Frazier Lake Airpark (FAA LID: 1C9) is a small privately owned, public use non-towered airport located near Hollister, in San Benito County, California, United States. It is located between two valleys that run from San Jose to Hollister. The nearest notable cities near Frazier Lake are Gilroy and Hollister. Frazier Lake has two runways, one turf and one water. The turf runway, 5/23, is closed when it is too wet to avoid aircraft landing on a too-soft runway. It may also be closed at other times as necessary. The first Saturday of each month is antique airplane display day. Antique and homebuilt aircraft are on display and the public is invited to view them.

KAZA (1290 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Gilroy, California, and serving the Santa Clara Valley. It airs a radio format of Vietnamese language music and talk, and is branded Viên Thao Radio. The station is owned by Tron Dinh Do, through licensee Intelli, LLC.By day, KAZA is powered at 1,500 watts. To reduce interference to other stations on 1290 AM, it reduces power at night to 19 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna at all times.

Rancho Llano de Tesquisquita was a 16,016-acre (64.81 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Benito County and Santa Clara County, California given in 1835 by Governor José Castro to José María Sanchez. The name means "flats of Tesquisquita". The grant extended between the Pajaro River and Tesquisquita Slough, south of present-day Gilroy.

Llagas Creek is a perennial stream in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The headwaters rise on the eastern side of Crystal Peak near Loma Prieta. From there, the creek flows northeast along Casa Loma Road, until it reaches Uvas Road, and then turns south. At Oak Glen Avenue, the creek turns southeast, passing through Chesbro Reservoir, and the cities of Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy. The creek continues its southward flow, eventually joining with the Pajaro River at the San Benito County line. The lower Llagas Creek, south of Gilroy, passes through a system of percolation ponds (Lower Miller Slough) which are used to treat wastewater in the area.

The San Ysidro District AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Santa Clara County, California. It is part of the larger Santa Clara Valley AVA and is located in the foothills of the Diablo Range. San Ysidro District is significantly cooler than other parts of Santa Clara Valley. Cooling breezes can reach the area via the Pajaro River which cuts into the nearby foothills.

The Crews Fire was a wildfire that burned east of the city of Gilroy in Santa Clara County, California, in the United States. The fire started on July 5, 2020. It burned 5,513 acres (2,231 ha) and was extinguished on July 13, 2020. Burning approximately three miles east of Highway 101, the fire caused the evacuation approximately 20 homes and 70 residents. One structure was destroyed, one was damaged, and one firefighter was injured. It threatened 30 structures and farm and ranch lands in southeast Gilroy in the San Juan Valley. Mandatory evacuations were ordered on July 5, and they were lifted on July 8.

Uvas Creek is a 29.5-mile-long (47.5 km) mainly southward-flowing stream originating on Loma Prieta peak of the Santa Cruz Mountains, in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The creek descends through Uvas Canyon County Park into Uvas Reservoir near Morgan Hill, and on through Uvas Creek Preserve and Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy. Upon passing U.S. Highway 101 it is known as Carnadero Creek (also known as lower Uvas Creek), shortly before the confluence with the Pajaro River at the Santa Clara County - San Benito County boundary.

Tar Creek is an 8-mile-long (13 km) mainly southeastward-flowing stream originating on the eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains, in southern Santa Clara County, California, United States. Tar Creek flows through the Sargent Ranch, once the Rancho Juristac Mexican Land grant. It crosses under U.S. Highway 101 and about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Gilroy, California joins lower Uvas Creek (also known as Carnadero Creek). From the Tar Creek confluence, lower Uvas Creek flows shortly south to its confluence with the Pajaro River at the Santa Clara County - San Benito County boundary.

Rancho Las Ánimas (also called Las Ánimas o La Poza de Carnedero or La Brea) was a 26,519-acre (107.32 km2) Spanish land concession in present-day Santa Clara County given in 1803 by Viceroy Félix Berenguer de Marquina to José Mariano Castro. The rancho was regranted in 1835 to Castro's widow Josefa Romero de Castro by Mexican Governor José Figueroa. The present-day city of Gilroy is within the grant.

A California Distinguished School, GECA regularly ranks among the top high schools in California and consistently ranks within the top 1% of the best high schools in the United States.Founded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GECA operates as an early college school, requiring its students to receive their college preparatory education through a mixture of honors high school classes, Advanced Placement (AP), and college classes, offered through partnership with Gavilan College, allowing most GECA students to graduate high school with an associate's degree.
