Marana High School is one of three high schools for the town of Marana, Arizona. It was established in 1975.

The Avra Valley Solar Generating Station is a 34 MW (DC, 25 MW AC) photovoltaic power plant in Avra Valley, Pima County, Arizona, owned by NRG. It uses single axis tracking that is designed to be maintenance free over the twenty year design life of the system. The panels are mounted on a north-south axis and rotate each day to follow the sun from sunrise to sunset, increasing the output by about 20%. Power is being sold to Tucson Electric Power in a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The White Stallion Ranch, in Picture Rocks, Pima County, Arizona near Tucson, is a historic guest ranch. It is one of only two surviving dude ranches of the Tucson area, where there once were 20 or so. It was founded in 1900 as squatter's cattle ranch. Legal ownership was established via homesteading in 1936, and it was opened as a guest ranch, also known as a dude ranch, in the early 1940s, when it was known as the CB Bar Ranch. Six buildings where guests could stay were built after the property was acquired by Max Zimmerman in 1945, and it became the MZ Bar Ranch. Or it was bought in 1940 by "Chicago liquor store owner Max Zimmerman", who had moved to the area "to become part of the once vibrant guest ranching industry in Tucson."Its 3,000 acres (12 km2) property adjoins the Saguaro National Park's western unit, the Tucson Mountain District, to the south. The MZ Bar Ranch grew a reputation in the film industry, and its vicinity was a filming location for numerous westerns, including The Last Round-Up (1947), Relentless (1948), The Gal Who Took the West (1949), and Winchester 73 (1950). It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America (HHA), a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and was an HHA "Awards of Excellence" winner in 2016.

On 8 April 2000, a V-22 Osprey aircraft operated by the United States Marine Corps crashed during a night training exercise at Marana Regional Airport near Tucson, Arizona. The crash killed all 19 U.S. Marines on board and intensified debate about the reliability of the Osprey. It was later determined that the aircraft had entered an aerodynamic condition known as vortex ring state, which resulted from a high rate of descent compounded by pilot error. As a result of the investigation findings, the V-22 was subject to further redesign, and eventually entered operational service in 2007.

Marana Regional Airport (IATA: AVW, ICAO: KAVQ, FAA LID: AVQ), also known as Marana Northwest Regional Airport or Avra Valley Airport, is a non-towered, general aviation airport about 15 miles (13 nmi; 24 km) northwest of Tucson, Arizona in Marana a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. In 1999, the airport was purchased from Pima County by the town of Marana. According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2007–2011, it is categorized as a relief airport. It is not served by any commercial airlines at this time. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Marana Regional Airport is assigned AVQ by the FAA and AVW by the IATA.

Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility (MCCTF) is one of 13 prison facilities in Arizona housing prisoners of the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC). The facility is located in Marana, Pima County, Arizona, approximately 100 miles south of Phoenix, Arizona. The facility is a secure, minimum custody private prison under contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections to provide custody and substance abuse treatment for 450 adult male offenders who have demonstrated a need for substance or alcohol abuse intervention. The facility opened on October 7, 1994. It is operated and managed by Management and Training Corporation of Utah. MCCTF has an inmate capacity of approximately 450 in 1 housing unit at security levels 2. The ADC uses a score classification system to assess inmates appropriate custody and security level placement. The scores range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest risk or need.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a 98-acre (40 ha) zoo, aquarium, botanical garden, natural history museum, publisher, and art gallery founded in 1952. Located just west of Tucson, Arizona, it features two miles (3.2 km) of walking paths traversing 21 acres (8.5 ha) of desert landscape. It is one of the most visited attractions in Southern Arizona.The nonprofit organization focuses on the interpretation of the natural history, plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert. The museum is home to more than 230 animal species and 1,200 varieties of plants. It is open every day through the year, and hosts nearly 400,000 visitors annually, including visitors from abroad. The museum is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, a member of the American Alliance of Museums and the American Public Gardens Association.

Rillito is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pima County, Arizona, United States, surrounded by the town of Marana. The largest business in the community is Arizona Portland Cement and the community has had a post office since the 1920s. There is a regional park and recreation center (Rillito Vista Community Center) in the middle of the community. Rillito has the ZIP Code of 85654; in 2000, the population of the 85654 ZCTA was 148.

Brawley Wash is an ephemeral stream, tributary to the Santa Cruz River, located in Pima County. Its source is in the Altar Valley between the Sierrita and Coyote Mountains at 31°58′20″N 111°23′29″W, at the confluence of the Altar and Alambre washes along Arizona State Route 286. It flows north-north east through the Altar Valley and turns north as it enters Avra Valley near Robles Junction (also known as Three Points) where Arizona State Route 86 crosses the streambed. The wash traverses the Avra Valley between the Roskruge Mountains and the Tucson Mountains. It joins the Santa Cruz east of the Samaniego Hills of the Silver Bell Mountains. The wash is known as the Los Robles Wash near its junction with the Santa Cruz approximately six miles west of Avra and Interstate 10.The name is supported by the Geographic Names Information System.

Marana is a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States, located northwest of Tucson, with a small portion in Pinal County. According to the 2010 census, the population of the town is 34,961. From 1990 to 2000, Marana was the fourth fastest-growing place among all cities and towns in Arizona of any size.

Marana Unified School District (MUSD) is an above average, public school district located in Marana, AZ, comprising 17 schools in Pima County, Arizona. It has its headquarters in Marana. It has 12,293 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 19 to 1, about 650 teachers. According to state test scores, 42% of students are at least proficient in math and 42% in reading. Founded in the early 1920s, MUSD's boundaries include 550 square miles (1,400 km2) of land.
