Willington Worthenbury (Welsh: Willington Wrddymbre) is a community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, and is situated near the England–Wales border. It has an area of 2,146 hectares and a population of 730 (2001 census), increasing to 827 at the 2011 census. It contains the villages of Worthenbury and Tallarn Green. It is located on the eastern side of the River Dee in the English Maelor area which is within the boundaries of the historic county of Flintshire. It has the lowest proportion of Welsh language speakers of all the communities in Wrexham county borough, with 88.81% having no knowledge of Welsh according to the 2001 census.

Bangor-on-Dee railway station was a station in Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 2 November 1895 and closed on 10 September 1962.

Isycoed (Welsh: Is-y-coed) is a community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It lies around 5 miles to the east of Wrexham, close to the River Dee on the border with England. There is a primary school in Bowling Bank, and a late-Georgian church, dedicated to St. Paul, in Isycoed village, which was designated as a Grade II listed building on 20 June 1996.

The Wych Brook, Worthenbury Brook and Red Brook, formerly known as the River Elfe, is a tributary of the River Dee in England and Wales, forming part of both the historic and present-day border between the two countries. The stream forms part of the border between Cheshire and Shropshire in England to the east, and Wales, particularly the Maelor Saesneg (a detached portion of Historic Flintshire, now within Wrexham County Borough), to the west.

Bangor-on-Dee (Welsh: Bangor-is-y-coed or standardised Bangor Is-coed) is a village and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, on the banks of the River Dee. Until 1974 it was in the exclave of Flintshire known as the Maelor Saesneg, and from 1974 to 1996 in the county of Clwyd. The community had a population of 1,110 at the 2011 Census.

The Maelor is an area of north-east Wales along the border with England. It is now entirely part of Wrexham County Borough. The name Maelor is an old Welsh word: it can be translated as "land of the prince", from mael ("prince") and llawr ("low ground", "region").

St Dunawd's Church, is in the village of Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building. The church is an active Anglican church in the deanery of Dee Valley, the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph.

Bangor Bridge (also known as the Bangor-on-Dee Bridge) is a Grade I listed bridge crossing the River Dee in Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is situated on the community boundary between Bangor-is-y-Coed and Sesswick. Located to the west of Bangor-on-Dee, it connects the village's high street and the A525 road bypass. The narrow bridge is a one-way traffic bridge, west to east, and is downstream (north) of the Bangor by-pass bridge.

Church Shocklach is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Shocklach Oviatt and District, in the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester and ceremonial county of Cheshire in England. In 2001 it had a population of 113, increasing to 290 at the 2011 Census. The parish included most of the village of Shocklach. The civil parish was abolished in 2015 to form Shocklach Oviatt and District.

Pickhill Halt railway station was a station in Sesswick, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 30 May 1938 and closed in 1962. The opening of the halt coincided with the building of a milk factory by Cadbury Brothers, who bought the greenfield site at auction from Mrs Randles, the 92-year old owner of the Brynafon Estate, in March 1937. The station was a single platform of wooden construction, and immediately south of the station under the adjacent road bridge was the gated siding into the factory. After the closure of the railway to passengers the line from Wrexham to Pickhill remained in use for the milk trains, while the line south of the siding was lifted. Although in 1971 the milk factory (known as Maelor Creamery) moved away from rail transport, it continued under various owners until it closed in March 2014.

Sesswick is a community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It lies south-east of Wrexham near Marchwiel. The population of the community at the 2011 Census was 609. The area was historically part of Denbighshire, where it was one of the townships of the parish of Bangor Monachorum (Bangor-on-Dee). The neighbouring township of Royton was incorporated in it in 1935. The name Sesswick, recorded as Sesewyke in 1286, is one of the names indicating an early English presence in this part of north-east Wales; it is possibly derived from the Old English personal name "Seassa", along with -wic, meaning "settlement". However, the Wrexham historian Alfred Neobard Palmer, noting that the name was recorded as Chespric (actually Chespuic) in the Domesday of Cheshire, speculated that it may have come from "Chadswick" in reference to land in the township being owned by St. Chad, the first bishop of Mercia.The community's only village is Cross Lanes: it also includes several small hamlets (though no settlement itself having the name of Sesswick). In the 2001 census Sesswick had a total population of 591 in 236 households.The area gave its name to a rural station, Sesswick Halt railway station, on the former Cambrian Railways' Wrexham and Ellesmere Railway; the line and station closed in 1962.

St Edith's Church, Shocklach, stands at the end of an isolated lane running toward the River Dee about 1 mile (2 km) to the north of the village of Shocklach, Cheshire, England. It is a small Norman church, and is one of the oldest ecclesiastical buildings in Cheshire. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building and its simple Norman work is considered to be unique in Cheshire. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Malpas. Its benefice is combined with that of St Mary, Tilston.
