Okinawa Shogaku High School

Okinawa University (沖縄大学, Okinawa daigaku) is a private university in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The predecessor of the school was founded in 1961, and it was chartered as a university in 1974.

Okinawa Women's Junior College (沖縄女子短期大学, Okinawa Joshi Tanki Daigaku) is a private junior college in Yonabaru, Okinawa, Japan, established in 1966. Contrary to its name, the college has been accepting male students since 2003. This college relocated from Naha, Okinawa to current location in 2015.

Okinawa Prefectural College of Nursing (沖縄県立看護大学, Okinawa kenritsu kango daigaku) is a public university in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The predecessor of the school was founded in 1946, and it was chartered as a university in 1999.

Okinawa Prefectural Library (沖縄県立図書館, Okinawa Kenritsu Toshokan) opened in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan in 1910. Iha Fuyū was the first director. The library reopened in a new building in 1983. As of 2016, the collection numbers some 708,000 items, of which almost a fifth are on open access.

The Ryukyu Kingdom was a kingdom in the Ryukyu Islands from 1429 to 1879. It was ruled as a tributary state of imperial China by the Ryukyuan monarchy, who unified Okinawa Island to end the Sanzan period, and extended the kingdom to the Amami Islands and Sakishima Islands. The Ryukyu Kingdom played a central role in the maritime trade networks of medieval East Asia and Southeast Asia despite its small size. The Ryukyu Kingdom became a vassal state of the Satsuma Domain of Japan after the invasion of Ryukyu in 1609 but retained de jure independence until it was transformed into the Ryukyu Domain by the Empire of Japan in 1872. The Ryukyu Kingdom was formally annexed and dissolved by Japan in 1879 to form Okinawa Prefecture, and the Ryukyuan monarchy was integrated into the new Japanese nobility.

Lake Man (漫湖, Manko) is an area of wetlands in Okinawa that is located between the cities of Naha and Tomigusuku, and within Manko Park. Despite being called "Lake Man", it is in fact a wetland and not a lake. Lake Man covers .11 square kilometres (0.042 sq mi).Lake Man is close to Naha Port, located at the confluence of the lower reaches of the Kokuba River and the Noha River, to the south of Naha. Travelers from outside Okinawa Prefecture, en route from Naha Airport to the city Naha, cross this estuary, with the left side commanding a view of Lake Man. The Manko Waterbird & Wetland Center is located next to the wetland area and provides information and activities related to the area, as well as a boardwalk into the wetlands.The name Manko is pronounced the same as a crude Japanese word for female genitals, resulting in some controversy.

The gardens of Shikina-en (識名園) are located on a small hill to the south of Shuri Castle in Naha, Okinawa. The residence and its gardens are also known as Shichina-nu-Udun (シチナヌウドゥン) or Southern Gardens (南苑), as opposed to the Eastern Gardens (東苑) or Uchayaudun (御茶屋御殿), laid out on a small hill east of Shuri Castle in 1677. In 1992 Hiroshi Shō, the great-grandson of Shō Tai, the last king of the Ryūkyū Kingdom, donated the royal mausoleum of Tamaudun and Shikina-en to the City of Naha.

Asato Station (安里駅, Asato-eki) is one of the railway station on the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail) located in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

Tomigusuku Castle (豊見城城, Tomigusuku jō, Okinawan: Tumigushiku) is a Ryukyuan gusuku in Tomigusuku, Okinawa. It was built in about 1400 by Ououso, then King of Nanzan, and is now a ruined castle. The castle is not far off of Highway 58.

Makishi Station (牧志駅, Makishi-eki) is a railway station on the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail) located in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

The Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu (琉球王国のグスク及び関連遺産群, Ryūkyū ōkoku no gusuku oyobi kanren'isangun) is an UNESCO World Heritage Site which consists of nine sites all located in the Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The heritage sites include two utaki (or sacred sites, one a gate and the other a grove), the Tamaudun mausoleum, one garden, and five gusuku castles sites, four of which are ruins and one of which is a reconstruction. The sites were inscribed based on the criteria that they were a fine representation of the Ryūkyū Kingdom's culture, whose unique blend of Japanese and Chinese influence made it a crucial economic and cultural junction between several neighboring states.

Heiwa Dōri (平和通り, Peace Street) of Naha, is a shopping location and tourist attraction in Okinawa. The street features many gift shops selling wares that range from stone Shisa dogs, which are traditional statues placed on the roofs of many Okinawan homes as protection from evil, and tempura to colored glass and geta clogs.
