Woodlands Community College is a mixed secondary school located in east Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. It was officially opened as a specialist school for science and engineering by MP David Miliband on 26 January 2005. The last Ofsted inspection was in 2019, when the school was judged as Requiring Improvement. but most recent inspection lead to the rating of Good.

St James' Church in West End, Hampshire is an Anglican parish church in the Borough of Eastleigh. The church building is grade II listed.

Southampton, Itchen is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Royston Smith, a Conservative member of parliament. Discounting the Speaker (of the House of Commons) returned in the early 1970s in two elections, local voters have elected the MP from only two parties alternately for various periods, with one party reaffiliation (defection) between elections when the Labour Party split in the 1980s. Since 1987, campaigns in the seat have resulted in a minimum of 26.8% of votes at each election consistently for the same two parties' choice for candidate, and the next highest-placed share having fluctuated between 3% and 23% of the vote. In those recent elections, save for 2015 when UKIP surged nationally, the third-placed candidate has been a Liberal Democrat, whose candidate lost their deposit in the result perhaps uniquely for an English university city seat in 2017, but which takes in far fewer of the university areas than Southampton Test. The seat attracted nine candidates in 1997; three in 1992. Oldest elections in the seat were sometimes a two-candidate contest, as in comparator mid-twentieth century English elections.

Thornhill is a suburb of Southampton, United Kingdom, situated on the eastern border of the city and bounded by three major roads. According to the 2001 census the population was 11,460. The under 16s represent 23.4% of the population, 5% more than the city figure of 18.2%; the over 65s represent 17.4%, again, higher than the city average of 14.5%.

West End is a parish in Hampshire in the borough of Eastleigh, five miles (8.0 km) east of the city of Southampton. The village of West End is small and generally classed as an area in the outer suburbs or rural urban fringe of the borough of Eastleigh because of the surrounding woodland and countryside, including Telegraph Woods and Itchen Valley Country Park. The village is mainly known for being home of the Rose Bowl, the stadium where Hampshire County Cricket Club plays, and occasionally England. Aside from a typical number of listed houses, main landmarks of the parish are Moorgreen Hospital — a large, ornate Victorian building, the original St James School, built in 1901, on the high street, and West End Fire Station — a museum in the centre of the village.

Chartwell Green is a suburb of Southampton, England, although it falls outside the formal city boundary. Instead, Chartwell Green is part of the West End parish, within the Borough of Eastleigh. The main parade of shops in Chartwell Green is sometimes referred to as Townhill Farm, after the nearby Townhill Park House. The Townhill Farm Community Centre was built in 1991 and comprises an entrance foyer, toilets, a main hall with adjacent store room, a committee room and adjacent kitchen, and a café area overlooking a patio and garden. The building is owned by Southampton City Council and is on a 125-year lease; until 2006, it was managed by Eastleigh Borough Council but then this task was transferred to West End Parish Council.The bulk of Chartwell Green was built in the late 1980s, and comes under the postal code of SO18 3xx.

Itchen Sixth Form College (also known as Itchen College) is a mixed sixth form college in Bitterne, Southampton, Hampshire, England. It was established in 1906 and was originally a mixed secondary school, it later became Itchen Grammar School under the reforms of the Butler Education Act. It became its present state following further reform in the 1980s.

Townhill Park is a suburb of Southampton, England, bordering Swaythling, Bitterne Park and West End. It is built on land which once belonged to the house which carries the same name.

The Gregg School is a non-selective independent secondary day school for boys and girls in Townhill Park, Southampton, Hampshire, UK, with an associated kindergarten and primary school, the Gregg Preparatory School, near Southampton Common. The main school occupies Townhill Park House and its grounds. It was founded in Southampton in 1901 and has more than 300 pupils and staff. The Gregg School is not a fully academically selective school. Selection is made through an entry assessment and references from the student's previous school.

Bitterne is an eastern suburb and ward of Southampton, England. Bitterne derives its name not from the similarly named bird, the bittern, but probably from the bend in the River Itchen; the Old English words byht and ærn together mean "house near a bend" or possibly bita ærn; "house of horse bits", either most likely a reference to Bitterne Manor House. A reference from the late 11th century spells the name Byterne.Bitterne Ward comprises the suburbs of Bitterne and Thornhill, and had a population of 13,800 at the 2011 census. The ward borders Sholing Ward and Harefield Ward to the west and north.

Townhill Park House is a Grade II listed former manor house between the neighbouring housing estates of Townhill Park in Southampton and Chartwell Green in Eastleigh.

Oasis Academy Sholing, previously known as The Sholing Technology College and, before that, Sholing Girls' School, is an academy school in east Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. The school is for girls and boys aged 11 to 16 years. The school was founded as Sholing Middle Road Girls' School between 1910 and 1912. It became a specialist technical college in 2003, though still remained a girls school. It became an Oasis Charitable Trust academy in September 2018 with a mixed boys and girls entry.
