Newport station (Delaware)

Joseph Tatnall House, also known as the "Oliver Evans House," is a historic home located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. The house is alternatively named after Newport's favorite son Oliver Evans (1755-1819), although he had no apparent historical association with it.It is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay gambrel-roofed brick building in the Georgian style. The oldest section dates to about 1750, and are the two easternmost bays. The other three bays were added later in the 18th century. A 1+1⁄2-story, gambrel-roofed ell and small one-story wings were added about 1915. The 1915 renovations were by the Krebs Pigments and Chemical Company, which carried out an extensive expansion of its facilities and used the house for administrative offices. The plant was acquired by the E. I. Du Pont de Nemours & Co. in 1929. In 1984, DuPont sold the plant to Ciba-Geigy; the plant was spun off to Ciba Specialty Chemicals in 1997 and it, and the house, were owned by the BASF branch, BASF Colors & Effects, until the branch was sold to Sun Chemical in 2021. Today, Sun Chemical Colors & Effects is the owner of the house. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

The population was 1,055 at the 2010 census. Four limited access highways, I-95, I-295, I-495, and Delaware Route 141 intersect within one mile (1.6 km) of the town.

The original section was built 18th century, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-bay, brick dwelling with a gambrel roof. The house was expanded with a frame addition to add a fourth bay in the late-19th century. It is a hall-parlor plan dwelling.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Newport National Bank is a historic bank building located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1864, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five bay by three bay, brick building with a gable roof. It has a two-story service wing. The building was renovated in 1927 in the Colonial Revival style. The buildings contained both a residence and the bank, reflecting bank rules which required that the cashier and family reside in the building as a security measure.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Newport Masonic Hall is historic building located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Armstrong Lodge No. 26, A. F. & A. M., it was built in 1913, and consists of a two-story, five bay, rectangular brick main block with a long, one-story rectangular rear wing to form a 'T'-plan. A large, arch-roofed brick addition was built in 1958. The building is in a restrained Colonial Revival style. The main block has a gable roof. It was designed with two commercial spaces on the ground floor, and a lodge room and auditorium on the second.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Lewis Weldin House was a historic home located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. It was a two-story gable-roofed brick building, seven bays wide. It was built in the late 18th century as a residential/commercial building, and renovated in 1863 by Lewis Weldin to serve as his residence. The building was demolished between 2007 and 2009. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Killgore Hall, also known as Wroten's Hardware, was a historic commercial building located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1883, and was a three-story, three bay by six bay, brick building with a flat roof and overhanging cornice. It has a one-story, one bay extension. A three-story porch spanned the east facade, with Colonial Revival columns and square balusters. It was located next to the Joseph Killgore House. The building was demolished about 2000. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

It was built in the second quarter of the 19th century, and was a two-story, three bay, frame dwelling with a gable roof in the saltbox style. It began as a 1+1⁄2-story, hall-parlor plan dwelling and later expanded. It was located next to the Killgore Hall commercial development. The house was demolished about 2000. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Collison House is a historic home located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built about 1885, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three bay by three bay, square frame dwelling with a mansard roof in the Second Empire style. The mansard roof has broad gable dormers and the house features a two-story, projecting bay. It has a full width, hipped roof porch on the front facade.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Woman's Club of Newport, also known as Newport Town Hall, is a historic clubhouse located at Newport, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1934, and is a one-story, T-plan building in the Tudor Revival style. It has a three-bay-wide, two-bay-deep, gable roofed main block with a broad wing extend to the rear, resulting in a T configuration. The roof of the wing is slightly higher than that of the front section, and terminates in a clipped "jerkinhead" gable. Originally built for the Woman's Club of Newport, in 1976, the clubhouse was sold to the Town of Newport for use as a town hall.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Belvedere is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Belvedere is at the junction of state routes 62 and 141, north of Newport and south of Prices Corner, 7 miles (11 km) from downtown Wilmington. Belvedere uses the Wilmington ZIP code of 19804.Belvedere is mostly made up of single-family homes and the commercial center is located along Newport Gap Pike. The community is served by the Belvedere Volunteer Fire Company. Police service in Belvedere is provided by the New Castle County Police Department. Students in the community attend public schools in the Red Clay Consolidated School District. Belvedere is near a Delaware Army National Guard armory and the former Wilmington Assembly plant used by General Motors. The community has five churches. The Belvedere State Service Center is located in the community, and is home to the Belvedere Senior Center, an art studio, gymnasium, and a state service center that offers social services.Belvedere was founded in 1908 as a community that housed African Americans who worked in nearby factories. In recent years, the community has seen issues with drugs and crime.DART First State provides bus service to Belvedere, with the Route 9 bus running through the community on its route between Prices Corner and Wilmington. The Wilmington train station is nearby in Wilmington and is served by Amtrak and SEPTA Regional Rail's Wilmington/Newark Line.

WTMC (1380 kHz) is a non-commercial AM radio station. It also broadcasts on FM translator station W253CQ at 98.5 MHz. WTMC serves as a traffic advisory station, a service of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) broadcasting in Wilmington, Delaware. There are signs posted around the Wilmington area advising motorists to tune to this station for traffic advisories. One such sign exists on U.S. Route 202 upon entry into Delaware from Pennsylvania. The service was started in 2000, when DelDOT purchased the license. WTMC is licensed as a conventional broadcasting station, not a travelers' information station, although the state has added synchronized repeater stations downstate on AM 1380 which are HAR/TIS stations, to extend the station's coverage. The HAR/TIS stations were provided by Information Station Specialists and comprise the largest network of HAR/TIS stations in the country - and the only one whose cardinal location is a former broadcast station, the former WAMS. Additional synchronized TIS/HAR repeaters are being added to the network.
