West End, Hampshire

St James' Church in West End, Hampshire is an Anglican parish church in the Borough of Eastleigh. The church building is grade II listed.

Woodlands Community College is a mixed secondary school located in east Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. It was officially opened as a specialist school for science and engineering by MP David Miliband on 26 January 2005. The last Ofsted inspection was in 2019, when the school was judged as Requiring Improvement. but most recent inspection lead to the rating of Good.

The Rose Bowl, known for sponsorship reasons as Ageas Bowl is a cricket ground and hotel complex in West End, Hampshire. It is the home of Hampshire County Cricket Club, who have played there since 2001. It was constructed as a replacement for the County Ground in Southampton and also the United Services Recreation Ground in Portsmouth, which had been Hampshire's homes since 1882. Hampshire played their inaugural first-class match at the ground against Worcestershire on 9–11 May 2001, with Hampshire winning by 124 runs. The ground has since hosted international cricket, including One Day Internationals, matches in the 2004 Champions Trophy, two Twenty20 Internationals and Test matches in 2011, 2014 and 2018, when England played Sri Lanka and India. In 2020, the ground was used as one of two biosecure venues, alongside Old Trafford, for the tours involving West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland which were regulated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to be able to host Test cricket, the ground underwent a redevelopment starting in 2008, which saw stands built to increase capacity and other construction work undertaken to make the hosting of international cricket at the ground more viable. A four-star Hilton Hotel with an integrated media centre overlooking the ground opened in 2015. Following Hampshire Cricket Ltd finding itself in financial trouble in 2011, the lease on the ground was sold to Eastleigh Borough Council for £6.5 million with a benefactor injecting a similar sum in 2012. The Rose Bowl played host to the inaugural final of the 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship between India and New Zealand, resulting in New Zealand being crowned inaugural World Test Champions.During ICC tournaments, the ground is referred to as the Hampshire Bowl due to sponsors names not being allowed.

Moorgreen Hospital was a community hospital in West End, near Southampton. It was managed by Southampton City Primary Care Trust.

Harefield is a suburb and Electoral Ward near Bitterne in Southampton, England. Harefield Ward consists of a small council housing estate built around 1952/3 on the 238-acre (0.96 km2) estate of Harefield House and additional private housing. Harefield Ward had a population of 14,035 at the 2011 Census, and is adjacent to Bitterne Park, Peartree, Sholing and Bitterne wards.

Thornhill is a suburb of Southampton, United Kingdom, situated on the eastern border of the city and bounded by three major roads. According to the 2001 census the population was 11,460. The under 16s represent 23.4% of the population, 5% more than the city figure of 18.2%; the over 65s represent 17.4%, again, higher than the city average of 14.5%.

Moorgreen Meadows is a 14.3-hectare (35-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Southampton in Hampshire.These meadows are important for their populations of the genus marsh orchid, especially the northern marsh orchid, which is not found at any other location in southern England. They grow close to four other marsh orchid species, early marsh-orchid, common spotted orchid, heath spotted-orchid and southern marsh orchid. Hybrids occur in every combination, making the site a centre of micro-evolution.

Southampton, Itchen is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Royston Smith, a Conservative member of parliament. Discounting the Speaker (of the House of Commons) returned in the early 1970s in two elections, local voters have elected the MP from only two parties alternately for various periods, with one party reaffiliation (defection) between elections when the Labour Party split in the 1980s. Since 1987, campaigns in the seat have resulted in a minimum of 26.8% of votes at each election consistently for the same two parties' choice for candidate, and the next highest-placed share having fluctuated between 3% and 23% of the vote. In those recent elections, save for 2015 when UKIP surged nationally, the third-placed candidate has been a Liberal Democrat, whose candidate lost their deposit in the result perhaps uniquely for an English university city seat in 2017, but which takes in far fewer of the university areas than Southampton Test. The seat attracted nine candidates in 1997; three in 1992. Oldest elections in the seat were sometimes a two-candidate contest, as in comparator mid-twentieth century English elections.

Eastleigh is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Paul Holmes, a Conservative.

Netley Common is a 12.8-hectare (32-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Southampton in Hampshire. It is owned by Hampshire County Council and managed by Hampshire Countryside Service.This lowland heath site also has areas of grassland, woods, scrub and gorse. Reptiles include common lizards and adders. A Roman road crosses the site, and there is also a Bronze Age barrow.

Chartwell Green is a suburb of Southampton, England, although it falls outside the formal city boundary. Instead, Chartwell Green is part of the West End parish, within the Borough of Eastleigh. The main parade of shops in Chartwell Green is sometimes referred to as Townhill Farm, after the nearby Townhill Park House. The Townhill Farm Community Centre was built in 1991 and comprises an entrance foyer, toilets, a main hall with adjacent store room, a committee room and adjacent kitchen, and a café area overlooking a patio and garden. The building is owned by Southampton City Council and is on a 125-year lease; until 2006, it was managed by Eastleigh Borough Council but then this task was transferred to West End Parish Council.The bulk of Chartwell Green was built in the late 1980s, and comes under the postal code of SO18 3xx.

Itchen Valley Country Park is a country park in West End, Hampshire, England. As the name suggests, the River Itchen runs through the park, which covers 440 acres (1.8 km2). The park has a number of walks and trails, including an off-road cycling track. There are a number of facilities for children, including a play area and a play trail. The Itchen Way footpath borders the park. The park was awarded the Green Flag award in 2009/10 and 2010/11.
