Saidapet, also known as Saidai, is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India, situated in the northern banks of the Adyar River and serves as an entry point to Central Chennai. It is surrounded by West Mambalam in the North, C.I.T Nagar in the North-East, Nandanam in the East, Guindy in the South, Jafferkhanpet and Ashok Nagar in the North-West. The Saidapet Court, the only other court of judicature in Chennai city apart from the Madras High Court, and the Saidapet bus depot are located here. Prior to its incorporation in Madras city, Saidapet functioned as the administrative headquarters of Chingleput district. The neighbourhood is served by Saidapet railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Saidapet was occupied by the British East India Company and was made the administrative headquarters of Chingleput district. The health district in Chengalpet district is split into Saidapet hud and Kanchipuram hud. Panagal building which is a part of Saidapet is a famous landmark.

Saidapet is a constituency of the legislative assembly of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It covers the city of Saidapet in Chennai district and forms a part of Chennai South constituency for elections to the Parliament of India. Its State Assembly Constituency number is 23. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, in India.

China Bazaar Road, officially Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Road (or NSC Bose Road), is one of the main thoroughfares of the commercial centre of George Town in Chennai, India. The road connects Rajaji Salai in the east with Wall Tax Road in the west. Passing through thickly populated residential areas of the historical neighbourhood, the road has several streets, lanes, and by lanes joining it housing several commercial establishments of the city.

Saidapet railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Beach–Chengelpet section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhoods of Saidapet and Little Mount. It is situated about 12 km (7.5 mi) from Chennai Beach, and has an elevation of 10 m (33 ft) above sea level.

Chinnamalai, translated in English as Little Mount, is a small hillock that lies on the bank of Adayar River in the Saidapet taluk of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is traditionally acknowledged to be one of the places where St. Thomas, an apostle of Jesus, lived and preached when he came to India. In 1551 AD, Portuguese built a Church over the site where St. Thomas is believed to have lived in. Later, in the year 1970, a part of this old Church was demolished and a larger circular Church was built to accommodate more devotees. Little Mount now is a mixed-use residential and commercial area. The neighbourhood houses the IX Metropolitan Magistrates Court (Saidapet). Other Governmental offices located on the periphery of Little Mount include Raj Bhavan (the residence of the governor of Tamil Nadu), the headquarters of the state's Highways Department, and Panagal Maligai, which houses several government offices. Current developments in and around Little Mount include the New Life Assembly of God (NLAG) Church, Checkers Hotel, Lemon Tree Hotel, and the Temple Steps office complex. Little Mount is a stop on Line 1 of the Chennai Metro that runs between Washermanpet and the Airport.

The Institute of Advanced Study in Education, popularly known as Teachers' College is the oldest teacher training institute in India located in Saidapet, Chennai.

The Little Mount Shrine is a church located on a hillock in Chinnamalai, Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to St. Thomas and to Our Lady of Health. It is traditionally acknowledged to be one of the places where St. Thomas, an apostle of Jesus, lived and preached when he came to India. In 1551 AD, the Portuguese built a Church over the site where St. Thomas is believed to have lived in. Later, in the year 1970, a part of this old Church was demolished and a larger circular Church was built to accommodate more devotees. There is a cave on Little Mount where, according to tradition, St. Thomas lived for some time as a refuge from persecution. Two churches stand on the hill today. One is the old Portuguese-built church dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health, which was built in 1551. The cave is accessible through this church. The other is a newer church built in 1971 or 1972, replacing the older parish church.

King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is a medicine research institute located in Guindy, Chennai, India. It was established on 7 November 1899 with the aim of protecting against scourging infections and was named after Lt. Col. W. G. King, the then Sanitary Commissioner of the Madras Presidency.The institute is located on the banks of Adyar River. The main red building that houses the Director's office has been identified as a heritage structure and has been brought under Indian Archaeological Society. The institute functions under Director of Medical Education and Department of Health and Family Welfare (Tamil Nadu).It was one of the major institutions in India responsible for eradicating small pox by the production of vaccine. It is also one of the referral centers for bacterial and viral diseases in Tamil Nadu. Various wings at the institute include International Vaccination Centre, Board of Paramedical Education, and school of laboratory technology. Activities at the institute include quality control of schedule C and C1 drugs, manufacturing of anti–snake venom serum, diagnostic reagents (antigens and antisera), maintenance and supply of bacterial cultures, small animals, bacterial and virological diagnosis, and food sample testing.The International vaccination centre in King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is one of the World Health Organization authorized centres for issuing yellow fever vaccination and certificate.

SPIC building, Chennai, is one of the oldest skyscrapers of the city. Earlier, it was popularly known as "twin towers of Chennai." The main building has 10 floors and Annexe building has 8 floors. It houses the headquarters of Southern Petrochemical Industries Corp. Ltd., a joint venture between the MA Chidambaram Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corp. Ltd (TIDCO). It is one of the Asia's largest fertilizer factories located in southern part of India. The building is built facing Guindy railway station, on Anna Salai. The SPIC administrative building was built in 1977 and Annexe building in the year 1993. However, one of the two buildings still stand, the other being sold and partly demolished, underscoring the declining fortunes of the company.
