St. Adalbert Cemetery

The Katyń Memorial (Polish: Pomnik Katyński) is a monument in Niles, Illinois, United States, located at the St. Adalbert Cemetery. It commemorates victims of Katyn massacre, a series of mass executions of nearly 22,000 Polish military and police officers, border guards, and intelligentsia prisoners of war carried out in 1940 by the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs of the Soviet Union. The sculpture was designed by Wojciech Seweryn, and unveiled on May 17, 2009. The monument features a statue of keeling Mary of Nazareth, holding in her arms a dead Polish soldier, with a large granite Christian cross behind her, and a sculpture made from white stone, forming outline of a military eagle, symbol of Polish Arm Forces, with a missing head.

Edison Park (formerly Canfield) is one of the 77 community areas of Chicago on the North Side, Chicago, Illinois. It consists entirely of the Edison Park neighborhood, and is named after Thomas Alva Edison, who gave his blessing to this community namesake in 1890. According to the 2000 Census, its population is 11,259. Edison Park has one of the highest concentrations of Irish ancestry in Chicago, where they make up over three-fourths of the neighborhood's population. Located between the Des Plaines River and the Chicago River, this area served as a local watershed divide. The Des Plaines River feeds into the Illinois River and the Mississippi River to reach the Gulf of Mexico. Like nearby Portage Park, Edison Park was a common portage for early travelers, who would carry their canoes across it.

The Turzak House is a house located at 7059 North Olcott Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The house was built between 1938 and 1939 by Bruce Goff for Charles Turzak. It was designated a Chicago Landmark on December 9, 1992.

Norwood Park station is a historic commuter railroad station along the Union Pacific Northwest Line in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is officially located on 6088 North Northwest Highway, but also runs parallel to Avondale Avenue near Raven Street. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Norwood Park is in zone C. As of 2018, Norwood Park is the 131st busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 365 weekday boardings.As of May 30, 2023, Norwood Park is served by 50 trains (25 in each direction) on weekdays, by 31 trains (16 inbound, 15 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 19 trains (nine inbound, 10 outbound) on Sundays. Norwood Park station was originally built as the "Chicago and North Western Railroad Depot" in 1907. As shown on Metra's official website, the station house looks like a private residential home. In fact, the station itself is privately owned, which is one reason it opens at 5:00 A.M. and has no specific closing time.The Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce & Industry carried out a major renovation project of the station in 1999. In 2001, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wildwood is a neighborhood located in the Forest Glen Community Area on the Far Northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. The community is triangular in shape and is bordered by Lehigh Avenue, Caldwell Avenue (Route 14), Touhy Avenue, and Devon Avenue. The Edgebrook Metra Station faces Wildwood at the intersection of Devon, Lehigh, and Caldwell. The most notable features of Wildwood are rustic, including curb-less streets and massive trees towering above the homes. A satellite view of Wildwood compared to other nearby Chicago communities shows its number of trees. Wildwood provides the entrance to Bunker Hill Forest Preserve and the North Branch Bicycle Trail (ending at the Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois). The community of Wildwood contains few businesses or rental options, as it is primarily a community of single-family homes. The neighborhood is home to Wildwood Park and Wildwood Elementary School. Wildwood Elementary is now known as Wildwood World Magnet School after undergoing extensive renovations in the last decade.

The Tam O'Shanter Golf Course is located in Niles, Illinois. The north branch of the Chicago River flows through the course. The course and clubhouse were previously owned by George S. May and are currently under the ownership of the Niles Park District. Under May's ownership, the course hosted several prominent golf tournaments on the PGA Tour: All American Open (1941–57) and World Championship of Golf (1946–57) and the LPGA Tour: All American Open (1943–57) and World Championship (1948–57). In 1953, May's assistant, Chet Niesen, approved the presence of television cameras at the World Championship of Golf, and allowed for one hour of the tournament to be televised, a broadcast that drew approximately 2 million viewers, and marking the first time that golf would be viewed live on American television. While Chandler Harper was being declared the winner for the television audience, they saw Lew Worsham use a wedge to hit an eagle from 104 yards for an unexpected win.In 1964 and 1965, the course hosted the Western Open. Severe storms over the course of September 12–14, 2008 caused over $100,000 in damage to the course. Niles Park District Director Joe LoVerde was quoted "This is the biggest hit we've ever taken. That was one tough storm."

Superdawg is a drive-in hot dog stand with carhop service. It is located in the Norwood Park, Chicago neighborhood of Chicago, at the intersection of Milwaukee, Devon, and Nagle Avenues. Superdawg has the distinction of being one of the few original drive-in restaurants left in the United States. Its methods have been the same since it opened in 1948. A second, similar location on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling, Illinois opened in 2010.Superdawg was featured on the Food Network's television programs Unwrapped and Emeril Live, and on the PBS television programs Check, Please! and A Hot Dog Program. It has been visited by many critics and food aficionados. It is listed in the books 1,000 Places to See Before You Die and Hot Dog Chicago: A Native's Dining Guide.

Moraine Township is a township in Lake County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 34,129. Moraine Township was originally called Deerfield Township, but the name was changed on October 29, 1998.

The Norwood Park Historical District (also known as Old Norwood) is a historic district in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is bordered by Bryn Mawr, Avondale, and Harlem Avenues, and is home to the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House, which was built in 1833 and is widely considered to be the oldest house in Chicago. (However, it was not located in Chicago at the time it was built; Norwood Park was annexed to Chicago in 1893.) The historic district is also home to Norwood Park Public School, William Howard Taft High School, Norwood Park (the park), Myrtle Park, and Norwood Circle Park. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The district was first settled in 1833, when Mark Noble Sr. built his house northwest of Chicago, Illinois. However, the area remained sparsely populated when the Chicago and North Western Railway built a station there in 1864. The Norwood Park Land and Building Association (NPLBA) formed in 1868 to purchase 860 acres (350 ha) of farmland with the intention of developing a suburb. The organization was led by Thomas H. Seymour, a broker at the Chicago Board of Trade, and educator John Eberhart. The town was named after the novel Norwood, or Village Life in New England by Henry Ward Beecher; "Park" was added because another Illinois post office already held the Norwood name.

Edison Park is a park located in Edison Park community in Chicago, Illinois. The park became part of the Chicago Park District in 1936. Edison Park's historic fieldhouse was built in 1907 as a public school. The fieldhouse was designed by Solon Spencer Beman in the Arts and Crafts style. A branch of the Chicago Public Library operated out of the fieldhouse from 1937 to 1960, and the building has also served as a community center. The park contains hawthorn trees planted in the 1930s as well as a historic flagpole. In addition, the park contains a playground added in 1988, and a boulder honoring Thomas Edison dedicated in 1979. The park was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 21, 2007.

Edison Park is a commuter rail station along Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is located at 6730 North Olmstead Avenue across from Monument Park, and lies 11.4 miles (18.3 km) from Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Edison Park is in Zone C. As of 2018, Edison Park is the 69th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 752 weekday boardings.As of April 25, 2022, Edison Park is served by 22 trains in each direction on weekdays, by 16 inbound trains and 15 outbound trains on Saturdays, and by nine inbound trains and 10 outbound trains on Sundays. Edison Park Station is the northernmost station along the Union Pacific Northwest Line within Chicago’s city limits. It contains both a station house along the tracks and an open shelter in between two of them. Parking is available (with vendors), but only along the tracks on North Olmstead Avenue between Ozark and Olympia Avenues.

The Leaning Tower of Niles is a half-size replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Located in Niles, Illinois, it was completed in 1934 by industrialist Robert Ilg as part of a recreation park for employees of the Ilg Hot Air Electric Ventilating Company of Chicago. It is situated at 6300 W. Touhy Avenue.Some speculate that part of the motivation to construct the tower was to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A more likely explanation is its original functional purpose, to store water for outdoor recreational swimming pools. In 1960, the descendants of Robert Ilg donated part of the park for the construction of the Leaning Tower YMCA. Other amenities of the employees' recreational park included a wooden toboggan run, which was in decay but still visible in the 1960s. A study in 2014 concluded that the Leaning Tower of Niles is in need of about $600,000 in repairs.On November 17, 2015, the Niles Village Board approved a proposal for the village to purchase the Leaning Tower from the YMCA for $10. The Board also approved a contract to spend $550,000 to repair and renovate the building.On March 15, 2016, Niles voters passed a non-binding referendum approving of the village spending the money to renovate the tower.The Leaning Tower of Niles contains five bells. Three of the bells are thought to be several hundred years old, and to have been cast in Italy. How they came to be included in the tower is not known.The tower was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.
