Witham on the Hill is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish was 260 at the 2011 census.

South Kesteven was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Kesteven in England from 1931 to 1974. It was formed under a County Review Order in 1931, by the merger of the Bourne Rural District and the Uffington Rural District. It continued in existence until 1974, when it was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972, going on to form part of a larger South Kesteven non-metropolitan district.

Lound is a village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated about 2 miles (3 km) south-west from the town of Bourne. Originally part of the parish of Witham on the Hill, Lound became part of Toft with Lound parish between 1866 and 1931. Since 1931 Lound has been part of the civil parish of Toft with Lound and Manthorpe . At the time of Domesday Book of 1086, Lound consisted of 18 households, two mills, and a church.Earthworks of the deserted medieval village of Bowthorpe are near the 17th-century Bowthorpe Park Farm.

Vaudey Abbey , also known as Vandy Abbey or Vandey Abbey, was an English Cistercian abbey. It was founded in 1147 by William, Count of Aumale, Earl of York. Its site is within the Grimsthorpe Castle park, in Lincolnshire, 3.7 miles (6 km) northwest of Bourne on the A151, but there are no remains of the Abbey aside from earthworks.The Victoria County History contains a substantial report and a list of abbots.

Toft is a small village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) south-west from Bourne on the A6121. Toft is part of the civil parish of Toft with Lound and Manthorpe. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 333.The village gave its name to the Toft Tunnel on the former Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway (closed in 1959), which ran about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north. This was the only tunnel on that railway, which ran for the most part over the Fens. The tunnel is actually in Lound, though still in the parish. It is now managed as a nature reserveToft Hotel Golf Course is on the southern edge of the village. The East Glen river flows through the village, also to the south. The north of the parish includes the deserted medieval village of Bowthorpe, now a single farm, which gives its name to the Bowthorpe Oak. Although there is no church today, some books about the history of Crowland Abbey say that the patronage of the church in Toft was gifted to the Abbey on the occasion of the start of its re-build in 1113 following the devastating fire of 1091.

Carlby is a small village and civil parish in the district of South Kesteven in Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 542.It is located four miles south of Bourne on the A6121 near the Lincolnshire/Rutland boundary, which is partly the River West Glen. The ecclesiastical parish is Ryhall with Essendine and Carlby, part of the Rutland Deanery of the Diocese of Peterborough. The vicar is the Rev Jo Saunders.The parish church is dedicated to St. Stephen. The current building dates from 1134. It has a medieval wall painting, partially uncovered during restoration work in the 1930s. The village has a playing field and a children's recreational area. In 1986 the villagers replaced the wooden village hall with a brick structure.

Bowthorpe Oak in Manthorpe near Bourne, Lincolnshire, is a gigantic and ancient pedunculate oak in England. The tree has a circumference of about 44 feet (13 metres) and has a hollow trunk, making it the second-widest individual tree in the UK, only surpassed by the significantly older and much less-intact Marton Oak in Cheshire. It is commonly thought to be the UK's oldest oak tree on account of its size, although it is surpassed in age by the 1,200-year old Marton Oak, and the 1,300-1,500 year old King Offa's Oak at Windsor.The tree can be found on Bowthorpe Park Farm. 'Bowthorpe' is the name of a deserted medieval village. The farm offers pre-booked private tours of the tree. The hollow interior of the trunk had been fitted with seats and has apparently been used as a dining room for 20 people in the past. The tree has now been fenced to protect the roots from soil compaction. The oak was selected as one of 50 Great British Trees picked by The Tree Council in 2002 to spotlight trees in Great Britain in honour of the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The Bowthorpe Oak is featured in The Guinness Book of Records and was filmed for a short TV documentary about its size. It also appeared in the 2017 documentary Oak Tree: Nature's Greatest Survivor, hosted by George McGavin about the life of oak trees.It was a filming location for the 2011 film Hollow, directed by Michael Axelgaard.

Scottlethorpe is a village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) north-west from Bourne, and on the A151 road. The village is within the civil parish of Edenham; the local area is part of the Grimsthorpe Castle estate. The modern settlement is a series of cottages and a small terrace of houses extending along Scottlethorpe Lane between the modern village of Edenham and the site of the medieval chapel. Scottlethorpe is mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Scachertorp" within the Beltisloe wapentake, and consisting of 3 households and 1.3 ploughlands. In 1086 the Lord of the Manor and Tenant-in-chief became Robert of Tosny.There were medieval chapels in the area, one at Scottlethorpe, and others wider afield. The remains of the 12th-century chapel at Scottlethorpe survived as part of a barn at Manor Farm. However, the barn doorway might have come not from the chapel, but from Vaudey Abbey, The doorway was moved into Edenham church in 1967.

Manthorpe is a small village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies 0.5 miles (0.8 km) east from the A6121, 3 miles (5 km) south-west from Bourne and 6 miles (10 km) north-east from Stamford. The village is part of the Toft with Lound and Manthorpe civil parish. At the western side of the village runs the East Glen River. At Bowthorpe Park Farm is the Bowthorpe Oak, with the largest girth in the UK. The tree has a circumference of about 44 feet (13 metres).

Edenham railway station was a station in Edenham, Lincolnshire. It was the terminus of a four-mile branch line from the Great Northern Railway at Little Bytham. The line was built and operated by the Edenham & Little Bytham Railway (E&LBR). It was opened on 8 December 1857. The station closed to passengers on 17 October 1871. Freight traffic continued until about 1884, when the line closed.

Edenham ( EDD-ən-əm) is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is approximately 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Bourne, and on the A151 road. While the civil parish is called 'Edenham', the parish council is called Edenham, Grimsthorpe, Elsthorpe & Scottlethorpe Parish Council. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 291.
