Enoshima Shrine

Enoshima (江の島) is a small offshore island, about 4 km (2.5 mi) in circumference, at the mouth of the Katase River which flows into the Sagami Bay of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Administratively, Enoshima is part of the mainland city of Fujisawa, and is linked to the Katase section of that city by a 389-metre-long (1,276 ft) bridge. Home to some of the closest sandy beaches to Tokyo and Yokohama, the island and adjacent coastline are the hub of a local resort area.

The Enoshima Sea Candle (Japanese: 江の島シーキャンドル), also known as the Shonan Observatory Lighthouse, is an observation tower and lighthouse located in the Samuel Cocking Garden on the small tidal island of Enoshima in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan. The tower has two observation decks, the primary indoor deck and a secondary outdoor deck. The primary deck can be accessed via a central lift or spiral staircase, while the outdoor deck can only be accessed by a second spiral staircase. Completed in 2003, the Sea Candle was built to celebrate the 2002 centenary of the Enoshima Electric Railway. The Sea Candle was constructed next to the Enoshima lighthouse that was built in 1951. On New Year's Eve 2002, a ceremony took place to transfer the lighthouse duty, after which the old lighthouse was dismantled. The observation decks on the Sea Candle opened to the general public on 29 April 2003.In 2004, the lighthouse was awarded a Good Design Award under the category Architecture and Environment Design – Environment Design.

The Samuel Cocking Garden (江の島サムエル・コッキング苑, Enoshima Samueru Kokkingu En), also known as the Enoshima Tropical Plants Garden, is a small botanical garden on the small island of Enoshima in Japan. The address is 2-3-28 Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa. The garden was established in 1880 by British merchant Samuel Cocking (1842–1914) as the Enoshima Botanical Garden, and featured a greenhouse (660 m²) in which he collected tropical plants. This original greenhouse was destroyed in the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. When in 1949 title passed to the city of Fujisawa, no trace of the greenhouse was found. However, in 2002, during reconstruction work, its brick foundation and original heating plant and boiler were discovered. In April 2003, a restored greenhouse was opened as part of the new garden, and as of 2004 had some 500,000 visitors per year. Garden features include camellia trees and the Enoshima Sea Candle, a large lookout tower (59.8 metres, about 200 feet. Mount Fuji can be seen from the top on a clear day.)

Shōnan-Enoshima Station (湘南江の島駅, Shōnan-Enoshima-eki) is a monorail train station on the Shōnan Monorail Enoshima Line located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the southern terminus of the Shōnan Monorail Enoshima Line and is located 6.6 kilometers from the northern terminus at Ōfuna Station.

Ryūkō-ji (龍口寺) is a temple of the Nichiren Shū in the city of Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It stands on the site of the former Tatsukuchi (or Tatsunokuchi) Execution Grounds, and its name uses the same two kanji meaning "dragon mouth"(龍口). It was here that Nichiren, namesake of the Buddhist sect, was to have been executed. It was founded in 1337 by Nippō, a disciple of Nichiren.Major buildings at the temple include the Hondō, a five-story pagoda, a stupa (sharitō), and the Shichimendō. The cave where Nichiren was confined is preserved on the grounds. A statue of him stands in the courtyard in front of the Hondō. Ryūkō-ji is a short walk from Enoshima Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway, and from Shōnan-Enoshima Station on the Shonan Monorail.

Koshigoe (腰越) is a part of the municipality of Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan, located at the western end of the beach of Shichirigahama, near Fujisawa. The name seems to stem from the fact it was founded by people who crossed ("goe") the base ("koshi") of the mountains to reach the fertile plains near the sea.This small town's name has gone down to history for its deep links with beloved hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune who, having defeated the Taira clan in 1185 after the Genpei War, arrived in Koshigoe with Taira no Munemori and his son Taira no Kiyomune as his prisoners in tow. He meant to bring them personally to Kamakura, but was forbidden to enter by his brother Yoritomo. His prisoners were, however, taken away and paraded on Wakamiya Ōji, Kamakura's main street. Yoshitsune waited fruitlessly for the permission to enter for about 20 days at Koshigoe's Manpuku-ji, near Shichirigahama, then dictated to his attendant Benkei a letter for Yoritomo destined to become famous, the "Letter from Koshigoe". He later gave up and left, but his brother pursued him and his severed head, pickled in sake, was exposed to the public's view, again in Koshigoe, four years later. In 1335, Hōjō Tokiyuki was defeated here by Ashikaga Takauji and his army.

Mejiroyamashita Station (目白山下駅, Mejiroyamashita-eki) is a monorail train station on the Shōnan Monorail Enoshima Line located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is located 6.2 kilometers from the northern terminus of the Shōnan Monorail Enoshima Line at Ōfuna Station.
