City of Faith Church

Wellington Windmill was a weather boarded smock windmill which stood near to what is now Dukes Court, Barking, in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (then a part of Essex). The mill was built in 1815 to assist with work at the nearby mill at Marks Gate. It was named in celebration of his victory at the Battle of Waterloo. In the later 19th century, it was occupied by Francis Whitbourne. The Firman family later occupied the mill; and converted it to electric power in 1906. It remained in use until 1926.

St Paul's Church, East Ham or St Paul's Church, Burges Road is a Church of England parish church in East Ham, Newham, east London.The church originated as a mission church of St Mary Magdalene's. Ynyr Burges (died 1792), Paymaster of the East India Company, had built up an estate in the area late in the 18th century, which his great-grandnephew Colonel Ynyr Burges began to develop as building land from about 1887 onwards. As part of this development, he gave land for the mission to build a temporary Mission Room (the present church hall), which opened on 24 May 1908. Three years later a Building Fund was established for the construction of a permanent church and in 1914 a small iron church hall was set up alongside the church. The mission church was given a parish of its own in 1924 and on 11 April that year Kendrick W Sibley was made its first vicar. £2437 19 shillings and 10 pence had been raised by January 1931 and the diocese agreed that construction could begin on the permanent church, using Hammond and Miles of Ilford and re-using the temporary church's processional cross and stone font. The bells were recycled from a dismantled church at Wendle Lofts. In 1932 the parish's advowson was vested in the bishop of Chelmsford and on 30 September 1933 the new permanent church was consecrated, with the original church becoming a church hall.

Langdon Academy (formerly Langdon School) is a mixed all-through school with academy status, located on Sussex Road, East Ham in the London Borough of Newham, England. It is situated in East Ham, close to the junction of the A124 (Barking Road) with the North Circular Road (A406): the school playing fields border on to the A406. This is near the eastern end terminus of the A406 with the A13 in Wallend, close to the boundary of Newham and Barking and Dagenham and Barking Creek. The River Roding runs behind the school in Barking.

East Ham Depot is a depot on the London, Tilbury and Southend line between East Ham and Barking stations with the depot code EM. The depot is approximately 6+1⁄2 mi (10.5 km) from London Fenchurch Street station, and just west of the River Roding.

Barking Abbey is a former royal monastery located in Barking, in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It has been described as having been "one of the most important nunneries in the country".Originally established in the 7th century, from the late 10th century the abbey followed the Rule of St. Benedict. The abbey had a large endowment and sizeable income but suffered severely after 1377, when the River Thames flooded around 720 acres (290 ha) of the abbey's land, which was unable to be reclaimed. Despite this, at the time of the dissolution it was still the third wealthiest nunnery in England.The abbey existed for almost 900 years, until its closure in 1539, as part of King Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. It had many notable abbesses including several saints, former queens and the daughters of kings. The abbess of Barking held precedence over all other abbesses in England.The ruined remains of Barking Abbey now form part of a public open space known as Abbey Green. It is recognisable for its partially restored Grade-II* Listed Curfew Tower, which features on the coat of arms of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.Barking Abbey is also notable because the adjacent St Margaret's Church, a grade I listed building dating back to the 13th century, was built within its grounds. The Abbey Ruins are used as a venue each May for outdoor classical concerts, as well as an annual pilgrimage by members of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Wall End (sometimes spelt as Wallend) is a locality in East Ham in East London, located in the borough of Newham. It is a little-used name for the area lying to the north of Beckton between Barking and East Ham. The name stems from an embankment wall that was formerly used to prevent flooding from the river Roding at the 'end' or 'outlying part' of East Ham. Much of the area consists of terraced housing dating from the building-boom of the late 19th century.

St Margaret's Church or the Church of St Margaret of Antioch is a Church of England parish church in Barking, East London. The church is a Grade I listed building built on a site dating back to the 13th century within the grounds of Barking Abbey, the ruins of a former royal monastery that was originally established in the 7th century. The building is dedicated to Margaret the Virgin.

East End Women’s Museum (EEWM) is a virtual, pop-up museum and the only dedicated women’s museum in England. It was established in 2015 as a positive protest to a "Jack the Ripper Museum" in Cable Street. A new building in Barking town centre is scheduled to open in either 2021 or 2022.

Uphall Primary School is a primary school in the London Borough of Redbridge whose former domestic science block is grade II listed by Historic England.

The Broadway is a performance venue in Barking town centre. The building was previously a facility known as Barking Assembly Hall, forming part of Barking Town Hall.

Barking Market (also called Barking Town Centre Market) is a market located in Barking in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in East London, England. It operates on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Barking has an ancient market right issued between 1175 and 1179. The market declined in the 18th century and has since been revived. The current market dates from 1991 and was expanded in 2001.It is located on East Street, Barking and is operated by Barking and Dagenham Council. It is not to be confused with Dagenham Sunday Market, which takes its name from Dagenham where it used to be located in Chequers Lane, but which relocated to Barking, near Creekmouth, in 2002. It closed in 2020

St Luke's Church, Ilford, is a Church of England parish church in Ilford, east London. It is dedicated to Saint Luke. It originated as a temporary mission built in the parish of St Clement's in 1909. E T Dunn designed its permanent stone and redbrick church building in a Neo-Gothic imitation of Perpendicular style - he also designed St Barnabas' Church, Woodford Wells. The permanent St Luke's was consecrated in 1915, consisting of an aisled nave and transepts - the planned chancel to complete its cruciform ground plan was never built. The church's mission district was upgraded to a parish the year after the permanent church's consecration, with the advowson vested in the Bishop of Chelmsford and the old mission church converted into the parish hall.The church was severely damaged in 1940 during the London Blitz and its reconstruction was only completed in 1954, with the congregation worshipping in the 1909 church hall in the interim. In 1983 it was re-orientated, moving the liturgical east end to the church's geographical west end and adding meeting rooms, a kitchen, toilets and a chapel within the geographical east end. In 1998 the church was redecorated. The Marthoma Church currently worships on a Sunday.They are Malayali people originating from the South Indian state of Kerala.
