Floyd is a town in Floyd County, Virginia, United States. The population was 448 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Floyd County. The Town of Floyd was originally named Jacksonville as the surrounding county was formed during the tenure of President Andrew Jackson. The name was subsequently changed to Floyd for Virginia governor John Floyd.

It encompasses 164 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing object (Confederate Memorial, 1904) in the central business district and surrounding residential areas in the county seat of Floyd. They include residential commercial, institutional, and governmental buildings largely built between 1832 and 1955. Notable buildings include the Phlegar House (1816), Ferdinand A. Winston House (c. 1845), Henry Dillon House (1851), Floyd High School (1913), Horatio Howard Building (1897), Freezer Shirt Factory (1936), and Floyd County Courthouse (1951-1952). The district includes the separately listed Floyd Presbyterian Church and Glenanna.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Floyd Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located on U.S. 221 in Floyd, Floyd County, Virginia. It was built in 1850, and is a one-story, three-bay, brick church in the Greek Revival style. It has a front gable roof topped by a low steeple and octagonal spire. The front facade features four white-painted stuccoed, Greek Doric order pilasters. The church was abandoned by its congregation in October, 1974, and the congregation relocated.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is located in the Floyd Historic District.

Phlegar Farm is a historic home located near Floyd, Floyd County, Virginia. The original log dwelling was built in 1816, and later expanded about 1857 and about 1910. The house is two-stories with a metal sheathed gable roof, weatherboard siding, a stone gable-end chimney, two one-story front porches, and a one-story ell. The interior has Federal and Greek Revival style details. Also on the property are a contributing granary and workshop.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Floyd County is included in the Blacksburg-Christiansburg, VA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Named after Virginia politician John Floyd, the county was established in 1831. The county is located on the high plateau of the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounded by the Little River. In the 1960s and 1970s, Floyd proved popular with people in the era's counterculture, particularly those who wanted to live in closer contact with nature.

West Fork Furnace is a historic iron furnace and national historic district located near Floyd, Floyd County, Virginia. The district includes structural, landscape and archaeological components of a small and well preserved mid-19th-century iron furnace built about 1853. The components consist of the furnace, retaining wall, staging area, head race, wheel pit, tail race, and East Prong of Furnace Creek. The furnace remained in operation until 1855.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Rocky Knob Recreation Area is a 4,500 acres (18 km2) recreation area along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which spans from mile markers 167–174. The park is home to 15 miles of hiking trails, 81 tents camping sites, 28 RV sites, and 72 picnic sites. The campground is open seasonally, typically from May–October. Rocky Knob is also home to Rock Castle Gorge, a 3,500 acres (14 km2) gorge, and home to the Rock Castle Gorge National Recreation Trail. The trail drops 1,000 feet in elevation in 3 miles, and backpackers can request a backcountry camping permit from the National Park Service.
