The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA); Spanish: Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional is the government department responsible for managing Mexico's Army and Air Forces. Its head is the Secretary of National Defense who, like the co-equal Secretary of the Navy, is directly answerable to the President. Before 1937, the position was called the Secretary of War and Navy (Secretaría de Guerra y Marina). The agency has its headquarters in Lomas de Sotelo, Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City. Some key figures who answer directly to the Secretary are the Assistant Secretary, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and all military tribunals.

The Escuela Médico Militar is a medical school of the Mexican army and air force for advanced medical training. The school is located in Mexico City. The school was founded as Escuela Constitucionalista Médico Militar by Generals Guadalupe Gracia García-Cumplido and Enrique Cornelio Osornio Martínez de los Ríos in 1917. It is deemed to be the follow-on institution of the Escuela Práctica Médico-Militar which was founded for practical training of military physicians at the San Lucas military hospital in Mexico City by its first director Francisco Montes de Oca y Saucedo in 1880.The Escuela Médico Militar is under the command of the general direction of military education and rectorate of the university of the army and the air force, a department of the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA) called Dirección General de Educación Militar y Rectoría de la Universidad del Ejército y Fuerza Aérea Mexicanos (UDEFA).

Hipódromo de las Américas is a thoroughbred and quarter-horse race track in Mexico City, Mexico that had its inaugural meeting on March 6, 1943. It is located approximately four and one-half miles from the downtown district, on Lomas de Sotelo, Mexico City. It is operated by Grupo CIE. Facilities include the original club-house and grandstand, with seating for 20,000 persons, as well a stable area which can accommodate 1700 horses. It is the home of the Mexican Derby, and many prominent jockeys have ridden there over the years. Track: oval; Two Chutes: Seven furlongs and one and one-quarter miles. Record Attendance: 43,371 on Feb. 5, 1981; Record Pari-Mutuel Handle: $1,428,858 on May 30, 1981.

The Conservatorio Nacional de Música (CNM) (National Conservatory of Music, in Spanish) is a music conservatory located in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, Federal District, Mexico.

Estadio General Joaquín Amaro is a stadium in Mexico City, Mexico. It is primarily used for American football and is the home field of the Centinelas del Cuerpo de Guardias Presidenciales. It holds 6,500 people.

The Acuario Inbursa is an aquarium in the Nuevo Polanco area of Miguel Hidalgo district, Mexico City. It is the largest in Mexico with 3500 square meters of exhibition space and 1.6 million liters of ocean water. The project of billionaire Carlos Slim, it cost 250 million Mexican pesos, or 19 million US dollars, to build. It opened in June 2014 with 3000 animals of 230 different species, with plans by the end of the year to have 10,000 animals of over 300 species. The building has 5 stories of which 4 are underground. Some Mexican press articles claim the aquarium as the largest in Latin America, however the Dominican Republic's National Aquarium is much larger at 34,500m².

The Museo Soumaya is a private museum in Mexico City and a non-profit cultural institution with two museum buildings in Mexico City — Plaza Carso and Plaza Loreto. It has over 66,000 works from 30 centuries of art including sculptures from Pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica, 19th- and 20th-century Mexican art and an extensive repertoire of works by European old masters and masters of modern western art such as Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dalí, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and Tintoretto. It is called one of the most complete collections of its kind.The museum is named after Soumaya Domit, who died in 1999, and was the wife of the founder of the museum Carlos Slim. The museum received an attendance of 1,095,000 in 2013, making it the most visited art museum in Mexico and the 56th in the world that year. In October 2015, the museum welcomed its five millionth visitor. The museum was designed by Slim's son-in-law, Fernando Romero's practice, fr·ee.

Nuevo Polanco (English, "New Polanco") is an area of Mexico City formerly consisting of warehouses and factories, bordering the upscale Polanco on the north across Avenida Ejército Nacional. Officially it consists of two colonias, Granada and Ampliación Granada. This area is undergoing an accelerated process of re-conversion and development. With a major transformation taking place, it is one of the fastest and most important real estate development areas in the country. Taking advantage of their now prime location, big pieces of land originally occupied mainly by industries are being used to build large housing, office, commercial and cultural developments with shops, restaurants, cinemas, museums, a 1,500-seat theater, a luxury hotel, etc. Many of them integrate in their name the word 'Polanco' thus seeking to capitalize on its reputation. In October 2013, the Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing (SEDUVI) put a stop to further development until a master plan for dealing with the infrastructure problems was approved. At that time the population of Nuevo Polanco was 76,000, twice as high as originally foreseen, with 23,469 housing units. Nuevo Polanco had gained attention in the international press as an example of how development can go wrong if there is no proper planning for infrastructure. The area has now largely been converted into new shopping and mixed-use developments. These include: Acuario Inbursa, Mexico's largest aquarium, opened in June 2014 Antara Polanco a fashionable shopping and restaurants center, built on the land previously occupied by a General Motors de Mexico car assembly plant Plaza Carso, a large cultural, commercial, office and living complex owned by Carlos Slim, built on the land formerly occupied by General Popo-General Tire battery and tire plant. The total cost of the complex is quoted between USD 800 million and 1.4 billion. The complex claims to be the largest mixed-use development in Latin America and includes the following components: Museo Soumaya, owned by the Carlos Slim Foundation. The museum contains the Slim's extensive art, religious relic, historical document, and coin collection. The museum holds works by many of the best known European artists from the 15th to the 20th century including a large collection of casts of sculptures by Auguste Rodin. The building is a shiny silver cloud-like structure reminiscent of a Rodin sculpture. Museo Júmex, opening November 2013, to house part of the Colección Jumex, the contemporary art collection of the Jumex juice company. Plaza Carso shopping center, featuring an 82,500 square feet (7,660 m2) Saks Fifth Avenue store, the second to have opened in Mexico. Together with the atrium this section measures 48,090 square metres (517,600 sq ft). Teatro Cervantes theater, seating 1500 Residential towers: Torre Dalí, Torre Monet and Torre Rodin Office towers, two of 23 floors each, and one of 20 floors. The three buildings are joined on the lower 3 levels by an atrium and the shopping center. The towers are: Torre Telcel - the headquarters of América Móvil are here; Torre Falcon, and Torre Zurich. Miyana, one of the largest mixed-use developments in the city, consisting of apartment buildings, a VIP Cinepolis, several stores and tens of restaurants and eating places. Grand Polanco, developed on the land previously occupied by a Chrysler franchise Parques Polanco, first occupied by Fábricas Automex, a Chrysler car assembly plant Portika Polanco Ventanas Polanco Terret Polanco (office complex, under construction), located in land previously used by a factory producing yeast Polarea, located on the grounds until recently occupied the plant of Vitro, a glass factory. Alto Polanco (apartments, under construction), on the grounds previously housing the H. Steele y Compañía office furniture factory (formerly the Cia. Hulera Euzkadi tire plant)The new headquarters of the United States Embassy in Mexico will be located in New Polanco, a large complex to be built on land previously used for a Colgate-Palmolive plant.

Colección Jumex is a private art collection owned by Eugenio López Alonso. It includes around 2,800 works by Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Gabriel Orozco, Cy Twombly, Jeff Koons, Marcel Duchamp, Andreas Gursky, Darren Almond, Tacita Dean, Olafur Eliasson, Martin Kippenberger, Carl Hopgood, Bruce Nauman, David Ostrowski, Francis Alÿs, Urs Fischer, Marcel Duchamp, Gego, Donald Judd, Ed Ruscha, Nancy Rubins, Richard Prince, and Martin Creed.

Antara Polanco, is an upscale open-air shopping center in Polanco, Mexico City, Mexico.

Magic Circus was one of the most famous nightclubs in Mexico City. It opened in 1982 and was located at 3 Rodolfo Gaona, Lomas De Sotelo. The club was a complex of three venues: "Magic Circus", the main club, "Privilege", a private membership club, and "Rock Garage", later named "Dynamo Garage". Magic Circus was the symbol of status and snobbery with celebrities in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Rock and pop concerts with artists such as Soda Stereo, Mecano, Flans, Luis Miguel, as well as electronic dance music by the most popular DJ's, were the trademark of the venue. The club was also famous for its resident DJ's, including Claudio Yarto, Manuel Novoa, Joaquin Díaz, Luis Gallegos, Yaxkin Restrepo, Mauricio Ponce, Ángel Arciniega Jr., Luis Ángel Hernández and Ulises Jiménez (who was the last DJ who closed the place on Sunday, 29 May 1994, although two weeks later it was reopened by the new owners, it was only called Magic, but it no longer belonged to the Magic Circus chain). It was one of the meeting points of many B-boys like Speed Fire and Rapaz, as well as famous people in the industry. Magic Circus opened venues in Huatulco, Oaxaca, Acapulco, Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo in the early 1990s, now all closed.
