Croft, Herefordshire

Croft Castle is a country house in the village of Croft, Herefordshire, England. Owned by the Croft family since 1085, the castle and estate passed out of their hands in the 18th century, before being repurchased by the family in 1923. In 1957 it was bequeathed to the National Trust. The castle is a Grade I listed building, and the estate is separately listed as Grade II*. The adjacent Church of St Michael is listed Grade I.

Croft Ambrey, an Iron Age hill fort, is to the north-west within the border of the neighbouring parish of Aymestrey.

Lucton School, is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school in Lucton near Leominster, Herefordshire, England. It was founded in 1708 as a boys' school and began admitting girls in the 1970s. It currently has c.350 pupils on roll, aged from six months to 18 years. The village is near the county boundary with Shropshire and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Ludlow. The hamlet of Bicton is to the south, Bircher to the north-east and Croft to the west. In 1961 the parish had a population of 394. On 1 April 1987 the parish was abolished and merged with Croft to form "Croft and Yarpole".The village has a gastropub, The Bell, and a parish hall.

In 1870–72 the township had a population of 214.The hamlet is located at 52°17′58″N 02°49′54″W, about 8 miles (13 km) north-west of Leominster and 12 miles (19 km) south-west of Ludlow. It is just off the A4110 road.
