Oliver is a neighborhood in the Eastern district of Baltimore, Maryland. Its boundaries are the south side of North Avenue, the east side of Ensor Street, the west side of Broadway, and the north side of Biddle Street. This neighborhood, adjacent to Johns Hopkins Medical Campus and minutes from the Inner Harbor, lies east of the historic Greenmount Cemetery. The neighborhood is accessible by several bus lines, the Johns Hopkins metro station, Charm City Circulator, Pennsylvania Station (Baltimore), and freeway. In the past, Oliver has experienced economic depression, housing abandonment, and the after-effects of the Baltimore riot of 1968. In recent years, a steadily increasing number of diverse families and young professionals have returned to the Oliver community. In hand with long term homeowners, new homeowners are experiencing a transforming community. The neighborhood was a filming location for the Baltimore-based HBO drama The Wire, and was the home of the Baltimore chapter of the Black Panther Party. Neighborhood attractions include The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum.

The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum is a wax museum in Baltimore, Maryland featuring prominent African-American and other black historical figures. It was established in 1983, in a downtown storefront on Saratoga Street.The museum is currently located on 1601 East North Avenue in a renovated firehouse, a Victorian Mansion, and two former apartment dwellings that provide nearly 30,000 square feet (3,000 m2) of exhibit and office space. The exhibits feature over 100 wax figures and scenes, including: a full model slave ship exhibit which portrays the 400-year history of the Atlantic Slave Trade, an exhibit on the role of youth in making history, and a Maryland room highlighting the contributions to African American history by notable Marylanders. The museum's co-founder, Dr. Joanne Martin, describes the importance of preserving Black history in this way, stating: 'everything else, it seems like a movie if you don't have a sense of exactly what people were fighting against.'

Gay Street is a neighborhood in southeast Baltimore, Maryland.

The McDonogh Place Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It encompasses two sets of rowhouses, one on North Broadway and the other on McDonogh Place, between East Chase and East Eager Streets. They are three stories in height, built out of brick, and have Italianate styling. They were built between 1868 and 1872 by the McDonogh Place Company, and are the last surviving rowhouses (out of nine blocks in all) of that company. At the time of their construction, this stretch of Broadway was being developed as a fashionable residential area.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Gompers School, also known as Eastern High School and Samuel Gompers General Vocational School, is a historic high school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It was designed and built during a period from 1904 to 1906 as a public high school and remained as an educational facility until its closing in 1981. It is a flat-roofed building on four floor levels, roughly square in plan. The interior layout is characterized by a series of classrooms ringing an open court to allow maximum ventilation and light.Gompers School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Old East Baltimore Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is a mainly residential area of Baltimore City that grew up northward from the original mid-18th century settlement east of the Jones Falls, known as Jones Town, or Old Town. It comprises some 70 city blocks covering approximately 194 acres (0.79 km2). The southern part is characterized by vernacular Greek Revival-style working-class housing, constructed in the mid-1840s to mid-1850s for the large numbers of Irish and German immigrants settling there. By the late 1880s and early 1890s all of the blocks in the historic district had been filled with substantial rowhouses showing the influence of Queen Anne and Renaissance Revival styles. The churches in the district include good examples of Italianate, Gothic, Richardsonian Romanesque, Northern European Romanesque, and French Romanesque. Two ethnic Catholic churches, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and St. James the Less Roman Catholic Church, are listed separately on the National Register of Historic Places.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

St. James the Less Roman Catholic Church, also known as St. James and St. John's Roman Catholic Church, is a historic Roman Catholic church located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States and was one of the earliest neighborhood parishes established in the central city (1833). The building later became Urban Bible Fellowship Church. On March 29, 2020 lightning struck the steeple, causing the building to catch fire and partially collapse.

The Institute of Notre Dame was a private Catholic all-girls high school located in Baltimore, Maryland. After 173 years, the school closed on June 30, 2020.

Public School No. 109, also known as Male and Female Primary School No. 5 and Broadway School, was a historic elementary school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It was a two-story red brick utilitarian building featured a central tower capped by a pediment, two large chimneys with arched openings, and an entrance appendage on the south façade housing a stairwell. It was constructed in 1876 as an "open plan" school with classes separated by glass partitions. It was demolished in late 2003/early 2004 in order to make room for the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s new “Community Behavioral Health Center.”Public School No. 109 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Kennedy Krieger Institute () is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, Johns Hopkins affiliate located in Baltimore, Maryland, that provides in-patient and out-patient medical care, community services, and school-based programs for children and adolescents with learning disabilities, as well as disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and musculoskeletal system. The Institute provides services for children with developmental concerns mild to severe and is involved in research of various disorders, including new interventions and earlier diagnosis.

Baltimore East/South Clifton Park Historic District is a national historic district in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is primarily an urban residential area organized in a gridiron pattern. It comprises approximately 110 whole and partial blocks that formed the historic northeast corner of the City of Baltimore prior to 1888. While rowhouses dominate the urban area, the historic district also contains other property types which contribute to its character including brewing, meat packing, cigar manufacturing, printing, and a tobacco warehouse. The Baltimore Cemetery completes the historic district.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Johnston Square is a neighborhood in central Baltimore, Maryland located east of the Fallsway and west of the Oliver neighborhood, bordered by Greenmount Cemetery at the north and Eager Street at the south. The neighborhood is erroneously listed by a number of real estate websites as "Johnson Square." The sites also erroneously list the Western border of the neighborhood as Hunter Street. The area bordered by Hunter Street to the West and I-83 to the East is actually more closely associated with the Mt. Vernon and Belvedere neighborhoods, two areas with some of the city's highest incomes and lowest crime rates. The neighborhood contains Johnston Square Elementary School and two parks, Johnston Square Park and Ambrose Kennedy Park. It is one of five neighborhoods whose Urban Renewal Plans are included in the East Baltimore Revitalization Plan. The neighborhood contains portions of the Baltimore City Correctional Facilities and its residents are mostly low income African-American families. It has been used as a filming location on the HBO drama The Wire.
