Consett railway station

Consett is a town in County Durham, England, about 14 miles (23 km) south-west of Newcastle upon Tyne. It had a population of 27,394 in 2001 and an estimate of 25,812 in 2019.

It is the major provider of vocational post-16 education and training in the former district of Derwentside. The Principal and Chief Executive is Chris Todd, who took over from Karen Redhead in 2019.The college's inspection report in 1997 summarised its history as: "Derwentside College was established as a tertiary college in 1986 following the decision of Durham Local Education Authority (LEA) to bring together the activities of Consett Technical College and the sixth forms of five local schools".

Carrhouse railway station, also known as Carr House railway station, served the area of Carrhouse, County Durham, England, from 1858 to 1868 on the Stanhope and Tyne Railway.

Crook Hall, sited near Lanchester, County Durham, some 8 miles (13 km) north west of the city of Durham, was one of two Roman Catholic seminaries which temporarily replaced the Douai seminary in Douai, France when that college was suppressed soon after the French Revolution. Crook Hall was itself superseded after a few years by Ushaw College.

St. Aiden's Church is a former church in the Blackhill area of Consett, County Durham, England. It was built in 1885 from sandstone with a slate roof, on land donated by the Consett Iron Company. A tower was added in 1903, which housed 8 bells cast by Mears & Stainbank in 1922. The church was granted grade II listed status in January 1987, it closed on 31st December 1995 and the bells were later transferred to South Shields. It then fell into disrepair and by December 2024 was considered such an "eyesore" that Durham County Council fined the current owners, Purvis Construction NE Ltd, £10,000 for failing to carry out essential repairs.

Delves Lane is a small village to the south of Consett, County Durham, England. The housing in the area was built as a suburb of Consett, historically providing housing for people working in the former mining and steel industries. The village has one pub: 'The Traveller's Rest'. An unclassified road passes through the village from the A692 bypassing Consett, linking up with the A691 road between Leadgate and the nearby village of Lanchester. There is a crossroads at the south end of the village, with roads heading north-east to Iveston and south-west to Knitsley. There is a village hall, which was constructed in 1925.

Knitsley is a hamlet in County Durham, in England. The name derives from Old English and means the meadow where knights were.It is situated a short distance to the south of the town of Consett. There is a pub (some way outside of the village) called The Old Mill. A telephone box once existed at the end of Hownsgill drive but this was removed many years ago due to lack of use. A railway station existed until 1964 when cutbacks in the railway system dramatically reduced rail services in Britain.
