La Foret is an unincorporated populated place in El Paso County. It is located near Shoup Road and Colorado State Highway 83 towards Interstate 25. Residents of La Foret generally work and shop in nearby Colorado Springs or Black Forest. Activities in La Foret are primarily centered on the presence of the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center which is located there. The famous Ponderosa Lodge that was built in 1928 by Jacques Benedict and appears on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties is located in La Foret and is now part of the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center.

Black Forest School or Old Log School of Black Forest is a historic school in Black Forest, Colorado. It is a National Register of Historic Places listing and is one of the schools on a multiple submission of "Rural School Buildings in Colorado" for the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties.Between 1922 and 1945 the building was used as a school house, church and community center building. The school closed in 1945. It was a residence for a county worker and his family from 1947 to 1977. The Friends of the Black Forest Log School was formed to save and restore the building. By 2000, the restoration of the school house was completed and, it is now used for community activities and tours.

The Black Forest Fire was a forest fire that began near Highway 83 and Shoup Road in Black Forest, Colorado around 1:00 p.m. on June 11, 2013. As of June 20, 2013, the fire was 100 percent contained, 14,280 acres (22.31 sq mi; 57.8 km2) were burned, at least 509 homes were said to be destroyed, and two people had died. This was the most destructive fire in the state's history at the time, surpassing the 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire which also began near Colorado Springs. It was surpassed in 2021, when the Marshall Fire destroyed over 1,000 homes in Boulder County, in Superior and Louisville.The evacuation area covered 94,000 acres (147 sq mi; 380 km2) acres, 13,000 homes and 38,000 people. Three shelters were established in the area, including Elbert County Fairgrounds, which accepted humans, pets, and large animals. Two other shelters were designated for large animals only. On June 13, the Denver Post reported, 457 firefighters were working the fireline, including agencies around the fire, the Colorado Air National Guard, and select personnel from fire suppression teams on Fort Carson and the nearby United States Air Force Academy. Of note, 3 x UH-60 and 3 x CH-47 from 2-4 GSAB along with some crews from 3-4 AHB (4th Combat Aviation Brigade) were instrumental in providing immediate response to assist in fighting the fires. The Battalion, commanded by LTC Tyler Smith, launched with very little notice to provide much needed support to the Front Range region. One of the CH-47D aircraft "Patches", was involved in the effort on every day. Governor John Hickenlooper addressed Emergency Managers at the command post on June 12. U.S. Northern Command assisted with fire fighting efforts.

Pine Creek High School (PCHS) is a public high school in Academy School District 20 that serves the Pine Creek, Gleneagle, Black Forest, Northgate, Cordera, and Flying Horse Ranch neighborhoods of north Colorado Springs, Colorado. The school opened in 1998.

Liberty High School (LHS) is a four-year public high school in northern Colorado Springs, Colorado, and part of Academy School District 20. It opened in 1987, and in the 2017–18 year, it had an enrollment of 1,650.

The Mad Pooper is the nickname given to an unidentified woman in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States, who repeatedly defecated in public while jogging during the summer months of 2017. While she primarily targeted one family's property, she did not use it exclusively, leaving some of her excrement at other sites nearby. Photographs of her were made public, but neither she nor anyone who knows her came forward with further information that might identify her.Police believed the woman's actions were intentional, since there are several public toilets within a block of the family's house that she could have used. After the case received national media attention, a purported spokesman claimed in a YouTube video that her actions were related to recent medical issues and enjoyed First Amendment protection; however that video turned out to be a hoax. Procter & Gamble offered her a free year's supply of its Charmin brand toilet paper if she turned herself in.After a burst of news media coverage in mid-September, police reported that there had been no further reports of the woman defecating in public, although she had not been identified. A few commentators speculated about her possible motives. One believed she might suffer from Crohn's disease; another, in Psychology Today, proposed that she was an exhibitionist with poor impulse control taking revenge on the family who had caught her.

Black Forest is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Colorado Springs, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of the Black Forest CDP was 15,097 at the United States Census 2020. Both the Colorado Springs post office (Zip Code 80908) and the Elbert post office (Zip Code 80106) serve the area.The Black Forest is named for a dense stand of Ponderosa Pine in the area. In 2006, residents voted against a proposal to incorporate as a city.

The J.G. Evans Barn is a historic barn on Hodgen Road in Black Forest, Colorado. It is a two-story wood-frame structure measuring 46 feet (14 m) by 60 feet (18 m), and is a typical Midwestern three-portal barn. It was built in 1885 by John Evans, an Iowa native who moved to the area in 1884. It is one of the few remaining barns from the early settlement and development period in Black Forest.The complex is located in the hilly landscape with pine trees and includes the barn building, a windmill with missing blades, and a metallic tank. It is currently disused.The barn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

KVOR (740 AM, "AM 740 KVOR") is a commercial radio station in Colorado Springs, Colorado, serving Colorado Springs and Pueblo. It is owned by Cumulus Media and airs a news/talk radio format. KVOR is powered at 3,300 watts by day. But because AM 740 is a clear-channel frequency reserved for Class A CFZM Toronto, KVOR must reduce power at night to 1,500 watts to avoid interference. It uses a directional antenna at all times, with a north-south pattern that covers Pueblo, even though the station's transmitter is located north of downtown Colorado Springs, near Thompson Road. Studios and offices are located on Corporate Drive in Colorado Springs. The KVOR weekday schedule begins with Colorado Springs' Morning News followed by a local late morning talk show hosted by Richard Randall. The rest of the weekday line up is made up of nationally syndicated talk shows: The Dan Bongino Show, The Ben Shapiro Show, The Mark Levin Show, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis, The Chris Plante Show, Red Eye Radio and America in the Morning. Weekends feature shows on money, food, computers, law and religion including Bill Handel on the Law and The Jesus Christ Show with Neil Saavedra. KVOR partners with local TV station KOAA (an NBC TV Network affiliate) for news and weather coverage. Most hours begin with world and national news from ABC News Radio. KVOR broadcasts the Air Force Falcons football and basketball games.
