Piddinghoe

South Heighton is a village and civil parish in the Lewes District of East Sussex, England. The village is seven miles (12 km) south of Lewes. In the 1890s the village's population grew from less than 100 to over 500 after a cement manufacturing plant opened nearby. The village is now associated with the urbanised area of Newhaven. There is no place called North Heighton although part of the South Downs above the village is called Heighton Hill, from which one can get to Norton, which lies north-east of South Heighton, and north of Bishopstone. It is a regular thoroughfare and point of rest for ramblers, and features a series of ponds, known locally as 'The Three Lakes', which were until the early 1990s open to the public. It remains a popular destination for local visitors, with its public house, The Hampden Arms, and until recently, its corner-shop and post office, which has now closed and been converted into a residential dwelling. South Heighton is one of many villages in the area which maintains a bonfire society, celebration and parade. South Heighton is famous for its secret tunnels, built and used for defence during the Second World War, which lie underneath most of the village, with the main entrance at Denton House. In 1998, when work finished on the conversion of Denton House into flats and of the surrounding area into houses, the road was called Forward Close, after the ship associated with Newhaven and the secret tunnels, HMS Forward. Notable residents, past and present, include Ralph Reader, originator of the Scouting Gang Show and Ursula Mommens, the great-granddaughter of Charles Darwin and the great-great-granddaughter of the potter Josiah Wedgwood.

Southease railway station is located 0.5 miles (800 m) east of the village of Southease in East Sussex, England. It is on the Seaford branch of the East Coastway Line, 53 miles 40 chains (86.1 km) measured from London Bridge via Redhill. The station is surrounded by agricultural land. The South Downs Way crosses the Seaford Branch here.

The Newhaven ERF (Energy Recovery Facility) is an incinerator, in the town of Newhaven in the English county of East Sussex, for the treatment of up to 210,000 tonnes per annum of the county's municipal solid waste. The facility, built by Veolia Environmental Services, was approved by planners at the Conservative-controlled East Sussex County Council.The facility treats household waste that cannot be reused, composted or recycled and generates electricity from it. The electricity produced is sold to the National Grid and is enough to supply 25,000 homes.

Southease is a small village and civil parish in East Sussex, in South East England between the A26 road and the C7 road from Lewes to Newhaven. The village is to the west of the River Ouse, Sussex and has a church dedicated to Saint Peter. Southease railway station lies roughly a kilometre east over the river and may be reached via a swing bridge. The church has one of only three round towers in Sussex, all of which are located in the Ouse Valley and all three built in the first half of the 12th century. It is downstream of Lewes, the county town of East Sussex and upstream of Piddinghoe and Newhaven. Paths along both the banks of the river allow hiking in either direction along the river. The remains of a slipway on the west bank of the Ouse just north of the bridge faces Mount Caburn. The nearest village is Rodmell, about a kilometre to the northwest. The South Downs Way winds its way through the village towards the nearby River Ouse and the railway station. A new bridge has been built over the A26.Most cottages in the village date from the 17th century.

Tarring Neville is a village and civil parish in the Lewes District of East Sussex, England. The village is located five miles (8 km) south of Lewes, on the A26 road to Newhaven. The south west border of the parish runs along the River Ouse, the parish extending into the South Downs.

Peacehaven & Telscombe Football Club is a football club based in Peacehaven, East Sussex, England. The club is affiliated to the Sussex County Football Association. The club are currently members of the Southern Combination Premier Division and play at the Sports Park.

Seahaven Academy(formerly Tideway Comprehensive School) is a growing secondary school in Haven Way, Newhaven, East Sussex. The school's academic achievements improved considerably when the school joined the multi academy trust, United Learning Trust in 2014, and have been judged 'Good' by Ofsted. A new Headteacher is joining the school in April 2023, Shevlyn Byroo. This is an exciting time for the school, who benefit from considerable support from parents and the local community. The school continues to support the students, and parents, and works hard to offer the students a safe and positive learning environment.

UTC@harbourside was a University Technical College for students aged 14–18 (Key Stage 4 and 5) located in Newhaven, East Sussex, England which opened in September 2015. It specialised in science, technology, engineering and maths, leading to academic and vocational qualifications. The college closed in July 2019 due to financial issues and a lack of students.The University Sponsor was University of Brighton, which also sponsors academy schools in Sussex through its Academies Trust. The Employer Sponsor was Veolia. The other sponsors were Aldridge Education and Lewes District Council.Students came from Newhaven and across Sussex, including Brighton, Haywards Heath and Eastbourne. Employer partners played a key role in the curriculum of the UTC by setting real-life enterprise challenges. The UTC offered GCSE, A-Level and BTEC qualifications. Its Technical Skills Centre offered Level 1 and 2 Diplomas for 16–19 year olds, and its Technical Learning Centre offered Diploma courses in Electrical Installation and Plumbing studies for the same age group. Adult Education courses were also offered. The college's only Ofsted inspection was in 2018, with a judgement of Inadequate and a recommendation that the college be placed in Special Measures.

Asham Quarry is a 2.6-hectare (6.4-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Newhaven in East Sussex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site and in the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This site provides important biostratigraphical and lithostratigraphical evidence about environmental conditions during the last 100,000 years, the Last Glacial Period and the Holocene. It is notable for its extensive early and mid Holocene deposits and for having yielded a series of radiocarbon dates.

Newhaven Town railway station is the main station serving Newhaven, East Sussex, England, the other being Newhaven Harbour. A third station, Newhaven Marine, formally closed in October 2020, but had not had a train service since 2006. The station has two platforms, both with Permit to Travel Machines and trains are operated by Southern. It is on the Seaford Branch of the East Coastway Line, 56 miles 25 chains (90.6 km) measured from London Bridge.The station is adjacent to the passenger terminal for the Port of Newhaven which has regular ferry sailings to Dieppe in France. Foot passengers should alight here and not at Newhaven Harbour railway station, which is for the harbour industrial estate and freight terminal.

Denton is a small village in the civil parish of Newhaven, in the Lewes district, in the county of East Sussex, England. It adjoins the villages of South Heighton and Mount Pleasant and backs onto the South Downs.

Peacehaven Community School is a mixed secondary school for 11 to 16-year-olds in Peacehaven, East Sussex in the United Kingdom. The school was opened in 2001 following a 40-year campaign by the local community for a secondary school in Peacehaven.It is an Academy administered and governed by the Swale Academies Trust, a status it gained in September 2019. The current Head of School was Darren Warner-Swan with Liza Leung as Executive Headteacher on behalf of the Trust.Previously, it was a foundation school administered by East Sussex County Council and the Peacehaven Co-operative Learning Trust. With governance of the school being undertaken by an Interim Executive Board between 2013 until 2018.
