Highlandlake is a tiny, unincorporated community in western Weld County, Colorado, U.S. It was founded in 1871 by "Deacon" Lorin Cassandre Mead on the eastern shore of a prairie pothole/buffalo wallow located about eight miles northeast of Longmont, Colorado.

KGUD (90.7 MHz) is a non-commercial, non-profit FM radio station licensed to Longmont, Colorado. The station is owned and operated by Longmont Community Radio. It airs an easy listening/adult standards radio format, supported by listener donations.

Berthoud is a statutory town located in Larimer and Weld counties, Colorado, United States. The town population was 10,332 at the 2020 United States Census with 10,071 residing in Larimer County and 261 residing in Weld County. Berthoud is situated north of the Little Thompson River, 21 miles (34 km) south of Fort Collins and 43 miles (69 km) north of Denver in the Front Range Urban Corridor.

The Little Thompson River Bridge, in Weld County, Colorado near Berthoud, Colorado, was built in 1938. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.It was designed by the Colorado Department of Highways, fabricated by Midwest Steel & Iron Works, and installed by contractor Gardner Brothers. The highways department specified "a rigid-connected camelback pony truss, supported by reinforced concrete abutments with angled wingwalls."The bridge was altered by addition of flex beam guardrails around 1980.It is located on what is now a service road for Interstate 25, at milepost 249.90, near Berthoud. It is the eastern-most of three north–south bridges at the site; the other two carry southbound and northbound Interstate 25 traffic.In May 2021, there is ongoing construction at I-25's Little Thompson River crossing, covered in Colorado Department of Transportation photos.

Mead High School is a high school in Longmont, Colorado, United States operated by St. Vrain Valley School District. In 2021, Mead High School was reported on by National news after 3 students appear to reenact the murder of George Floyd. In the picture, the students captioned: “Bye Bye Seniors 👋, lucky a** mfs.” Shortly after the incident, the schools principal resigned. The new principal, Brain Young, was the former principal of Frederick High School.

United Air Lines Flight 629, registration N37559 and dubbed Mainliner Denver, was a Douglas DC-6B aircraft that was blown up on November 1, 1955, by a dynamite bomb placed in the checked luggage. The explosion occurred over Longmont, Colorado, United States, at 7:03 p.m. local time, while the airplane was en route from Denver to Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. All 39 passengers and 5 crew members on board were killed in the explosion and crash.Investigators determined that John Gilbert Graham was responsible for bombing the airplane in a bid to kill his mother as revenge for his childhood and to obtain a large life insurance payout. Within fifteen months of the explosion, Graham—who already had an extensive criminal record—was tried, convicted, and executed for the crime.

KRCN (1060 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Catholic radio format. Licensed to Longmont, Colorado, the station is owned and operated by Catholic Radio Network, Inc., which has a network of stations in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. In Colorado, the Catholic Radio Network also operates KFEL 970 AM in Colorado Springs and KCRN 1120 AM in Limon. KRCN broadcasts at 50,000 watts, the maximum power for FCC-licensed AM radio stations. But because AM 1060 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A XECPAE Mexico City and KYW Philadelphia, KRCN must greatly reduce nighttime power. It drops to only 111 watts at sunset. KRCN can also be heard on an FM translator station in Greeley, Colorado, 92.1 K221GI.

The Bimson Blacksmith Shop was constructed in 1893 by Alfred G. Bimson as the first blacksmith shop in Berthoud, Colorado, USA. He designed and built the building out of native Lyons sandstone. The shop remained open until 1943. The building is currently being used by the Berthoud Historical Society to house the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum.

St. Vrain State Park, formerly known as Barbour Ponds, is a Colorado state park. The park hosts year-round camping. It is a popular birding destination, hosting the states largest rookery of Blue Heron, it is home to several other bird species as well including migrating waterfowl, songbirds and the occasional bald eagle. Other park activities include year round fishing and hiking. There are plans for a reservoir to be built at the park named Blue Heron Reservoir.

Berthoud High School is a secondary school in Berthoud, Colorado, United States. In 2014 the school was ranked 30th in the state, 1,271st in the nation, and had an AP participation rate of 42%, according to U.S. News & World Report. For the 2014–2015 school year the student body makeup was 52% male and 49% female, and the total minority enrollment was 33 percent. Berthoud High School is 1 of 5 high schools in the Thompson School District R-2J and has the highest 4-year graduation rate in the district, with 91%.The sports and extracurricular teams have a high success rate. In 2007 the football team won the state championship, and several of the members of the forensics team have gone to compete in the National Forensics League almost every year. Their Vex robotics teams, whilst not being directly part of the school, consistently rank high in the state, and have gone to the world competition several times.

Boulder Creek is a 31.4-mile-long (50.5 km) creek draining the Rocky Mountains to the west of Boulder, Colorado, as well as the city itself and surrounding plains.
