St. Charles-Greenwood

A Symphony of Color (2008) is a mosaic by artist Donna Pinter of Roswell, Georgia. It is located in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, along Barnett Street north of Drewry Street.

The Bridge is a 1997 sculpture by Thornton Dial. It is located at John Lewis Plaza in Freedom Park in Atlanta, Georgia at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Avenue with Freedom Parkway in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood. The work portrays "congressman John Lewis' lifelong quest for civil and human rights" and the community's "valiant efforts to stop the road and preserve intown neighborhoods".

The Clermont Lounge is Atlanta's first and longest continually operating strip club, opened in 1965 and boasts a completely female ownership. Located in the basement of the Clermont Motor Hotel at 789 Ponce De Leon Avenue, in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood, the Clermont has survived multiple attempts at being closed by the Atlanta city government, and has established a nationwide reputation for its kitschy atmosphere and unusual dancers. The Clermont has been featured on an episode of Insomniac with Dave Attell. Celebrities known to have visited the Clermont when in Atlanta include Anthony Bourdain, Colin Firth, Marilyn Manson, Cole Sprouse, Ashton Kutcher, Kid Rock, Steven Yeun, Skinny Lister, Lady Gaga, Eric Roberts, Ming Chen, Jason Zimmerman and the Guys Weekend as well as David Cross and Bombay Bicycle Club. Visitors to the Clermont usually alternate between a few handfuls of regulars and large numbers of college students, newcomers to town, and tourists lured in by tales of the Clermont's myriad charms. The Clermont does not serve food or draft beer, nor does it accept credit cards (so take cash or use the ATM inside). The single dancer's stage is located in the middle of a circular bar, and the dancers choose (and pay for) their own songs on the in-house jukebox, as the club normally does not have an actual DJ. The Clermont is perhaps best known for featuring some dancers who do not meet the traditional physical standards for strippers, the most famous of whom is Blondie, noted for her ability to crush empty beer cans between her breasts as well as for her poetry.

Druid Hills Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The church was founded in 1883 in downtown Atlanta and moved to near the Druid Hills neighborhood in 1910. The current church building, designed by Francis Palmer Smith, was completed in 1940 and is located in the Virginia–Highland neighborhood.

Murder Kroger is the name by which the Kroger supermarket at 725 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Poncey-Highland, Atlanta has been known for decades. Despite ongoing development in the area, it has been described as a nickname "that just won't die".Kroger reopened a new store on October 16, 2019 at the same location, as part of the 725 Ponce development. Despite hopes from Kroger officials that the nickname "Murder Kroger" will not be applied to the new store, the name has already been adopted to refer to the new structure as well. A headline from 11 Alive called it a former nickname while a headline from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked "'Murder Kroger' no more?". Decaturish, meanwhile, stated that "locals have a name for [the store] that just won't die". Attempts to re-brand the location as "Beltline Kroger" proved unsuccessful, with the nickname instead being ascribed to another Kroger located several miles away, also on the Beltline. The store opened in the 1980s. The store's parking lot has been the scene of two fatal shootings and the discovery of a corpse. In 1991, a 25-year-old woman named Cynthia Prioleau was shot and killed. In 2002, the malodorous corpse of a man was found inside a car. In 2015, an Alabama man, Joshua R. Richey, was shot and killed. The 2015 murder occurred after the store had been renovated and promoted by the company as "Beltline Kroger". On January 15, 2016, Kroger announced that the location would be demolished to make way for 725 Ponce, a mixed-use development incorporating office space, a new Kroger store, and expanded parking. The original Kroger building was demolished shortly after it was closed in October 2016.

780 North Highland Avenue is a historic building in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. It is a contributing property to the Virginia-Highland Historic District, registered on the National Register of Historic Places. The NRHP designation, however, affords no prevention of either demolishing the building or altering its exterior—only designation as a local historic district does so.

The Colonnades are condominium buildings at 734–746 North Highland Avenue in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. They are a contributing property to the Virginia-Highland Historic District, registered on the National Register of Historic Places.The complex consists of two three-story buildings with 12 apartments each. The American Institute of Architects' guide to Atlanta architecture states that they are one of the best examples of garden apartment in Atlanta: Two structures perpendicular to North Highland Avenue, frame a hansomely landscaped courtyard with Mediterranean-style shrubbery. An Italianate flavor is further enhanced by the tiles of the boldly projecting decorative roofs and the stucco of the attic, pierced with smaller openings than the two floors below Furthermore, the AIA notes the complex's eponymous overscaled white columns which contrast prominently against the red brick background. It characterizes some elements as prescient of postmodern architecture, such as the broken pediments enhancing the raised doorways and the brick and terra-cotta frame of the square openings. In 1916, Lucian Lamar Knight inherited land near Ponce de Leon Avenue and St. Charles Ave. and subdivided it. On two adjacent lots he built the Colonnades at a cost of $75,000. Knight was a historian, prominent journalist and literary editor for the Atlanta Constitution, as well as founder and first director or the Georgia Archives.

The Briarcliff Hotel, now the Briarcliff Summit, is located at 1050 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE (original address: 750 Ponce de Leon Ave.) in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Asa G. Candler, Jr., the eccentric son of Coca-Cola magnate Asa Candler Sr., owned the real estate firm that built the Briarcliff in 1924. The Briarcliff is 9 stories tall in an "H" shape. It opened as "the 750", a luxury apartment building with 200 units. The architect was G. Lloyd Preacher, who also designed Atlanta's City Hall. After the 1929 stock market crash, it was converted to a commercial hotel, subdivided into 400 units in order to offer cheap rates. In the late 1940s Candler reconverted the hotel into luxury apartments, taking the top floor and making it into a penthouse suite for himself and his second wife, Florence. His inlaws, Edgar Chambers, Sr and Kate Mumford Chambers, parents of his daughter Laura's husband and owners of Parks Chambers, an upscale men's clothing store in Atlanta, lived in a large apartment on the 1st floor in the building known as "1050 Briarcliff" or more simpy as "1050". In the 1960s, after the death of prominent tenants, the building was deteriorating and was sold by Candler's heirs and again called the Briarcliff Hotel. The hotel was uniquely tied to gospel music. Hovie Lister and his Statesmen Quartet had offices at the Briarcliff. Statesmen business manager Don Butler and tenor Roland "Rosie" Rozell partnered to open the King & Prince Restaurant inside the hotel.The building is now known as the Briarcliff Summit Apartments, providing Section 8 housing for the elderly. Residents are now all elderly with federally subsidized rent.In January 2012, a deal was reached whereby Evergreen Partners Housing will buy the property in May 2012 and renovate the building, which according to the Patch newspaper as of January 2012 was "falling apart", in the months thereafter.

Ponce de Leon Park ( PONSS də LEE-ən; also known as Spiller Park or Spiller Field from 1924 to 1932, and "Poncey" to locals, was the primary home field for the minor league baseball team called the Atlanta Crackers for nearly six decades. The Crackers played here in the Southern Association (1907–1959) and the International League (1962–64). It was also home of the Atlanta Black Crackers who captured the second half championship of the Negro American League in 1938.The ballpark was located at 650 Ponce de Leon Avenue; the street ran along the south side of the park i.e. along its first base side. Behind right and center field, atop the slope bordering the park on the East, were the tracks of the Southern Railway, now part of the BeltLine, a trail and future transit ring around the central neighborhoods of Atlanta. Across the street was the Ponce de Leon Amusement Park until 1926, when the hulking Sears Roebuck Southeastern Headquarters, now known as Ponce City Market, was built.

The Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant at 699 Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia was the headquarters of the Ford Motor Company's southeastern US operations from 1915 to 1942. As a result of good sales in Atlanta, and a desire to decentralize production, Ford established a combined assembly, sales, service and administration facility on Ponce de Leon Avenue, selling a peak of 22,000 vehicles per year. The assembly plant produced Model Ts, Model As and V-8s until 1942, when the plant was sold to the War Department and a new plant was opened in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville. The 150,000 square feet (14,000 m2) building was designed by Ford's in-house architect, John Graham. An office block in the front was backed by a multi-story loft-style assembly plant.The War Department used the building as a storage depot and as administrative offices. Sold for development in 1979, the building is now known as Ford Factory Square or the Ford Factory Lofts and is occupied by apartments and retail shops. Architects for the adaptive reuse project were Bradfield Associates.The Kroger supermarket at the Ford Factory is inspiration for the meme Murder Kroger.

The Adair Mansion, originally named Wood Cliff (1895) is located in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia at 964 Rupley Drive, and is as of 2011 divided into upscale apartments. Green Buren Adair (c. 1837-1914, Atlanta), a wholesale commission and fertilizer tycoon, acquired the 16 acres (6.5 ha) of land in 1892 for $17,000. The land was in the country at the time, but easily accessed by the new Nine-Mile Circle streetcar line. The house was completed in 1895 and served as the family's summer house until 1911 when they moved in permanently.The Mediterranean-style house and grounds were nearly turned into a country club with tennis courts and a golf course. Instead, the grounds were turned into the Vineyard Park subdivision in 1911. This is an area of bungalow-style houses bounded by Adair Ave., Todd Rd., Virginia Ave., and N. Highland Ave.

The Plaza Theatre is a movie theatre located in Atlanta, Georgia. Opened in 1939, it is Atlanta's longest continuously operating independent movie theatre and a city landmark.
