Upper Tamar Lake

Thurdon is a hamlet in the parish of Kilkhampton, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.

Alfardisworthy is a hamlet in Devon, England, which straddles the border with Cornwall. To the northwest is a reservoir, named Upper Tamar Lake, which provides water for the town of Bude and surrounding areas. To the south is Lower Tamar Lake which was constructed to supply the Bude Canal with water. Alfardisworthy is in the parish of Bradworthy.

Lower Tamar Lake is located on the Devon-Cornwall border, in England, near Thurdon.It was constructed in the 1820s to supply water to the Bude Canal. It is now a nature reserve. It is also a popular fishing lake. The reservoir has been formed by damming the River Tamar. To the north (upstream) is the newer Upper Tamar Lake, a reservoir used for public water supply. The county boundary originally ran along the (natural) route of the River Tamar, but was re-aligned along a (now disused) re-routing of the river to the reservoir's west side, placing the lake in Devon.There are several short walks at the lake, such as the aqueduct trail. This is a path following the canal that reaches a small building showing the history of the lake. Another walk that can be taken is towards upper lake. this route is also popular for cyclists.

West Youlstone is a hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies seven miles north north west of Bude and north of Kilkhampton along the A39 road. It belongs to the parish of Morwenstow, and lies to the east of it. East Youlstone is immediately to the east but is in Devon.

Dunsdon National Nature Reserve is a nature reserve of the Devon Wildlife Trust, near Dunsdon and about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north-west of Holsworthy, in Devon, England. The habitat is culm grassland.

Kilkhampton (Cornish: Kylgh) is a village and civil parish in northeast Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is on the A39 about four miles (6 km) north-northeast of Bude. Kilkhampton was mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Chilchetone". The population of the parish was 1,193 in the 2001 census. This increased to 1,368 in the 2011 census The remains of a late Norman period motte-and-bailey castle known as Penstowe Castle are located 500 metres west of the village. Further west, at Stowe is the site of Stowe House, the grand mansion of John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath, built in 1680 but demolished in 1739: some of the stonework was reused at Penstowe, also in the parish.Kilkhampton has a post office, a primary school, and a community centre called the Grenville Rooms. There are three general stores, two pubs, and a selection of shops including an electrical goods store. There is also an MOT test station and an agricultural supply depot. The village was surveyed for the Survey of English Dialects. A crater on Mars has been named Kilkhampton.

Killarney Springs was a leisure park situated near Bude in Cornwall. The park was established in 1990, and opened for the 1991 summer season. The park had an indoor adventure play centre, a boating lake, a tobogganing slope, go karts, bumper boats and an assault course. In 2005, a new range of attractions were brought to the park with the 'Family Fun Fair', which featured a log flume, a rollercoaster and bumper cars. The park closed after its 2006 season because of breaches of its planning permission. The recent additions of a roller coaster and log flume were not approved by North Cornwall District Council. Since the parks closure it has been derelict with some parts of the site being demolished. The land has since been granted planning permission for a large Huf Haus development.

Meddon Moor is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Cornwall, England. The moor is located in the very north-eastern corner of Cornwall, on the border with Devon, within the civil parish of Morwenstow. The Devon village of Meddon lies 500 metres (1,600 ft) to the north-east of the moor. The Meddon Moor SSSI is noted for its biodiversity, and sits on the Carboniferous Culm Measures of North Cornwall. It contains the largest single area of remaining Culm grassland in Cornwall.

Bradworthy is a village and civil parish in Devon, England. The village is close to the site of the first wind turbines in Devon, erected in 2005. Bradworthy has the largest village square in England. The civil parish is bordered by the Devon parishes Hartland, Woolfardisworthy, West Putford, Sutcombe, Holsworthy Hamlets, and Pancrasweek and the Cornish civil parishes Kilkhampton and Morwenstow. Bradworthy village has a pub, a primary school, and an industrial estate. The parish church of St John the Baptist dates from the 13th century and is a grade II* listed building.Arthur Herbert Procter, a Victoria Cross recipient, was vicar of Bradworthy from 1963 to 1964.

Brocklands Adventure Park was a family run leisure park situated near Bude in Cornwall. The park was established in 1977 originally as a Tearoom and shop but quickly grew in the 1980s with the addition of a large car park and 15 in (381 mm) gauge railway with a diesel driven train. The expansion included ponds, slides and a pony ride track. In 1987 additions were made including bouncy castle, trampolines, bumper boats and quad bikes. The park became known as Pixieland Fun Park. In 1997 a steam train replaced the diesel train and in 2000 the name of the park was changed to Brocklands Adventure Park. The park itself was split into two parts with the main road dividing the rides to the south and the indoor activities, kids outdoor activities and cafe to the north of the road. The indoor multi-activity centre was known ‘Undercover Playland' and the rides era was known as ‘Upper Valley Adventureland'. There was also a 4 lane bowling alley known as 'Brock Bowl". The park closed after in 2007 season because the owners Sue and Dennis Vanstone retired. The diesel locomotive, known as 'Pioneer' was given to Sherwood Forest Railway and the steam locomotive was returned to the Exmoor Steam Railway before being sold to the Lappa Valley Railway in 2015. Another park in the area, Killarney Springs, closed the year prior.

Meddon Green is a 1.7 hectare (ha) Local Nature Reserve, located at Meddon, near Bideford in Devon. It consists of culm grassland surrounded by hazel coppice. The reserve is owned by Hartland Parish Council and was declared in 2007. The site contains many typical culm grassland plants including Southern Marsh Orchid and Greater Bird's-foot Trefoil. Volunteers have cleared much willow scrub from the site prior to getting the site fenced and grazed (planned for 2009).
