The station is wheelchair-accessible via elevators.The station was opened in 2001, when the section of line L3 from Montbau station to Canyelles station was inaugurated. Access to the station is provided by an underground passageway allowing passengers to cross under the Ronda de Dalt; access is by stairs, escalators, and elevators north of the station, and level to the south, allowing the station to be supplied with natural light. Nou Barris (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈnɔw ˈβaris], lit. "nine neighbourhoods") is one of the ten districts into which Barcelona has been officially divided since 1984. The name refers to the original nine neighbourhoods it was composed of, even though nowadays it's made up of thirteen. It covers an area of 8.04 km2. La Guineueta (Catalan pronunciation: [lə ɣinəˈwɛtə]; "The Little Vixen") is one of the nine original neighbourhoods that gave name to the district Nou Barris (literally, nine neighbourhoods) in Barcelona. Actually, the district have 13 neighbourhoods. Its size is about 57 ha. located between Parc Central dels Nou Barris and Parc de la Guineueta, and between Plaça de Karl Marx and Plaça de Llucmajor. Modern construction in the area began in the 1950s, and was settled by migrants from other parts of Spain. Before then there were just a few abandoned vineyards and cereal fields and the ruins of an aqueduct. The name of the neighbourhood means "little fox" in Catalan and was the name of a mas (a country house) of the area. The area known as Guineueta Nova was renamed as Canyelles in the 1970s.

The Recinte Mundet, also known as the Llars Mundet, Hogares Mundet or Campus Mundet, is an area of the Spanish and Catalan city of Barcelona, within the district of Horta-Guinardó and neighbourhood of Montbau. It originally housed a charitable institution, founded in 1957 by the Catalan-Mexican philanthropist Artur Mundet, which cared for orphans, the elderly, sick and needy. Today it houses a campus of the University of Barcelona, together with various educational and social services of the Barcelona Provincial Council. Mundet station, on line L3 of the Barcelona Metro, is 5 minutes walk from the campus.
