Thurdon

Upper Tamar lake is a reservoir on the border of Cornwall and Devon in south-west England. It is owned by South West Water and managed by the South West Lakes Trust. The reservoir serves the water supply in the Bude area of Cornwall and surrounding districts, including Clovelly, Bradworthy and Warbstow.To the south (downstream on the River Tamar) is the older Lower Tamar Lake. The county boundary follows the line of the river as it was prior to the construction of the reservoir, therefore now within the lake, resulting in it being in both Devon and Cornwall.

Lower Tamar Lake is located on the Devon-Cornwall border, in England, near Thurdon.It was constructed in the 1820s to supply water to the Bude Canal. It is now a nature reserve. It is also a popular fishing lake. The reservoir has been formed by damming the River Tamar. To the north (upstream) is the newer Upper Tamar Lake, a reservoir used for public water supply. The county boundary originally ran along the (natural) route of the River Tamar, but was re-aligned along a (now disused) re-routing of the river to the reservoir's west side, placing the lake in Devon.There are several short walks at the lake, such as the aqueduct trail. This is a path following the canal that reaches a small building showing the history of the lake. Another walk that can be taken is towards upper lake. this route is also popular for cyclists.

West Youlstone is a hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies seven miles north north west of Bude and north of Kilkhampton along the A39 road. It belongs to the parish of Morwenstow, and lies to the east of it. East Youlstone is immediately to the east but is in Devon.

Pancrasweek is a civil parish and hamlet in the far west of Devon, England forming part of the local government district of Torridge and lying about three miles north west of the town of Holsworthy.It is bordered clockwise from the north by the Devon parishes of Bradworthy, Holsworthy Hamlets, a small part of Pyworthy, and Bridgerule. The parish consists of small scattered settlements with a population of 217 in 2001, down from 277 in 1901. It is bounded to the west by the River Tamar (in its upper course) which for much of its length delineates Cornwall's border with Devon; a small part of the parish of Pancrasweek (including the farms/hamlets of Hudson and Dexbeer) however extends across the river onto the west side.The parish church, dedicated to Saint Pancras, stands alone on a hill in the south of the parish. Hoskins' Devon dates it to the 15th century with traces of Norman work in the walls of the nave, and says that its tower has fine crocketted pinnacles of the West Devon type. Pevsner states that the church was restored between 1894 and 1910 and that it has richly carved wagon roofs. At the hamlet of Lana about a mile north of the church is a Wesleyan chapel built in 1838, said by Pevsner to be the most attractive in Devon.Part of the Lower Tamar Lake lies within the parish. This artificial lake was constructed in the 1820s to supply water to the Bude Canal, but it is now a haven for wildlife and is popular for coarse fishing.

Kilkhampton (Cornish: Kylgh) is a village and civil parish in northeast Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is on the A39 about four miles (6 km) north-northeast of Bude. Kilkhampton was mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Chilchetone". The population of the parish was 1,193 in the 2001 census. This increased to 1,368 in the 2011 census The remains of a late Norman period motte-and-bailey castle known as Penstowe Castle are located 500 metres west of the village. Further west, at Stowe is the site of Stowe House, the grand mansion of John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath, built in 1680 but demolished in 1739: some of the stonework was reused at Penstowe, also in the parish.Kilkhampton has a post office, a primary school, and a community centre called the Grenville Rooms. There are three general stores, two pubs, and a selection of shops including an electrical goods store. There is also an MOT test station and an agricultural supply depot. The village was surveyed for the Survey of English Dialects. A crater on Mars has been named Kilkhampton.

Bradworthy has the largest village square in England. The civil parish is bordered by the Devon parishes Hartland, Woolfardisworthy, West Putford, Sutcombe, Holsworthy Hamlets, and Pancrasweek and the Cornish civil parishes Kilkhampton and Morwenstow. Bradworthy village has a pub, a primary school, and an industrial estate. The parish church of St John the Baptist dates from the 13th century and is a grade II* listed building.Arthur Herbert Procter, a Victoria Cross recipient, was vicar of Bradworthy from 1963 to 1964.

Launcells (Cornish: Lannseles) is a hamlet and civil parish in north-east Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Bude. Within the civil parish are the hamlets of Launcells Cross, Red Post, Grimscott, and Buttsbear Cross. In 2001, 563 people lived within the civil parish, decreasing to 531 at the 2011 census.
