Belle River District High School

Belle River is a community in Lakeshore, Essex County, Ontario, Canada. The population was 9,650 as of 2015.

The John Freeman Walls Historic Site and Underground Railroad Museum is a 20-acre (81,000 m2) historical site located in Puce, now Lakeshore, Ontario, about 40 km east of Windsor. Today, many of the original buildings remain, and in 1985, the site was opened as an Underground Railroad museum. The site forms part of the African-Canadian Heritage Tour in Southern Ontario.

The Comber Wind Farm is a 165.6 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Lakeshore, Ontario, consisting of 72 2.3 MW Siemens SWT 2.3 wind turbines with 101 meter diameter rotors. Construction was completed in January 2012. It is adjacent to the Gosfield Wind Project.

Essex/Billing Airstrip (TC LID: CEB8) is located 1.9 nautical miles (3.5 km; 2.2 mi) east of Essex, Ontario, Canada, near Marshfield.

The Gosfield Wind Project is a 50.6 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Kingsville, Ontario, consisting of 22 2.3 MW Siemens SWT 2.3 wind turbines with 49 metre long blades. Construction was completed in October 2010 for CDN 149 million.

Essex County is a primarily rural county in Southwestern Ontario, Canada comprising seven municipalities: Amherstburg, Kingsville, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Leamington, Tecumseh and the administrative seat, Essex.

Essex was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of the Province of Canada, in Canada West, at the south-western tip of the Ontario Peninsula. It was created in 1841, upon the establishment of the Province of Canada by the union of Upper Canada and Lower Canada. Essex was represented by one member in the Legislative Assembly. It was abolished in 1867, upon the creation of Canada and the province of Ontario.

St. Clair Beach is a community on Lake Saint Clair in the town of Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada. Until 1998, the village was a separate entity (formerly part of Maidstone Township), but was amalgamated into Tecumseh. St. Clair Beach is known for its old-fashioned street name signs along Riverside Drive, a large shopping plaza at the corner of Manning Road (Essex County Road 19) and Tecumseh Road (Essex County Road 2), a private golf course Beach Grove Golf and Country Club, scenic bike trails, and even large whiskey cellars where Hiram Walker Distillery stores its Canadian Club spirits to age for a few years (actually in neighbouring Lakeshore).

École secondaire catholique l'Essor is a publicly funded separate (Catholic), French-language high school located in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada (formerly St. Clair Beach), established in 1979. It serves the Francophone population of Essex County. The name l'Essor, coined by local resident Florence Limoges, is a portmanteau combining "Essex" and "Windsor". Essor also refers to the French word "to take flight". The school belongs to the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence. The small school participates in a wide variety of local activities in the Francophone community. A notable example is the Franco Bowl, an annual football match against neighboring Windsor's French Catholic high-school, École secondaire E.J. Lajeunesse. The school has a very high percentage of graduates and high test scores.

Essex railway station (aka Old Michigan Central Station) is a railway station building in Essex, Ontario, Canada, constructed by the Michigan Central Railroad in 1887, and is now operated by a local heritage group, Heritage Essex Inc.

The Essex Memorial Arena was an ice-hockey arena in Essex, Ontario, Canada constructed in 1960-1961. The capacity of the Essex Memorial Arena was 1,501 and it served as the home ice for the Essex 73's of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League from 1973–2009. During that time the 73's won 16 Great Lakes League Championships and 6 Ontario Junior C titles, The 2008–2009 season was to be the final year for the 73's at the Essex Memorial Arena and in that year the 73's captured the Ontario Junior C crown finishing with a perfect 31-0 record in the arena. A replacement arena was completed in September 2009. Various groups including Essex Minor Hockey continued to use the arena until it was demolished in the summer of 2015.
