Choate ( CHOHT) is a locality in the lower Fraser Canyon of British Columbia, Canada, approximately midway between the unincorporated town of Yale (N) and the district municipality of Hope. A post office operated at Choate from 1923 to 1939. The designation of "flagstop" was changed to "locality" in 1984. Stullawheets Indian Reserve No. 8 of the Yale First Nation is located at Choate, around its Canadian Pacific Railway "station" (flagstop). Stulkawhits Creek, the namesake of the reserve, is at 49°28′18″N 121°25′07″W, flowing east out of the southern Lillooet Ranges.

Squeah is a locality in the lower Fraser Canyon of British Columbia, Canada, located between the unincorporated town of Yale (N) and the district municipality of Hope on the Fraser River. Squeah Indian Reserve No. 6 of the Yale First Nation, is located here, at the mouth of Suka Creek. Tiny Squeah Lake is on the south side of the locality at 49°28′51″N 121°24′21″W. The mountain above the community on the east side of the canyon, at 49°31′18″N 121°23′14″W is called Squeah Mountain by the members of the Yale First Nation.

Emory City was a town on the Fraser River just 5 km (3 miles) south of Yale, British Columbia. By 1858 over 25,000 men had travelled up the Fraser River staking claims and working the sand bars in an attempt to strike it rich and 500 men are recorded to have spent the winter of 1858–1859 camped at Emory's bar in tent and shingle dwellings. Although considerable gold was found at Emory's bar, the mother-lode was never found. Emory again came into prominence in the fall of 1879 when it became the Canadian Pacific Railway's western terminus. Emory City soon consisted of 13 streets, 32 blocks, and 400 lots of goodly dimensions. The Inland Sentinel Newspaper, the first on the mainland, erected a two-story building on Front street and the Emory City Sawmill was producing 21,000 board feet (50 m3) of lumber in a 24-hour shift. Two hotels, nine saloons, a brewery, blacksmiths shop, general store, residences and "less reputable businesses" rounded out Emory City's economy. But by late 1881, it became obvious that the CPR would make Yale, their center for railroad activities and Emory City was abandoned. By the late 1890s people traveling through the area said that not a trace of the city could be found as the forest had reclaimed the site. Today the original site of Emory City is located within a Provincial Campground named "Emory Creek".

Emory Creek Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located on the west side of the Fraser River just south of the town of Yale. It commemorates the location of a large boomtown, variously known as Emory, Emory Bar or Emory City, that first rose during the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush but became a major construction town during the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1880s. Emory Creek in 1858 was a tent and shack camp, established by miners in search of gold. When it became evident that the gold was not available in the amounts estimated, the miners started moving north on the Fraser River. A few Chinese remained in the area. The area came into the hands of a man named Walker, who felt Emory Creek would become the head of riverboat navigation on the Fraser. Eventually, he sold the land to the Oppenheimer Brothers in early 1879. In the fall of 1879, Emory was chosen by the C.P.R. as the western terminus. In a short time it became Emory Creek. The town consisted of thirteen streets with its own newspaper, various shops, a brewery, nine saloons and a sawmill. When Yale was made the terminus, Emory was all but abandoned by 1885, with the completion of the railway. Today, it is an easily accessible treed campground with paved roads and flush outhouses.

Boothroyd ( BOOTH-royd) is a settlement in the Fraser Canyon region of British Columbia, just north of Boston Bar-North Bend. It sits on a flat, alluvial bench which is some of the only flat land in the Fraser Canyon. It was the site of a Cariboo Roadhouse, run by a man named Boothroyd. Later it was a camp for Canadian Pacific Railway Chinese construction workers from 1882 to 1884. The community was named after George Boothroyd (1829-1902). He and his brother kept a roadhouse here during the days of the Cariboo Road. The BC Ministry of Environment has mapped Boothroyd in the Interior Douglas-fir zone, wet warm subzone (IDFww). Boothroyd is the first place where travellers heading north along the Trans-Canada Highway notice Ponderosa pine in considerable abundance as the climate becomes drier and more continental.

Hill's Bar is a long-abandoned ghost town located in the Fraser Canyon region of British Columbia, Canada. The site of the former boomtown is situated near the right bank of the Fraser River, between Yale and the mouth of Emory Creek. The eponymous bar was the first active placer mining site at the onset of the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush, and was the scene of the Boatmakers of San Francisco claim, which included Ned McGowan of McGowan's War, and involved a dispute with Kowpelst (White Hat), chief of the Spuzzum people.

The Coquihalla River (originally locally or more recently and popularly ) is a tributary of the Fraser River in the Cascade Mountains of the Canadian province of British Columbia. It originates in the Coquihalla Lakes and empties into the Fraser River at Hope. The Coquihalla River forms the northern boundary of two portions of the Cascades, the Skagit Range and the Hozameen Range. The river flows through a deep, narrow valley, dropping 3,400 feet (1,000 m) in 33 miles (53 km), a tumultuous course that creates an incessant roar.Kw'ikw'iyá:la in the Halkomelem language of the Stó:lō, is a place name meaning "stingy container" or "stingy place". It refers specifically to a deep pool named Skw'éxweq or Skw'exwáq, near the mouth of what is now known as the Coquihalla River. The Stó:lō would go to this pool to spear suckerfish, which were plentiful there. According to Stó:lō oral history, the s'ó:lmexw (black-haired, 2-foot tall, dark-skinned underwater people) would grab the spears, preventing fish from being caught. Thus they were stingy with the fish. There were two other pools in the rivers where this was said to happen.The Coquihalla Highway, which runs from Hope to Kamloops, derives its name from running alongside this river between Hope and the site of a former toll booth about 50 kilometres (31 mi) away. Portions of the motion picture First Blood were filmed there.

Haig is a settlement in British Columbia. It was named for Douglas Haig, 1st Earl Haig, a British senior officer during the First World War.

Hope is a district municipality at the confluence of the Fraser and Coquihalla rivers in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Hope is at the eastern end of both the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland region, and is at the southern end of the Fraser Canyon. To the east, over the Cascade Mountains, is the Interior region, beginning with the Similkameen Country on the farther side of the Allison Pass in Manning Park. Located 154 kilometres (96 mi) east of Vancouver, Hope is at the southern terminus of the Coquihalla Highway and the western terminus of the Crowsnest Highway, locally known as the Hope-Princeton (Highways 5 and 3, respectively), where they merge with the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). Hope is at the eastern terminus of Highway 7. As it lies at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley in the windward Cascade foothills, the town gets very high amounts of rain and cloud cover – particularly throughout the autumn and winter. Hope is a member municipality of the Fraser Valley Regional District which provides certain municipal services to unincorporated settlements and rural areas. The District of Hope includes Hope (the previous Town of Hope) and surrounding areas, including the communities of Kawkawa Lake, Silver Creek, Flood, and Lake of the Woods.

Kawkawa Lake is a lake located 2.5 km (1.6 mi) east of Hope, British Columbia. Kawkawa is also the name for the neighbourhood in Hope surrounding Kawkawa Lake. The lake is home to many species of fish, but it is best known for its large kokanee (land-locked salmon), which can reach up to 3+ lbs in weight. Kawkawa Lake Park is situated on the lake and has amenities such as: toilets, swimming beach, grassy play area, park benches with picnic tables and a small dock that has a concrete boat launch. There was also a privately operated resort and campground on the lake's shore. This was shut down in 2019, where boats are also welcome. Water sports around the lake include: skiing, wake boarding, tubing, jet skiing, as well as dune buggy rentals. Another activity for visitors is hiking through the nearby Othello Tunnels, located only 15 minutes from the town of Hope. The Kawkawa Lake Indian Reserve No. 16 is located on the southeastern shore of the lake, and is one of the reserves under the administration of the Hope-area Union Bar First Nation.

The Water Avenue Bridge is a highway bridge that carries the Trans Canada Highway across the Fraser river. It was built around 1916 to carry the Kettle Valley Railroad out of the town of Hope to the CPR mainline on the north side of the river. It is a two level bridge with the highway bridge on top. The bridge had two levels, with vehicular traffic on top, and railway traffic on the lower level. The bridge is no longer used by trains, but the lower deck can be observed from the north (west) bank. The railway, which was long ago removed, ran on the lower level. If you pull off the highway on the north side, eastbound on the highway, and explore under the bridge, this can be clearly seen. The rail bed can be followed a short way west until you come to a private property. Little if anything remains to show that trains ran south and east of the bridge into town.

The Christ Church National Historic Site in Hope, British Columbia, was consecrated on 8 November 1861 by Bishop George Hills, the colony's first bishop, making it the oldest church on the mainland of British Columbia, and the oldest church in the province still on its original foundation. Aside from this, it was made a national historic site because "it is representative of the response of the British church and state to the social and political conditions created by the Fraser River and Cariboo gold rushes in colonial British Columbia," and "it is a fine example of Anglican parish church architecture in the Ecclesiological Gothic Revival style".The church was commissioned by Reverend Alexander David Pringle, a Scottish missionary for the Anglican Communion, and it was run chiefly by missionaries for the first years of its existence. The building's architect was Captain John Marshall Grant of the Royal Engineers, Columbia Detachment, and it was built by the Royal Engineers that were in Hope laying out the town at the time.
