Old Grammar School, Derby

Derby School was a school in Derby in the English Midlands from 1160 to 1989. It had an almost continuous history of education of over eight centuries. For most of that time it was a grammar school for boys. The school became co-educational and comprehensive in 1972 and was closed in 1989. In 1994 a new independent school called Derby Grammar School for boys was founded.

The Grand Theatre, Derby was a theatre in Derby in the English Midlands. It was opened in 1886, designed in an Italian renaissance style by a Birmingham architect Oliver Essex. It originally had a capacity of 2,500. Shortly after opening the theatre suffered a major fire, in which two people were killed and the building substantially damaged. Rebuilt it became a successful venue for touring companies and pantomime. In 1950 the theatre was closed down and was later converted into a ballroom.In 1924 the play Dracula starring Hamilton Deane began its tour in Derby. In 1945 the play A Man About the House premiered at the Grand before transferring to the West End.

St Peter's in the City is a Church of England parish church in the city of Derby, Derbyshire, England. It is one of Derby's city centre churches which is in full use for worship. The church building dates from the 11th century. The tower has a peal of eight bells, which are rung before the Sunday morning services.The church and its boundary walls were awarded Grade II* listed status in 1952.

The Derby Catacombs (also referred to as the Guildhall Catacombs) are a series of tunnels running beneath the city of Derby, most notably beneath the Marketplace and Derby Guildhall. Access to the tunnels is available via a back room of the nearby Tiger pub.During the Victorian era, the tunnels were used to ferry prisoners between the police station at "Lock-Up Yard" and the Courts of Assizes, held at the Guildhall.

St. James Priory, also known as Derby Cluniac Priory, was a Benedictine monastery, formerly located in what is now Derby City Centre. It existed until the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

Derby Market Hall is an indoor market located in the English city of Derby, United Kingdom. The market was built between 1864 and 1866 at a cost of £29,000. The initial design was by Thomas C Thorburn the then Borough engineer. The details were contracted out to James Stevens with further modifications made in response to safety issues by Thorburn's successor George Thompson. The building's roof is an iron and glass barrel vault reaching a height of 64 feet. Starting in 1937 the building underwent a refurbishment costing £12,200. It finished in September 1938 with the market gaining a heating system for the first time. Another refurbishment started in 1988, this time costing £3.5 million and finishing in spring 1989. The market was awarded grade II listed status in 1977. In the 2020s, it underwent a three-year refit at a cost of £35 million, reopening in May 2025. This was an increase from the initially budgeted £11.18 million. During the work a steeplejack was killed when he fell from the roof.

The Corn Exchange is a commercial building in Albert Street in Derby, Derbyshire, England. The structure, which is currently used as an indoor sports venue, is a Grade II listed building.

The Derby War Memorial was designed by Charles Clayton Thompson and stands before the Derby Guildhall. It features a bronze figure of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms by the sculptor George Arthur Walker. It was completed in 1924 and unveiled on 11 November 1924. Behind this bronze figure is a large Celtic cross. The memorial was erected to commemorate the fallen of The Great War with the inscription "The Great War/1914-1918". A later inscription, "For Faith/And Home/And Righteousness/World War 1939–1945", was added to recognize those men of Derby who died in the Second World War.A plaque commemorates the victims of later conflicts.

The Old Bell Hotel in Derby, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, is one of Derby's oldest and largest coaching inns. It was is built in 1650, in the historic street of Sadler Gate in the city's Cathedral Quarter. The hotel is a Grade II listed building and is included in the Derby City Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architecture or Historic Interest. Although much of the building has been altered and restored, most of the original structure can still be seen from the street, consisting of a timber-framed building of four storeys with four gables, each with one window, at the top. Over the years The Old Bell Hotel has served as a coaching inn, hotel, bar, restaurant, doctors' surgery, courtroom, jail and other functions.

Derby Museum and Art Gallery is a museum and art gallery in Derby, England. It was established in 1879, along with Derby Central Library, in a new building designed by Richard Knill Freeman and given to Derby by Michael Thomas Bass. The collection includes a gallery displaying many paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby; there is also a large display of Royal Crown Derby and other porcelain from Derby and the surrounding area. Further displays include archaeology, natural history, geology, military collections and world cultures. The Art Gallery was opened in 1882.
