Melton Halt railway station

Melton is a village in the civil parish of Welton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated about 8 miles (13 km) west of Kingston upon Hull city centre near to the Humber Estuary and about 0.6 miles (1 km) east of the village of Welton, with which it is nearly contiguous.

South Hunsley School & Sixth Form College is a large secondary school and sixth form, situated in Melton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, near the A63. In April 2010, the school became an Academy.

Welton (or Welton with Melton) is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The parish extends to the bank of the Humber Estuary at its southern extreme, and into the Yorkshire Wolds in the northern part. The A63 road and Hull to Selby railway line both bisect the parish east–west, south of Melton and Welton. The civil parish is formed by the villages of Welton and Melton and the hamlet of Wauldby. According to the 2011 census, Welton parish had a population of 2,176, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 1,560. Welton village is situated approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of the town of Brough on the north side of the A63 road to Kingston upon Hull. It is on the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, a long distance footpath. Major landmarks in the parish include Welton Waters, a former clay pit, and home of Welton Waters Adventure Centre and Welton Sailing Club; Melton Bottom Quarry, a chalk quarry in Melton; and the Melton West and Melton Park industrial estates. The exposed boulder clay at Red Cliff on the Humber bank is an archaeological site returning Roman deposits. Minor landmarks and sites of interest include Nut Wood and Wauldby Scrogs (now a Woodland Trust property) in Wauldby, and the Raikes mausoleum within the wooded valley of Welton Dale.

North Ferriby is a village and civil parish in the Haltemprice area of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

Ferriby railway station serves the village of North Ferriby in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern. It is situated on the former Hull and Selby Railway, 7+1⁄2 miles (12.1 km) west of Hull Paragon. It has a slightly unusual layout, in that the eastbound platform is located on the main running line but the westbound one is on a loop which continues on towards Brough. The line from Gilberdyke towards Hull through here was quadrupled at the beginning of the 20th century by the NER but reduced to mainly double track again by British Rail in the early 1970s - the section from here westwards though kept the additional running line to allow it to serve a (now demolished) cement works next to the line at Melton Halt, so the westbound platform was left unaltered whereas the opposite one was extended outwards to meet the running line.

North Ferriby Priory was a priory in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, founded about 1160 by William de Vescy as a preceptory for the Knights Templar, after whose suppression it became a priory of the Austin canons. According to others, it was founded about 1200 by Lord Eustace Broomfleet de Vesci. One of the canons was usually appointed vicar of the church in North Ferriby. The priory was suppressed on 13 August 1536. The buildings have been demolished since. The priory is still remembered in the street name "Priory Avenue" and in the "Priory Rooms" of the 20th-century village hall.

Hull City Ladies F.C. is an English women's football club. They currently play in the FA Women's National League Division One North. They are not affiliated with Hull City A.F.C. and are based in Hull. Hull City Ladies home ground for the 2022–23 season is Easy Buy Stadium, Barton-upon-Humber, DN18 5RL.

North Ferriby Football Club is a football club based in North Ferriby in the Haltemprice area of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Established in 2019 after North Ferriby United folded, they are currently members of the Northern Premier League Division One East and play at The Dransfield Stadium.

Brough Aerodrome (ICAO: EGNB) was a private use aerodrome located at Brough, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is now disused with the last known flight out of the airfield occurring in 2011. The airfield closed in 2013. The site is now crossed by a new road "Baffin Way" serving the town.

Wauldby is a region in the Yorkshire Wolds within the civil parish of Welton in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It contains the gentrified hamlet around Wauldby Manor Farm, and a few other minor dwellings including Little Wauldby Farm. Wauldby was once the site of a village; the habitation was abandoned in mediaeval times.

Elloughton-cum-Brough is a civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated 12 miles (19 km) to the west of Hull city centre and covering an area of 975.545 hectares (2,410.62 acres).It comprises the town of Brough and the village of Elloughton. In 2011, the parish council resolved to be called the Elloughton-cum-Brough Town Council.According to the 2011 UK census, Elloughton-cum-Brough parish had a population of 10,075, an increase on the 2001 UK census figure of 7,388.

Read's Island is an island situated just outside the Ancholme sluice, on the Humber Estuary in England. The Lincolnshire Trust suggest it is an artificial island, and a report from 1979 says that it was reclaimed. However, the site was for many years a large sandbank going by the name of "Old Warp" and is shown on the 1734 Customs Map of the Humber where Read's Island now lays, and extending further downstream. A local history website about Barton-Upon-Humber indicates that both are true. It says that two wrecks, including one which locals deliberately scuttled, helped to form the island off South Ferriby. The scuttling was to protect the banks on the southern shore.In 1872, it was described as being 300 acres, in 1886 it was 491 acres whilst in 2008 it was 200 acres. Flooding in 2007 left the island depleted of areas for avocets to breed, so a programme of rebuilding was instituted.
