Derby Arboretum

Litchurch is a historical area in the city of Derby, in Derbyshire, England. From Medieval times it was a rural township associated with Derby but outside the burgh boundary, before experiencing rapid urbanisation and population growth in the 19th century. After a brief existence as a self-governing local board area between 1866 and 1889, it was absorbed by the newly-created Derby county borough and has subsequently fallen into obscurity.

Arboretum is an electoral ward in the city of Derby, England. It includes Derby city centre and the inner city suburbs of Pear Tree and Rose Hill, as well as part of Normanton. It covers much of the area of the historic township of Litchurch. The ward, which takes its name from Derby Arboretum in Rose Hill, had a population of 18,590 in 2011.

The Derbyshire Royal Infirmary was a hospital in Derby that was managed by the Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Following the transfer of community services to the London Road Community Hospital located further south-east along London Road, the infirmary closed in 2009 and most of the buildings were demolished in spring 2015.

Christ Church, Derby is a Grade II listed former Church of England parish church in Derby now the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Apostles St Peter and St Paul.

Derby Congregational Chapel was designed by architect Henry Isaac Stevens and was built in 1843. It stood on the corner of Traffic Street and London Road on a plot of land of 1,600 square yards. It was built of brick and stuccoed, with five circular-headed windows on each side, and a large square window at the eastern end. The portico and pediment supported by four columns was built in the Corinthian order, with Hollington stone. The contractors were Messrs Gascoyne. The chapel was extremely popular with worshippers. The chapel was converted to the Coliseum Cinema in 1934. It was in direct competition with the Odeon (now Zanzibar nightclub) and was virtually opposite its biggest rival. The building was closed in August 1961 when plans for the widening of Traffic Street were approved. It was demolished in early 1962, and no trace of the building remains today.

Derbion (formerly Intu Derby, Westfield Derby and the Eagle Centre) is a large indoor shopping centre in Derby, England. It is the largest shopping centre in the East Midlands and the 15th largest in the United Kingdom.

The Grand Theatre, Derby was a theatre in Derby in the English Midlands. It was opened in 1886, designed in an Italian renaissance style by a Birmingham architect Oliver Essex. It originally had a capacity of 2,500. Shortly after opening the theatre suffered a major fire, in which two people were killed and the building substantially damaged. Rebuilt it became a successful venue for touring companies and pantomime. In 1950 the theatre was closed down and was later converted into a ballroom.In 1924 the play Dracula starring Hamilton Deane began its tour in Derby. In 1945 the play A Man About the House premiered at the Grand before transferring to the West End.

Holy Trinity Church, Derby is a Locally listed former Church of England parish church on London Road in Derby.

The Florence Nightingale Community Hospital, formerly the London Road Community Hospital, is a community hospital on London Road in Derby, England. It is managed by the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The other main hospital in Derby is the Royal Derby Hospital.

St Peter's in the City is a Church of England parish church in the city of Derby, Derbyshire, England. It is one of Derby's city centre churches which is in full use for worship. The church building dates from the 11th century. The tower has a peal of eight bells, which are rung before the Sunday morning services.The church and its boundary walls were awarded Grade II* listed status in 1952.

Derby School was a school in Derby in the English Midlands from 1160 to 1989. It had an almost continuous history of education of over eight centuries. For most of that time it was a grammar school for boys. The school became co-educational and comprehensive in 1972 and was closed in 1989. In 1994 a new independent school called Derby Grammar School for boys was founded.

The Old Grammar School, St. Peter's Churchyard, Derby, England, is now a Ladies Hairdressing Salon. The building's new owner is the daughter of the architect responsible for the original restoration of this historical property. All of the original features of the building have been retained and further extensive restoration work has been carried out at the new owner's expense. The Reverend John Cotton, a principal New England Puritan figure and a founder of Boston, Massachusetts, was educated at Derby School.The Heritage Centre was established in 1992 by Richard Felix, long time historian on popular Living show Most Haunted and is the starting point for Derby Ghost Walks. The paranormal TV series Most Haunted completed an investigation at the Heritage Centre in 2003.
