Twin Oaks Farm

Thomas Methodist Episcopal Chapel, also known as Thomas Chapel and Thomas Chapel United Methodist Church, is a historic Methodist Episcopal church located at Thaxton, Bedford County, Virginia. It was built in 1844, and is a small, rectangular-plan, one-story, one-room, brick structure in a vernacular Greek Revival style. It measures 30 feet wide and 40 feet long, and has a three-bay facade and a pedimented front gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Peaks of Otter are three mountain peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountains, overlooking the town of Bedford, Virginia, which lies nine miles (14 km) to the southeast along State Route 43. These peaks are Sharp Top, Flat Top, and Harkening Hill. The manmade Abbott Lake lies in the valley between the three peaks, behind the Peaks of Otter Lodge and restaurant. The National Park Service preserves the peaks and lake as part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that "the mountains of the Blue Ridge, and of these the Peaks of Otter, are thought to be of a greater height, measured from their base, than any others in our country, and perhaps in North America." Of course this later turned out not to be the case, but not before Virginia had sent stones from the peaks to be its part of the Washington Monument.

Cove Mountain is a wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of western Virginia that has been recognized by the Wilderness Society as a special place worthy of protection from logging and road construction.The wild area includes a seven-mile section of the Appalachian Trail with four miles following along Cove Mountain ridge. There are excellent winter views of Flat Top Mountain, Sharp Top and Peaks of Otter to the east. The area contains the headwaters of prime trout fisheries.The area is part of the Glenwood Cluster.

Thaxton is an unincorporated community in western Bedford County, Virginia, United States. The community is located along U.S. Route 460 between Bedford and Montvale. It is part of the Lynchburg Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Fancy Farm is a historic plantation house located at Kelso Mill, near Bedford, Bedford County, Virginia. It was built about 1785, and is a two-story, five bay brick dwelling in the Late Georgian style. It has a metal gable roof and two interior end chimneys. The interior features original woodwork. The house was restored in 1969–1971. Also on the property are a contributing brick storehouse, a frame kitchen with a stone chimney, and a frame quarters also with a stone chimney. The property features a panorama of the Peaks of Otter. Fancy Farm was used as the headquarters of Union General David Hunter in his Lynchburg campaign during the Valley Campaigns of 1864.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

New Prospect Church, also known as New Prospect Baptist Church, is a historic Baptist church located at 4445 Sheep Creek Road near Bedford, Bedford County, Virginia, United States. It was built in 1880, and is a one-story, wood-frame building painted white and in a vernacular Greek Revival style. It measures 34 feet wide and 45 feet long, and has a low-pitched gable roof. The church has two entrances, one for the men and one for the women and children.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Buchanan ( bə-KAN-ən) is a town in Botetourt County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,196 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was the western terminus of the James River and Kanawha Canal when construction on the canal ended.

The Buchanan Theatre is a historic theater in Buchanan, Virginia. It was built in 1917 and underwent a 1949 renovation in the Moderne style. The brick building is two-storied, with apartments occupying the second floor. The theater closed in 1985 and sat empty until being purchased in 1999 and renovated over the next 18 months. It reopened as a movie house and community theater in 2002.

Wilson Warehouse is a historic combined dwelling, warehouse, and store building located at Buchanan, Botetourt County, Virginia. It was built in 1839, and is a two-story, six-bay, brick building in the Greek Revival style. It measures 54 feet by 48 feetIt was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
