Nou Barris (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈnɔw ˈβaris], lit. "nine neighbourhoods") is one of the ten districts into which Barcelona has been officially divided since 1984. The name refers to the original nine neighbourhoods it was composed of, even though nowadays it's made up of thirteen. It covers an area of 8.04 km2. It is located in the northern part of the city adjacent to two other districts of Barcelona: Sant Andreu and Horta-Guinardó and grew up extensively out of small urbanised areas near the former municipalities of Sant Joan d'Horta and Sant Andreu de Palomar (now neighbourhoods of Barcelona) in the 20th century, especially from the 1950s on. The district council is located in a former mental institution, the Institut Mental de la Santa Creu.

Plaça de la República (in Catalan, meaning in English: Republic Square), previously called "Plaça de Llucmajor" is a square in Barcelona, unofficially regarded as the nucleus of its Nou Barris district. It's the intersection of three avenues: Passeig de Valldaura, Passeig de Verdum and Via Júlia, Barcelona. Besides, it's the official border between four neighbourhoods of the district: Guineueta, Prosperitat, Porta and Verdum. Being scarcely more than a roundabout, its center is occupied since 1990 by a 30-metre high metal monument made by Josep Viladomat in the 1930s called La República, with the effigy of Francesc Pi i Margall. The monument was originally located in the much more famous intersection between Passeig de Gràcia and Avinguda Diagonal, which is nowadays still crowned by a Francoist monument.The November 29, 2015 the City Council announced the upcoming change of name of the square, which will be renamed "Plaça de la República". The change will be effective on April 14, 2016.

Canyelles (Catalan pronunciation: [kəˈɲɛʎəs]) is a Barcelona Metro station, named after the nearby Canyelles neighbourhood, in the Nou Barris district of the city of Barcelona. The station is served by line L3.The station is located under Carrer de Federico García Lorca and Via Favència-Ronda de Dalt. It has an access on each side of the station on to Mercat-García Lorca and Via Favència, and Parc de Josep Maria Serra Martí. The single 100-metre (330 ft) long island platform is flanked by two tracks.The station was opened in 2001, when the section of line L3 was extended from Montbau station. It remained the terminus of line L3 until 2008, when the line was further extended to Trinitat Nova station.Canyelles station was designed by Alfons Soldevila and is considerably more modern-looking than most of the city's other stations.

Llucmajor is a Barcelona Metro station, on L4. Part of the extension of that line from Guinardó into Nou Barris opened in 1982, it takes its name from Plaça de Llucmajor, the previous name of Plaça de la República, the central square of the district. The station is located under Passeig de Verdum, between carrer de Lorena and carrer de Formentor, and can be accessed from that intersection and from Jardins d'Alfàbia.

Roquetes is a Barcelona Metro station, named after the nearby Roquetes neighbourhood, in the Nou Barris district of the city of Barcelona. The station is served by line L3.The station can be accessed from Carrer Jaume Pinent, Carrer de les Torres and Parc de Roquetes, near Carrer Vidal i Guasch. It's a mixture of a ground-level station with the current deepest sub-surface platform in the system. The single island platform is flanked by two tracks.The station was opened on 4 October 2008, when the section of line L3 from Canyelles station to Trinitat Nova station was inaugurated.The current Roquetes station should not be confused with Via Júlia station, on L4, which was known as Roquetes before 1999.

Via Júlia is a Barcelona Metro station, on L4. It opened in 1982 but didn't take its current name until 1999; before then it was known as Roquetes (name recently retaken by another station). It's located in the Roquetes area of the Nou Barris district, underneath Via Júlia, an important road in the area, between two streets: Carrer de Joaquim Valls and Carrer d'Argullós and can be accessed from both sides of the road.
