Ruhrort

Duisburg-Ruhrort is a railway station in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The German Inland Waterways Museum (Museum der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt) is located in Ruhrort, Duisburg at the nucleus of Duisburg-Ruhrorter ports which today make up the largest European inland harbour complex. The museum was founded in 1974 with purchase of the museum ship Oscar Huber. In 1998 the museum was moved from the old town hall into the city's former indoor swimming facility, an Art Nouveau landmark which had been built in 1910, closed in 1986, and declared a protected historic site in 1988. The move allowed the museum the space to exhibit complete ships, as well as spurring redevelopment in the harbor area. The building conversion was designed by Architektur Fabrik Aachen (afa) and an American artist, Ron Bernstein, and made very little change to the building exterior while expanding the inner spaces to accommodate the exhibits. For example, a full-size sailing ship now occupies the former men's pool, while the second-story women's pool now houses a reconstructed barge.

The Ruhr is a river in western Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia), a right tributary (east-side) of the Rhine.

Rheinorange (Rhine Orange) is a sculpture erected in 1992 in Duisburg-Neuenkamp, Germany. It is located at the point where the Ruhr flows into the Rhine at 'Rheinkilometer 780', i.e. 780 km from the source of the Rhine. It was constructed from steel by the sculptor Lutz Fritsch from Köln. It is 25 m tall, 7 m wide and 1 m thick, and weighs 83 tonnes. The cost was over 400.000 DM, which was donated by the Niederrhein IHK (chamber of commerce) after a fund-raising initiative by the young entrepreneurs members. The name Rheinorange is actually a play on words. It sounds like Reinorange (pure orange) which is RAL 2004 in the RAL color standard. The sculpture is intended to form a landmark. The mouth of the river, the largest inland harbour in Europe, the most important steel district in Europe, a base for technology with a future, the Lehmbruck-Museum as an important gallery for modern sculpture in Europe, are all intended to be connected with each other in representing aspects of the economic and cultural life of Duisburg. The Rhine Orange is a feature on the Ruhr Industrial Heritage Trail.

The Ruhrort–Homberg train ferry was a German train ferry on the Rhine between Ruhrort and Homberg, now districts of Duisburg.

König Brewery is a brewery situated in Beeck, a neighborhood of Duisburg, Germany that brews the well-known König Pilsener (known in colloquial German as KöPi).

Homberg/Ruhrort/Baerl (German pronunciation: [ˌhɔmbɛʁkˌʁuːɐ̯ʔɔʁtˈbaːɐ̯l]) is a Stadtbezirk (borough/district) within the city of Duisburg, Germany. The population is 39 725 and the district has an area of 37.1 km² (as of December 31, 2014). It consists of the districts of Alt-Homberg, Hochheide, Baerl and Ruhrort. The municipality was created in 1975 after the local government reform of parts of the left-bank community Rheinkamp-Baerl on the Lower Rhine and the Rhine district of Duisburg-Ruhrort. In the municipality is the largest part of the Duisburg inland port Duisport.

The Duisburg Canals are part of the master plan developed by Foster and Partners for the reconstruction of the Duisburg Inner Harbour. They are part of the Duisburg: Town and Harbour section of the Ruhr Industrial Heritage Trail. An eastern port area was created separated from the rest of the port by the forming an artificial lake 26 m above sea level. The water level is maintained by ensuring that rainwater is channeled into the basin. Excess water is drained to the north side onto a bed of gravel. In case of drought a solar-powered fountain with an annual capacity of 90,000 m³ has been installed by the Hanse canal. Pre-treatment of the water supply is provided by small biotopes at the southern end of the canal. The area includes housing, some of which is low price.

The PCC-Stadion is a football stadium in Homberg (Duisburg), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the home ground of the women's Bundesliga side MSV Duisburg—continuing the tradition of the FCR 2001 Duisburg—and men's fourth division side VfB Homberg. The stadium has a capacity of 3,000. The main stand has 800 covered seats.

The Vulkanstraße is a street in Duisburg, Germany that is the location of the city's red-light district. There are a number of brothels in the street including Laufhaus. It is the largest red-light district in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.The brothels in Vulkanstraße had a total of 432 rooms in mid-2013. According to an estimate by the Express, the operators generate a seven-digit profit per month.On October 31, 2009 there were massive clashes between the Bandidos and the Hells Angels in Vulkanstraße . The local police had to call in the Bereitschaftspolizei (riot police) for reinforcements. While the Bandidos controlled the Ruhr area, the Hells Angels claimed the Rhineland for themselves; interests overlap in Duisburg. Other competitors included the Satudarah.In 2011 there were plans to move the red-light district to Duisburg, but there was strong opposition. The Vulkanstraße could not be closed without providing an alternate venue. "This would amount to a professional ban and would not be accepted by the courts," according to the city administration. Later in the same year the construction of another brothel on the Vulkanstraße was approved by the District Council.Legal disputes began in 2012 over the "brothel tax" introduced by Duisburg. The city's revenue from the tax was estimated to be 500,000 euros.In 2013, the Greens and leftists in the Duisburg city council called for an advice centre for prostitutes. The "Lily" advice centre was set up in 2015. In their annual report in 2016, Lily reported that 500 women worked as prostitutes and the area, in 10 brothels with 440 rooms. They also reported a high proportion of STIs amongst the women.

The Schwanentorbrücke is a vertical-lift bridge in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, that crosses the Duisburg Inner Harbour. The bridge can be vertically raised to allow cargo ships to access the inner city, and lowered to allow cars, trains and pedestrians to cross. The bridge is named after the Schwanenturm (meaning 'watch tower) that protected the city walls in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Stadtwerketurm is a chimney of Duisburg. It was built in 1966–67 and consists of four tubes. One of these tubes contains an elevator, the others are used for smoke guiding. It Stands at least more than 7 metres tall.
