North Capitol Hill, often referred to as Uptown, is a center city neighborhood near the Colorado State Capitol. The neighborhood has a diverse population, and is similar to surrounding neighborhoods of Five Points and Capitol Hill, in that it cannot be defined by a single demographic. Currently, downtown is undergoing significant redevelopment and gentrification, with many young residents and transplants populating the apartments and homes that frequent the area. North Capitol Hill had a violent crime rate of 13.74 incidents per 1,000 residents in 2014, one of the ten highest rates among Denver neighborhoods. The poverty rate is also much higher than city and national averages, with 34.74% of the population living in poverty. North Capitol Hill is bordered by 20th Ave on the north, Park Ave on the northeast, Downing St on the east, Colfax Ave on the south, and Broadway on the west.

The Saint Paul Lutheran and Roman Catholic Community of Faith, formerly known as St. Paul's English Evangelical Lutheran Church is a historic church at 1600 Grant Street in Denver, Colorado, United States. It was built in a Gothic Revival style and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It is currently home to a Reconciling in Christ community, with a mission to be an "open, affirming, and diverse community of faith representing two Christian traditions, that of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and that of the Ecumenical Catholic Church.The community previously referred to itself as a "Lutheran and Roman Catholic" community of faith. But the priest of the Catholic community was not recognized by the Roman Catholic Church; the Rocky Mountain Synod urged the parish to regularize the orders of the Catholic priest, who was eventually incardinated in the Ecumenical Catholic Church.

Central Presbyterian Church is a historic church located in downtown Denver, Colorado. Its building was built in 1891–92 and designed by Frank E. Edbrooke in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.The church was an offshoot of the First Presbyterian Church of Denver, which was organized in 1860. The Central Presbyterian Church congregation received its name in 1874.Its building was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1969. The building has been considered one of the three best buildings designed by Edbrooke, and was designed late in his career.It is described: "'The church is enormous, it is a nearly perfect square and is basically a four-tower type with crossing gables of equal height and length. The feeling of massiveness is derived from its great size and large windows and from the use of Colorado sandstone laid in horizontal bands like Richardson's later work. In the words of art historian Richard Brettell, the church is spare, simple and coloristically unified. The walls are sheer and relatively unadorned, rising with a thin and expansive grace. The thin stretched quality is almost exaggerated in the tower where there are long, thin lantern openings topped by ogee arches."

The University of Colorado (CU) is a system of public universities in Colorado consisting of four campuses: University of Colorado Boulder, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, University of Colorado Denver in downtown Denver and at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. It is governed by the elected, nine-member Board of Regents of the University of Colorado.

The Mosque of the El Jebel Shrine, which has also been known as the Rocky Mountain Consistory, and as the Scottish Rite Temple is a historic building in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood of downtown Denver. It was for a period known as Sherman Street Event CenterThe Moorish-inspired building was constructed in 1907, as a meeting hall for the El Jabel chapter of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (the Shriners). It has never been a true mosque in the Islamic sense. In 1924, having outgrown the building, the Shriners sold it to the Scottish Rite Masons, who renamed it. In 1995, the Scottish Rite sold the building to Eulipions, Inc. who converted it into a catering and events facility. It was known as the Scottish Rite Temple despite the fact that it never served as a Scottish Rite meeting hall.

The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Denver of the Roman Catholic Church. It is located at the corner of Logan Street and Colfax Avenue in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood of central Denver.

Denver Financial Center I is a high-rise office building located at 1775 Sherman Street in Denver, Colorado. Built in 1981 as the Mellon Financial Center, the tower has 32 floors. At 374 feet (114 m), it is currently the 23rd tallest building in Denver. USAA Real Estate purchased the building for $84 million in 2008. In October 2018, the building was sold for $95.25 million to Lincoln Property Company.

Wells Fargo Center is a skyscraper located in Denver, Colorado, United States. The building is also known by its former name One Norwest Center. It is known colloquially as the Cash Register Building for the way its uppermost floors curve together resembling the shape of an antique cash register. At 52 stories tall, it is 698 feet (213 m) high and the third tallest building in Denver. It is shorter than the Republic Plaza building at 714 feet (218 m), and 1801 California Street at 709 feet (216 m). The building was designed by architect Philip Johnson, under a master plan by I. M. Pei, and was completed in 1983. As it was originally designed to be for a downtown area in Texas, a heated roof is necessary to prevent snow from accumulating and sliding dangerously off the curved crown. Located at 1700 Lincoln Street, a skybridge over Lincoln Street connects the Wells Fargo Center to the older Mile High Center at 1700 Broadway; which houses a food court, Starbucks, a small museum featuring artifacts, and memorabilia from Wells Fargo history, and the Downtown Denver branch of Wells Fargo Bank. Both buildings have large atria constructed in the same cash register style. The building has its own unique zip code, 80274.Building owners Beacon Capital Partners undertook a three-year renovation of the lobby which was completed in 2016. As part of the renovation, experience design firm ESI Design created an 8-story digital art installation in the building's glass atrium and added new furniture and lighting. New York artist Enoc Perez (Puerto Rican, born 1967) was commissioned to create 14 paintings and 5 sculptures for the site.

The Father's Day Bank Massacre was a bank robbery and shooting that took place on Sunday, June 16, 1991, at the United Bank Tower (now the Wells Fargo Center) in Denver, Colorado. The perpetrator killed four unarmed bank guards and held up six tellers in the bank's cash vault. An estimated $200,000 was stolen from the bank. Nearly three weeks later, on July 4, 1991, authorities arrested retired police officer James W. King for the crime. The subsequent trial was broadcast nationally on Court TV. After days of deliberation, the jury acquitted King. None of the stolen money was ever found. The crime remains unsolved and is considered a cold case.

The Denver Formation is a geological formation that is present within the central part of the Denver Basin that underlies the Denver, Colorado, area. It ranges in age from latest Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) to early Paleocene, and includes sediments that were deposited before, during and after the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary event.The formation is known for its paleontological resources, including dinosaur remains that are found in the Late Cretaceous part of the formation, and it includes aquifers that are important sources of water for the area.

The Independence Institute (II) is a libertarian think tank based in Denver, Colorado. The group's stated mission "is to empower individuals and to educate citizens, legislators and opinion makers about public policies that enhance personal and economic freedom."

The Colorado State Library is the official State Library of Colorado located in Denver, Colorado. It manages the Colorado Talking Book Library (CTBL), the Colorado State Publications Library (CoSPL), Networking & Resource Sharing (NRS), Library Research Service (LRS) and provides library development opportunities for public and school libraries as well as institutional libraries. It also maintains an archive of information produced by the state government which has over 140,000 documents.
