Fort Mont-Valérien

The Mémorial de la France combattante (Memorial to Fighting France) is the most important memorial to French fighters of World War II (1939–1945). It is situated below Fort Mont-Valérien in Suresnes, in the western suburbs of Paris. It commemorates members of the armed forces from France and the colonies, and members of the French Resistance. Fifteen representative French fighters were buried here in an elaborate ceremony on 11 November 1945. The present memorial was opened on 18 June 1960. It has a wall in which are set sixteen bronze reliefs that represent in allegorical terms the different phases, places and participants in the struggle. At first the memorial made no reference to the victims who had been executed at the Fort Mont-Valérien, which had been frequently used by German forces to execute resistance fighters and hostages. Later a remembrance path was opened linking the crypt to the nearby clearing where the shootings occurred. The memorial is often the site of ceremonies related to World War II.

The Institut national supérieur de formation et de recherche pour l'éducation des jeunes handicapés et les enseignements adaptés or INS-HEA is a public college in Suresnes. It is part of the Université Paris Lumières.INSHEA has its buildings next to the Fort Mont-Valérien, in Suresnes. About eighty Academics train National Education staff in the fields of disability and difficulty of schooling.

The Suresnes American Cemetery (French: Cimetière américain de Suresnes) is a United States military cemetery in the Suresnes, Hauts-de-Seine, France. It is the resting place of 1,541 American soldiers killed in World War I. A panoramic view of Paris can be seen from the site, which is located high on the slopes of Mont-Valérien.

Suresnes (French pronunciation: [syʁɛn] (listen)) is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, Île-de-France. Located in Hauts-de-Seine, 9.3 km (5.8 mi) from the centre of Paris, it had a population of 49,145 as of 2016. The nearest communes are Nanterre, Puteaux, Rueil-Malmaison, Saint-Cloud and Boulogne-Billancourt. Foch Hospital (French: Hôpital Foch) is a hospitsl in the Suresnes, France. It is part of the Établissement de santé privé d'intérêt collectifIt was established in 1929 with the help of Consuelo Vanderbilt and Winnaretta Singer. It was named in honour of Ferdinand Foch.

Suresnes-Longchamp station is a former French railway station on the line from Puteaux to Issy-Plaine (Moulineaux line), which became a tram station on line 2 of the Île-de-France tramway (line T2). It is located in the territory of the commune of Suresnes, in the department of Hauts-de-Seine, in the Île-de-France region. It is also close to the Longchamp racecourse (located in Paris).The station was put into service in 1889 and closed in 1993. It was transformed into a tram station and reopened, like the line, in 1997. Its passenger building was repurposed; it houses the Musée d'histoire urbaine et sociale de Suresnes, opened in 2013. Having become a tram station of the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), it is served by the trains of line T2.

The Musée d'histoire urbaine et sociale de Suresnes (English: Suresnes Urban and Social History Museum) is a museum of France installed since June 2013 in the old Suresnes - Longchamp train station building.Presenting the evolution of the city, it is particularly focused on the social urban planning of the 1920s and 1930s, of which the garden city and the Outdoor School are the most significant examples.The museum was initially budgeted at a cost of €8.3 million for a total area of approximately 1,300 square meters, including the creation of the 220 square meter extension intended for temporary exhibitions. Its final cost is 10 million euros.

The Val d'Or train station is a station on the railway line from Paris-Saint-Lazare to Versailles-Rive-Droite, located in the commune of Saint-Cloud, in the Hauts-de-Seine department of the Île-de-France region. In 1903, the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Ouest launched a halt to serve the Fouilleuse racecourse (now the Saint-Cloud racecourse). The halt took on its current name and configuration in 1911 when it became a station. From 1918 to 1952, it served companies in Suresnes and Rueil-Malmaison, including a military arsenal. In the early 2000s, it was completely renovated, with a new footbridge and facilities that make it a model of accessibility for the disabled. It is a Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) passenger station, served by Transilien line L trains. It is 12.8 km from Paris-Saint-Lazare station.

Hippodrome de Saint-Cloud is a grass race course for Thoroughbred flat horse racing opened in 1901 at 1 rue du Camp Canadien in Saint-Cloud near Paris, France. During World War 1, the race course site housed the No. 4 Canadian Stationary Hospital operated by the Canadian Army Medical Corp. On July 8, 1916 the No. 4 CSH was elevated to the No. 8 Canadian General Hospital and operated until decommissioned in 1919. The facilities were built by politician and Thoroughbred owner/breeder Edmond Blanc (1856–1920) in whose honor the Prix Edmond Blanc was established in 1921. The venue was used for some of the polo events for the 1924 Summer Olympics. The Hippodrome de Saint-Cloud is host to a number of important races including the Group One Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud held at the end of June/first week of July each year, and the Critérium de Saint-Cloud run each November. In 1992, the government declared Hippodrome de Saint-Cloud an official Monument historique.
