Aethwy Rural District

Dwyran was a rural district in the administrative county of Anglesey, Wales from 1894 to 1933. The rural district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894 from the part of Carnarvon Rural Sanitary District in Anglesey. It took its name from the village of Dwyran, which lay at its centre. The district consisted of five civil parishes: Llanfair Cwmmwd Llangaffo Llangeinwen Llanidan NewboroughThe rural district was abolished in 1933, when a county review order amalgamated it into an enlarged Aethwy Rural District.

St Ceinwen's Church, Llangeinwen, is a Grade II* listed building in Anglesey, north Wales. It is 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) from the neighbouring St Mary's Church, Llanfair-yn-y-Cwmwd. The historic environment service of the Welsh government, Cadw, says that: Two sisters, Ceinwen and Dwynwen, founded this church and the now-ruined church on nearby Llanddwyn Island. Both churches were subsequently dedicated to their founders, which is unusual. The present building at Llangeinwen is 12th century and has been in constant use since then. It is grade II* listed. The north and south walls of the nave are of this period, those of the chancel being medieval. The north chapel was added in 19th century as was the tower; gravestones of 9th and 11th centuries are built into the buttresses. The decorated stone font is 13th century. There is a blocked up 12th century doorway on the north wall of the nave. The brass chandeliers are from the early 19th century. Named for St Ceinwen, the church is located within an enclosed churchyard on the NW side of the A4080, 800m West of the village of Dwyran.

Llangeinwen is a village on the island of Anglesey in the community of Rhosyr. It is the location of St Ceinwen's Church, Llangeinwen.Welsh educator and founder of Aberystwyth University, Hugh Owen was born in the village.

Dwyran is a village on the island of Anglesey, in north-west Wales, in the community of Rhosyr. Population 2011 census was 603. The first prototype Land Rover off-road vehicle was built Dwyran in 1947.

St Mary's Church, Llanfair-yn-y-Cwmwd is a small medieval parish church near the village of Dwyran, in Anglesey, north Wales. The building probably dates from the 15th century, with some alterations. It contains a 12th-century carved stone font and a 13th-century decorated coffin lid. The bell is inscribed with the year of its casting, 1582. The historian Henry Rowlands was vicar of St Mary's in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Maurice Wilks, who invented the Land Rover, is buried in the churchyard. Although at one time during the 19th century St Mary's was too dilapidated to permit services to be held, repairs were carried out in the 19th century. The church is used for worship by the Church in Wales, one of five in a combined parish. Services are held once per month between April and September. St Mary's is a Grade II* listed building, a national designation given to "particularly important buildings of more than special interest", in particular because it is regarded as "a good example of a simple, substantially unaltered, late Medieval church". It is also said to be "an important survival" because many of the older churches in Anglesey were extensively rebuilt or repaired during the 19th century, and the alterations at St Mary's were less extensive.

The A4080 is a British A road which is located on the Island of Anglesey, Wales. It follows a very roundabout route from the A5 road at Llanfairpwllgwyngyll via Newborough and Rhosneigr back to the A55 and the A5 about 9 miles (14 km) south of Holyhead. In all the road is about 17 miles (27 km) long.

St Caffo's Church, Llangaffo is a 19th-century church, in the south of Anglesey, north Wales, about 5 miles (8.0 km) from the county town, Llangefni. It was constructed in 1846 to replace the previous medieval church in the village of Llangaffo. The new building includes a number of monuments from the old church, and has a spire which is a prominent local landmark. The churchyard has part of a stone cross dating from the 9th or 10th century, and some gravestones from the 9th to 11th centuries. It is dedicated to St Caffo, a 6th-century martyr who was killed in the vicinity. The church is still in use as part of the Church in Wales, one of four churches in a combined parish. It is a Grade II listed building, a designation given to "buildings of special interest, which warrant every effort being made to preserve them", in particular because it is regarded as "a mid 19th-century rural church, consistently articulated and detailed in an Early English style".

Llangaffo is a village in Anglesey, in north-west Wales. It lies along the B4419 and B4421 roads, north of Dwyran, south of Gaerwen and northwest of Llanidan. It is named after Caffo, a 6th-century saint. A church, St Caffo's Church, is named after him. A war memorial, a village hall and a primary school are also located in the village. The 1851 census recorded 138 people in the village, 75 males, 63 females and a parish area of 1,590 acres (640 ha). It is in the community of Rhosyr. The 2011 census recorded a population of 357.

Newborough (Welsh: Niwbwrch) is a village in the south-western corner of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales; it is in the community (and former electoral ward) of Rhosyr, which has a population of 2,169, increasing to 2,226 at the 2011 census. the village itself having a population of 892 with 68% born in Wales.
