Beinsdorp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɛinzdɔr(ə)p]) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) southwest of Hoofddorp along the Ringvaart, adjacent to Hillegom. Beinsdorp is named after a former island in the former Haarlemmer Lake.The village was first mentioned in 1851 as Beinsdorp, and means "Ben's village".

Hillegom (Dutch: [ˌɦɪləˈɣɔm] (listen)) is a town and municipality in the Western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Hillegom is part of an area called the Duin- en Bollenstreek ("Dune and Bulb Region"). As such, a large portion of the local economy was traditionally geared to the cultivation of bulb flowers. The name Hillegom is derived from the abbey named Hijlighem (Old Frankish for "Holy Home"). This abbey no longer exists. The current Lord of Hillegom is Jan Six X.

Nieuwebrug is a hamlet in the western Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, North Holland, about 11 km west of Amsterdam. Nieuwebrug has a population of around 360.

Arnoud was a small township in the Dutch province of South Holland. The township was located between Hillegom and Lisse. It consisted of a single street (Arnoudstraat) and was developed as part of the creation of De Arnoud factory in 1904. Over time the factory expanded and the houses on Arnoudstraat had to be torn down. The area of Arnoud is now called Hillegom-Zuid and is an industrial area with no inhabitants.

The railway station of Hillegom in the Netherlands is located on the railway line between Haarlem and Leiden. The first railway station in the town was opened in 1891, closed in 1898 and torn down in 1900. A second railway station was opened on a different location in 1898, when the first was closed. It was designed by the architect D.A.N. Margadant. The freight tracks on the railway station were used to transport flowers from the nearby fields to i.a. the flower auction in Aalsmeer. During World War II, these tracks were used by the Germans, making it a prominent target for allied bombings. The passenger railway station was closed as a result of this on 17 September 1944. The freight tracks remained in use until the 1980s. The railway station was reopened on 28 May 2000, on the same location as the second railway station.

Lisserbroek is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 10 km southwest of Hoofddorp. It is located along the Ringvaart opposite the town of Lisse in the area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" (Duin- en Bollenstreek). The village was first mentioned between 1280 and 1287 as "lisse inden broke", and means "swampy land near Lisse.

Vogelenzang is a village in the municipality of Bloemendaal, North Holland, Netherlands. The name "Vogelenzang" is Dutch for "bird song".

Bennebroek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɛnəbruk] (listen)) is a village and former municipality in the northwest Netherlands, now part of Bloemendaal, North Holland. Before its merger, it was the smallest municipality in the Netherlands, covering an area of only 1.75 km².

De Vennip is a former municipality in the Netherlands, which at the time belonged to the province of South Holland. It consisted of a small area of land east of Hillegom, and a large part of the Haarlemmermeer lake, including the island of Beinsdorp (which is now the name of a village in the Haarlemmermeer polder). The area of the municipality was 38.61 km², of which only 1.18 km² was land.According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, De Vennip used to be a manor, and was first mentioned in 1334. The land area of the manor was much larger than, but when the Haarlemmermeer grew, De Vennip became smaller. From 1812 until 1817, the area was part of the municipality Hillegom, but it became a separate municipality in 1817, even though there were no inhabitants. In 1855, it merged again with Hillegom. In 1855, the water area had been drained and the new land became part of the new municipality of Haarlemmermeer, which became part of the province of North Holland. The municipality gave its name to the village of Nieuw-Vennep.

Keukenhof (English: "Kitchen garden"; Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkøːkə(n)ˌɦɔf]), also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens, situated in the municipality of Lisse, in the Netherlands. According to the official website, Keukenhof Park covers an area of 32 hectares (79 acres) and approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted in the gardens annually. Keukenhof is widely known for its tulips, and it also features numerous other flowers, including hyacinths, daffodils, lilies, roses, carnations and irises.Keukenhof is located in the province of South Holland, south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam in the area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" (Duin- en Bollenstreek). It is accessible by bus from Haarlem and Leiden train stations as well as Schiphol. Though its grounds are open year-round for private affairs and festivals, Keukenhof is only open to the general public for a world-renowned 8 week tulip display from mid-March to mid-May, with peak viewing arriving near mid-April, depending on growing season weather, which varies annually. In 2019, 1.5 million people visited Keukenhof, equivalent to 26,000 visitors per day. By comparison, the Rijksmuseum receives an average of 8,000 visitors per day, the Efteling receives 14,000.

Restaurant De Oude Geleerde Man is a defunct restaurant in Bennebroek, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1980 and retained that rating until 1990. The restaurant closed down shortly after 1991.In 1970, Arie Siliakus became the owner. In 1990 he sold the restaurant to buy De Hoop op d’Swarte Walvis. In the period 1981-1986 Jean Jacques Menanteau was head chef.Since 2009, a Chinese-Japanese restaurant is housed on the former location of De Oude Geleerde Man. This continues a tradition as a stopping point and restaurant at this address since 1683.De Oude Geleerde Man is subject of the poem Lofzang aan de Oude Geleerde Man by Gerrit van Lennep (1774-1833).

Zwaanshoek is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 4 km west of Hoofddorp. On the other side of the canal lies the village Bennebroek, which is connected to Zwaanshoek by a bridge. In 2001, the village of Zwaanshoek had 1250 inhabitants. In 2008, this had increased to 1780 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.26 km², and contained 450 residences. The wider statistical area of Zwaanshoek has a population of around 1660.Zwaanshoek is located on the edge of what used to be a lake, the Haarlemmermeer (which means lake of Haarlem”. This lake had been reclaimed and the Haarlemmermeerpolder was thus created. Until the 1950s the village did not have an official name and was called Bennebroekerbuurt, which means neighbourhood of Bennebroek. Later, this name was changed to Zwaanshoek, which means swan corner, because of the number of wild swans that were to be found. Initially, Zwaanshoek was just a small line of buildings along the dyke circling the Haarlemmermeer and along the road leading into the polder. In the 1970s and 80’s the village got bigger, when new buildings were constructed. New streets were built on the field of farmer van Leeuwen. In this new little district, a public school was built for kids of around 4 to 10 years old: de Zwanebloem. Predating this school, the village had another one, called school 8, because it was the eighth school of the Haarlemmermeer. Although school 8 isn’t used as a school anymore, it is now used as a village house, called de Oase (meaning the oasis). Here, different kinds of activities get hosted now, and Bridgeclub Zwaanshoek is one of the permanent users of the house. In 2003, a graveyard got opened in Zwaanshoek, called Meerterpen. This is meant to be used as a central graveyard for the entire Haarlemmermeer and replaces the graveyard in the northern part of Hoofddorp. No new graves could be dug there, because of the expanding airport Schiphol. The most important sports club is the tennisclub, established in 1976. A famous inhabitant of Zwaanshoek was Jan van Dooyeweerd. This horsetrainer had a company located on the Spieringweg. Van Dooyeweerd had been national champion multiple times and had won 2251 competitions. He died in 2005 and his son, Jan van Dooyeweerd junior, has continued the work of his father. Zwaanshoek was officially the smartest village of the Netherlands. 23% of 163 inhabitants between the ages of 18 and 27 goes to university.
