Stratton Hammon. Cherokee Gardens is bounded by Lexington Road, Cannons Lane, and I-64. As of 2000, the population of Cherokee Gardens was 927.

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) is a Baptist theological institute in Louisville, Kentucky. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The seminary was founded in 1859 in Greenville, South Carolina, where it was at first housed on the campus of Furman University. The seminary has been an innovator in theological education, establishing one of the first Ph.D. programs in religion in the year 1892. After being closed during the Civil War, it moved in 1877 to a newly built campus in downtown Louisville and moved to its current location in 1926 in the Crescent Hill neighborhood. In 1953, Southern became one of the few seminaries to offer a full, accredited degree course in church music. For more than fifty years Southern has been one of the world's largest theological seminaries, with an FTE (full-time equivalent) enrollment of over 3,300 students in 2015.

Boyce College is a private, Christian college located in the Crescent Hill neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. It is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It receives its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

The Masonic Widows and Orphans Home, located in Louisville near St. Matthews, Kentucky, is a historic building on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by the Grand Lodge of Kentucky to support the widows and orphans of Master Masons, but now is open to all senior citizens.

The Crescent Hill Branch Library, constructed in 1908 in Louisville, Kentucky, was one of the first of nine Carnegie-endowed libraries built in Louisville, and is a branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. The building has a Beaux-Arts architecture style created by the Thomas & Bohne architect firm. The west side of the library was added in 1961 and the entire library was renovated in 1988. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 for its architectural significance and the educational impact on the community up to 1924.

The Louisville Academy of Music is a non-profit community music school in Louisville, Kentucky in the Crescent Hill neighborhood. Founded in 1954 by Robert French and Donald Murray, the academy has given over a million music lessons. It originally operated from three rented rooms in Highlands area of Louisville and moved to its current location in 1971.The academy currently offers lessons in piano, strings, voice, woodwinds, brass, guitar, and percussion for students of all ages. The present building on Frankfort Avenue consists of studios, a recital hall, a library and archive that contains thousands of books, records, and files on Kentucky musicians and organizations. The academy has presented more than a thousand programs and has trained over ten thousand students, many of whom have become composers, teachers, chamber music performers and members of major orchestras. Robert French won the 1999 Governor's Awards in the Arts for his work with the school.
