The Sanger Harris department store building was the downtown store of the Sanger Harris department store chain (now part of Macy's). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is currently the El Centro College at Dallas College.

On July 7, 2016, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed a group of police officers in Dallas, Texas, shooting and killing five officers, and injuring nine others. Two civilians were also wounded. Johnson was an Army Reserve Afghan War veteran and was angry over police shootings of Black men. The shooting happened at the end of a protest against the police killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, which had occurred in the preceding days. Following the shooting, Johnson fled inside a building on the campus of El Centro College. Police followed him there, and a standoff ensued. In the early hours of July 8, police killed Johnson with a bomb attached to a remote control bomb disposal robot. It was the first time U.S. law enforcement used a robot to kill a suspect.The shooting was the deadliest incident for U.S. law enforcement since the September 11, 2001 attacks, surpassing two related March 2009 shootings in Oakland, California, and a November 2009 ambush shooting in Lakewood, Washington, which had each resulted in the death of four police officers and the shooting deaths of both suspects. It was the second-deadliest targeted attack of U.S. law enforcement officers in history; and the largest since the Young Brothers massacre of 1932 resulted in the deaths of six law enforcement officers in Missouri.

Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School (LECHS), formerly Middle College High School, is a public high school located at El Centro College in Downtown Dallas, Texas. It is a part of the Dallas Independent School District. It was established in 1988, and it was later renamed after Wright L. Lassiter Jr., who was the president of El Centro College when LECHS was first established.In 2014 it won the National Blue Ribbon Award.In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Dallas College El Centro Campus (El Centro or ECC) is a public community college in Dallas, Texas. It is part of Dallas College.The campus is located at 801 Main Street in downtown Dallas, in the former Sanger Harris department store building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Dallas College El Centro Campus became the flagship campus of Dallas College in 1966, when it first opened. Its Spanish name reflects the center of the downtown area and it is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and a member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). El Centro's location allows students from all parts of Dallas County to take advantage of core educational courses transferable to four-year institutions, as well as career training in more than 50 fields and a variety of continuing education and workforce education courses. Many of the degree plans offered at El Centro specialize in the medical and technological fields including nursing, Culinary | Pastry | Hospitality, and fashion design and marketing.

Belo Garden Park is a 1.7-acre (0.69 ha) public park located in downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. The park is located between Main and Commerce, east of Griffin in the Main Street District. The park, formerly a parking lot, features perennial gardens, shaded groves, plaza spaces, an interactive fountain, a 10’ high hill which provides topographical relief and views over the central fountain plaza, and a shaded garden grove with movable tables and chairs. In 2006 Belo Corporation (the owners of Dallas-area ABC affiliate WFAA and The Dallas Morning News) committed $6.5 million toward the $14.5 million construction of the park. It is one of several downtown parks planned by the City of Dallas, which include Main Street Garden Park and Pacific Plaza Park. Although scheduled for groundbreaking in 2008 the timeline was delayed due to the discovery of contaminated soil. Soil removal began in July 2010, and the park was re-scheduled to open in early 2012.Belo Garden's design has been the center of local controversy. A 12-foot wall separating the park from the adjacent Metropolitan Building was included for reasons including traffic protection and noise isolation. Professionals called this feature unneeded and anti-urban, but a resolution with Belo was not reached.

One Main Place is a mixed-use skyscraper hotel and office building at 1201 Main Street in Dallas, Texas. The building rises 445 feet (136 meters). It contains 33 above-ground floors, and was completed in 1968. One Main Place currently stands as the 27th-tallest building in the city. The architectural firm who designed the building was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who also designed the Willis Tower and John Hancock Center in Chicago and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Gordon Bunshaft was the lead designer of One Main Place and a few of his notable buildings include Lever House in New York, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. Originally conceived in the 1950s by the Dallas Texas Corporation to become Dallas's first Superblock, the building's 30,000 SF footprint occupies only a third of the 2.4 acre property, almost a full city block. To the east and west of the property, recessed plazas provided tenants with access to the exterior without the intrusion of automobiles. The 1.1 Million SF building includes five sub-surface levels tied to the Dallas Pedestrian Network and a 700-space parking garage. Excavation work on the project began in 1965 and construction was completed in 1968. Following completion, One Main was immediately sold to Equitable Life Insurance Company. Subsequent owners included RREEF and RAK Group. Today, New Orleans-based KFK Group owns the building known as "One Main". In 2015, a large portion of the building was converted to a hotel, The Westin Dallas Downtown. Opened in December 2015, the hotel has an entrance on the ground floor while the second floor of the building houses the hotel's public rooms, with the lobby in the former banking hall, as well as a restaurant and a bar. The third floor houses convention facilities. The top ten floors of the building have been converted to hotel rooms, leaving nineteen floors of offices. The 32nd floor houses a pool and the Westin Workout Studio overlooking Main Street.

CBD West Transfer Center is a bus-only station bounded by Lamar, San Jacinto, Griffin and Pacific, near West End Station in Dallas, Texas. It is one of two Downtown Dallas transfer centers owned by DART in the Central Business District. Most of the buses and light rails serve West End, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, El Centro College, Dallas World Aquarium, as well as the American Airlines Center. Unlike many transit centers, CBD West Transfer Center does not provide parking; however, it does provide an air conditioned/heated facility daily.

The Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse, named for former Dallas mayor Earle Cabell, is located in the Government District of downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. It houses the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, which exercises original jurisdiction over 100 counties in North and West Texas; United States Bankruptcy and Magistrate Courts; a United States Attorney office; an IRS office; passport offices; and other federal offices. Built in 1971, it shares a wall with the Art Deco-style Federal Building, previously known as the Santa Fe Building.

West End station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located in the West End Historic District of Downtown Dallas on Pacific Avenue, between Market and Lamar Streets near CBD West Transfer Center. It opened on June 14, 1996, and is a station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines, serving the West End Marketplace, Dallas Alley, the Dallas World Aquarium and Zoo, the Sixth Floor Museum (in the Texas School Book Depository), Dealey Plaza, the Old Red Courthouse with its Dallas Visitors Center and El Centro College and is within walking distance of the American Airlines Center and the rest of Victory Park. This is the westernmost stop on the four stop trunk segment shared by all four lines. West of here, approaching the TRE tracks, the Orange and Green Lines branch north and the Red and Blue Lines branch south. Following the shooting of Dallas police officers on July 7, 2016, the station was closed during the investigation of the nearby crime scene. Trains were stopping at all transit mall stations except West End, which they passed through during the incident. News outlets reported that ridership was lower than normal just after the attacks at nearby stations such as Akard, St. Paul, and Pearl/Arts District, typically busy stations during the morning rush hour.

Renaissance Tower is a 886 ft (270 m), 56-story modernist skyscraper at 1201 Elm Street in downtown Dallas, in the U.S. state of Texas. The tower is the second-tallest in the city, the fifth-tallest in Texas, and the 47-tallest in the United States. Renaissance Tower was designed by the architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, completed in 1974, and renovated by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in 1986. Major tenants include Neiman Marcus Group, Hilltop Securities and Godwin Lewis PC.

The West End Historic District of Dallas, Texas, is a historic district that includes a 67.5-acre (27.3 ha) area in northwest downtown (United States), generally north of Commerce, east of I-35E, west of Lamar and south of Woodall Rodgers Freeway. It is south of Victory Park, west of the Arts, City Center, and Main Street districts, and north of the Government and Reunion districts. A portion of the district is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as Westend Historic District. A smaller area is also a Dallas Landmark District. The far western part of the district belongs to the Dealey Plaza Historic District, a National Historic Landmark around structures and memorials associated with the Assassination of John F. Kennedy.
