St. Vrain State Park, formerly known as Barbour Ponds, is a Colorado state park. The park hosts year-round camping. It is a popular birding destination, hosting the states largest rookery of Blue Heron, it is home to several other bird species as well including migrating waterfowl, songbirds and the occasional bald eagle. Other park activities include year round fishing and hiking. There are plans for a reservoir to be built at the park named Blue Heron Reservoir.

Mead High School is a high school in Longmont, Colorado, United States operated by St. Vrain Valley School District. In 2021, Mead High School was reported on by National news after 3 students appear to reenact the murder of George Floyd. In the picture, the students captioned: “Bye Bye Seniors 👋, lucky a** mfs.” Shortly after the incident, the schools principal resigned. The new principal, Brain Young, was the former principal of Frederick High School.

United Air Lines Flight 629, registration N37559 and dubbed Mainliner Denver, was a Douglas DC-6B aircraft that was blown up on November 1, 1955, by a dynamite bomb placed in the checked luggage. The explosion occurred over Longmont, Colorado, United States, at 7:03 p.m. local time, while the airplane was en route from Denver to Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington. All 39 passengers and 5 crew members on board were killed in the explosion and crash.Investigators determined that John Gilbert Graham was responsible for bombing the airplane in a bid to kill his mother as revenge for his childhood and to obtain a large life insurance payout. Within fifteen months of the explosion, Graham—who already had an extensive criminal record—was tried, convicted, and executed for the crime.

Left Hand Creek is a tributary of Saint Vrain Creek, approximately 33.9 miles (54.6 km) long, in Boulder County, Colorado in the United States. The creek drains a section of the foothills of the Front Range northwest of Boulder, descending from the mountains in a steep canyon, known as Left Hand Canyon. Left Hand Creek issues from Left Hand Park Reservoir along the north flank of Niwot Mountain. Flowing through a steep gorge to the East, passing below Ward (which sits roughly at the head of the canyon). It emerges from the foothills North of Boulder and crosses ranch lands the Colorado Piedmont, passing north of Niwot and joining St. Vrain Creek on the South edge of Longmont. Lower Left Hand canyon is a popular destination for road biking, hiking, whitewater kayaking and rock climbing. It contains several City of Boulder Open Space parks along the Boulder County road that ascends into the canyon from U.S. Highway 36 north of Boulder. The canyon rims provide habitat for raptors and are seasonally closed to rock climbing during the late winter and early spring during nesting season. The creek was named for Chief Left Hand of the Arapaho Indians. In 1859, during the Colorado Gold Rush, the canyon was the site of an early discovery of gold at Gold Hill located on a side gully approximately halfway up the canyon. Left Hand Creek experienced a significant flood event in September 2013. This flood killed one resident of Jamestown in a debris flow from an adjacent ravine in the town. The flood of September 2013 considerably redistributed stream sediment and re-channelized the stream bed in places. Mitigation and recovery efforts in the town of Jamestown and for all Left Hand canyon residents is ongoing in 2017. Lefthand Watershed Oversight Group, a nonprofit watershed organization based in Boulder County, works to assess, protect, and restore the quality of the Left Hand Creek Watershed.An obscure whitewater kayak run until 2000, Left Hand Canyon was first run in 1998 by Brook Aitken, Chris McEniry, and Craig D. Irwin. The whitewater kayakers first descended the Class V mini-gorge by entering through a small culvert passing under Left Hand Canyon Drive and beginning a tight and snaking boulder garden entrance through a cascade along the road. The mini gorge is below the roadway of Left Hand Canyon and is frequently choked with woody debris. The Left Hand Creek kayak run is short and full of action. The City of Boulder Mountain Parks and Open Space has one parking facility at Buckingham Park.

Firestone is a part of the Greeley, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor.

Longmont College, also known as The Landmark, is a building in Longmont, Colorado that briefly housed the city's first college from 1886 to 1889. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The Presbyterian Synod of Colorado originally commissioned the design of a much larger building for the site to house what was to become Longmont Presbyterian College. The south wing was built in 1886: a two-story brick building in the Italianate style. Due to financial problems, this was the only wing completed, and the college closed after only three years, reopening as a preparatory school, Longmont Academy. The building later housed Longmont High School and a series of Catholic schools before being sold and subdivided into apartments during the post-World War II housing shortage.

Highlandlake is a tiny, unincorporated community in western Weld County, Colorado, U.S. It was founded in 1871 by "Deacon" Lorin Cassandre Mead on the eastern shore of a prairie pothole/buffalo wallow located about eight miles northeast of Longmont, Colorado.

The United Church of Christ of Highlandlake is a historic church near Mead, Colorado. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.It has stained glass windows, which were not common among the wood-frame churches on Colorado's plains.Built in 1896, the church is typical of Eastern Colorado's wooden-frame vernacular churches of the era. The Highlandlake United Church of Christ congregation formed in 1881; until it was able to raise the money for a church building, it met in the town's school. Mary G. Bumstead, the church's first permanent minister and a rare example of a woman leading a congregation at the time, was instrumental in the church's fundraising efforts. The church features a clapboard exterior, a belfry, and stained glass windows; the latter are uncommon in vernacular churches due to their expense, and were funded through gifts Bumstead solicited. The church is the last original community building in Highlandlake, as most of its residents moved to Mead when the railroad bypassed Highlandlake. The church was used briefly in 1989 for the filming of the movie Die Hard 2, producers paid for a new roof and built a fake entranceway, with front doors and matching facade onto the rear of the building.
