Nieuw-Vennep

De Vennip is a former municipality in the Netherlands, which at the time belonged to the province of South Holland. It consisted of a small area of land east of Hillegom, and a large part of the Haarlemmermeer lake, including the island of Beinsdorp (which is now the name of a village in the Haarlemmermeer polder). The area of the municipality was 38.61 km², of which only 1.18 km² was land.According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, De Vennip used to be a manor, and was first mentioned in 1334. The land area of the manor was much larger than, but when the Haarlemmermeer grew, De Vennip became smaller. From 1812 until 1817, the area was part of the municipality Hillegom, but it became a separate municipality in 1817, even though there were no inhabitants. In 1855, it merged again with Hillegom. In 1855, the water area had been drained and the new land became part of the new municipality of Haarlemmermeer, which became part of the province of North Holland. The municipality gave its name to the village of Nieuw-Vennep.

Nieuw-Vennep is a railway station in Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands located on the Weesp–Leiden railway. It the second station in Nieuw Vennep; there existed an earlier one on the Hoofddorp–Leiden railway (commonly referred to as the Haarlemmermeerspoorlijn; from Aalsmeer to Haarlem, via Hoofddorp and Leiden). This station opened in 1912 and closed in 1936. The current station is serviced by regional trains and opened on 31 May 1981. It is operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

't Kabel is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies just southeast of Nieuw-Vennep and about 6 km southwest of Hoofddorp. Kabel has a population of around 100.

Holland is a geographical region and former province on the western coast of the Netherlands. By the 17th century, the province of Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the newly independent Dutch Republic. The area of the former County of Holland roughly coincides with the two current Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland into which it was divided, and which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: the capital city (Amsterdam), the home of Europe's largest port (Rotterdam), and the seat of government (The Hague). Holland has a population of 6,583,534 as of November 2019, and a population density of 1203/km2. The name Holland has frequently been used informally to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This casual usage is commonly accepted in other countries, and is even employed by many Dutch themselves. However, some in the Netherlands (particularly those from regions outside Holland or the west) find it undesirable or misrepresentative to use the term for the whole country. In January 2020, the Netherlands officially dropped its support of the word Holland for the whole country, which included a logo redesign that changed "Holland" to "NL".

Nieuwebrug is a hamlet in the western Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, North Holland, about 11 km west of Amsterdam. Nieuwebrug has a population of around 360.

Leimuiderbrug is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 11 km west of Amsterdam. Leimuiderbrug has a population of around 40.

Abbenes is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and is situated about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southwest of Hoofddorp. The village was first mentioned in 1867 as Abbenes, and is named after a lost island. The name means "headland of Abe (person)". Abbenes developed shortly after 1852 on the Hoofdvaart near a bridge.

Meerewijck is the name of a recreation and living quarter of Leimuiden in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Kaag en Braassem, and is situated about 12 km south-west of Amsterdam. Meerewijck consists of about 100 semi-bungalows which are grouped around a marina at the Ringvaart. Via the Ringvaart, several lakes such as the Braassemer Meer, the Westeinderplassen, and the Kagerplassen can be reached by boat within minutes.

The Leidsevaart (also known as Leidse trekvaart, Dutch for "Leiden's Pull-Canal") is a canal between the cities of Haarlem and Leiden in the Netherlands. It was dug in 1657, making it one of the oldest canals in the Netherlands. It was the major means of transport between Leiden and Haarlem for almost two centuries until the rail connection was established in the 19th century. The original stops along the railway mirrored the toll bridges of the canal. The canal runs through or borders the municipalities of Haarlem, Heemstede, Bloemendaal, Hillegom, Noordwijkerhout, Lisse, Teylingen, Oegstgeest, and Leiden.

Oude Wetering is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located in the municipality of Kaag en Braassem, east of the town of Roelofarendsveen. A bridge connects the village to the village of Weteringbrug in the Haarlemmermeer.

Weteringbrug is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 9 km north of Alphen aan den Rijn. The village was first mentioned in 1936 as Weteringbuurt. The current name means "bridge of the Oude Wetering (river)".

Leimuiden is a Dutch village in the South Holland municipality of Kaag en Braassem. Leimuiden is located between the Braassemermeer, the Westeinderplassen and the Ringvaart. Leimuiden is located north of Alphen aan den Rijn.
