Marana Regional Airport

On 8 April 2000, a V-22 Osprey aircraft operated by the United States Marine Corps crashed during a night training exercise at Marana Regional Airport near Tucson, Arizona. The crash killed all 19 U.S. Marines on board and intensified debate about the reliability of the Osprey. It was later determined that the aircraft had entered an aerodynamic condition known as vortex ring state, which resulted from a high rate of descent compounded by pilot error. As a result of the investigation findings, the V-22 was subject to further redesign, and eventually entered operational service in 2007.

Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility (MCCTF) is one of 13 prison facilities in Arizona housing prisoners of the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC). The facility is located in Marana, Pima County, Arizona, approximately 100 miles south of Phoenix, Arizona. The facility is a secure, minimum custody private prison under contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections to provide custody and substance abuse treatment for 450 adult male offenders who have demonstrated a need for substance or alcohol abuse intervention. The facility opened on October 7, 1994. It is operated and managed by Management and Training Corporation of Utah. MCCTF has an inmate capacity of approximately 450 in 1 housing unit at security levels 2. The ADC uses a score classification system to assess inmates appropriate custody and security level placement. The scores range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest risk or need.

The White Stallion Ranch, in Picture Rocks, Pima County, Arizona near Tucson, is a historic guest ranch. It is one of only two surviving dude ranches of the Tucson area, where there once were 20 or so. It was founded in 1900 as squatter's cattle ranch. Legal ownership was established via homesteading in 1936, and it was opened as a guest ranch, also known as a dude ranch, in the early 1940s, when it was known as the CB Bar Ranch. Six buildings where guests could stay were built after the property was acquired by Max Zimmerman in 1945, and it became the MZ Bar Ranch. Or it was bought in 1940 by "Chicago liquor store owner Max Zimmerman", who had moved to the area "to become part of the once vibrant guest ranching industry in Tucson."Its 3,000 acres (12 km2) property adjoins the Saguaro National Park's western unit, the Tucson Mountain District, to the south. The MZ Bar Ranch grew a reputation in the film industry, and its vicinity was a filming location for numerous westerns, including The Last Round-Up (1947), Relentless (1948), The Gal Who Took the West (1949), and Winchester 73 (1950). It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America (HHA), a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and was an HHA "Awards of Excellence" winner in 2016.

Brawley Wash is an ephemeral stream, tributary to the Santa Cruz River, located in Pima County. Its source is in the Altar Valley between the Sierrita and Coyote Mountains at 31°58′20″N 111°23′29″W, at the confluence of the Altar and Alambre washes along Arizona State Route 286. It flows north-north east through the Altar Valley and turns north as it enters Avra Valley near Robles Junction (also known as Three Points) where Arizona State Route 86 crosses the streambed. The wash traverses the Avra Valley between the Roskruge Mountains and the Tucson Mountains. It joins the Santa Cruz east of the Samaniego Hills of the Silver Bell Mountains. The wash is known as the Los Robles Wash near its junction with the Santa Cruz approximately six miles west of Avra and Interstate 10.The name is supported by the Geographic Names Information System.

The Avra Valley Solar Generating Station is a 34 MW (DC, 25 MW AC) photovoltaic power plant in Avra Valley, Pima County, Arizona, owned by NRG. It uses single axis tracking that is designed to be maintenance free over the twenty year design life of the system. The panels are mounted on a north-south axis and rotate each day to follow the sun from sunrise to sunset, increasing the output by about 20%. Power is being sold to Tucson Electric Power in a 20-year power purchase agreement.
