United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas

The Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse, named for former Dallas mayor Earle Cabell, is located in the Government District of downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. It houses the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, which exercises original jurisdiction over 100 counties in North and West Texas; United States Bankruptcy and Magistrate Courts; a United States Attorney office; an IRS office; passport offices; and other federal offices. Built in 1971, it shares a wall with the Art Deco-style Federal Building, previously known as the Santa Fe Building.

Belo Garden Park is a 1.7-acre (0.69 ha) public park located in downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. The park is located between Main and Commerce, east of Griffin in the Main Street District. The park, formerly a parking lot, features perennial gardens, shaded groves, plaza spaces, an interactive fountain, a 10’ high hill which provides topographical relief and views over the central fountain plaza, and a shaded garden grove with movable tables and chairs. In 2006 Belo Corporation (the owners of Dallas-area ABC affiliate WFAA and The Dallas Morning News) committed $6.5 million toward the $14.5 million construction of the park. It is one of several downtown parks planned by the City of Dallas, which include Main Street Garden Park and Pacific Plaza Park. Although scheduled for groundbreaking in 2008 the timeline was delayed due to the discovery of contaminated soil. Soil removal began in July 2010, and the park was re-scheduled to open in early 2012.Belo Garden's design has been the center of local controversy. A 12-foot wall separating the park from the adjacent Metropolitan Building was included for reasons including traffic protection and noise isolation. Professionals called this feature unneeded and anti-urban, but a resolution with Belo was not reached.

The Dallas Art Institute (1926-1946) was the first art school to offer instruction in a variety of fields in the southern United States. It was founded in 1926 by artists Olin H. Travis and Kathryne Hail Travis and operated until it was closed by the Dallas Museum of Art trustees in 1946.

One Main Place is a mixed-use skyscraper hotel and office building at 1201 Main Street in Dallas, Texas. The building rises 445 feet (136 meters). It contains 33 above-ground floors, and was completed in 1968. One Main Place currently stands as the 27th-tallest building in the city. The architectural firm who designed the building was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who also designed the Willis Tower and John Hancock Center in Chicago and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Gordon Bunshaft was the lead designer of One Main Place and a few of his notable buildings include Lever House in New York, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. Originally conceived in the 1950s by the Dallas Texas Corporation to become Dallas's first Superblock, the building's 30,000 SF footprint occupies only a third of the 2.4 acre property, almost a full city block. To the east and west of the property, recessed plazas provided tenants with access to the exterior without the intrusion of automobiles. The 1.1 Million SF building includes five sub-surface levels tied to the Dallas Pedestrian Network and a 700-space parking garage. Excavation work on the project began in 1965 and construction was completed in 1968. Following completion, One Main was immediately sold to Equitable Life Insurance Company. Subsequent owners included RREEF and RAK Group. Today, New Orleans-based KFK Group owns the building known as "One Main". In 2015, a large portion of the building was converted to a hotel, The Westin Dallas Downtown. Opened in December 2015, the hotel has an entrance on the ground floor while the second floor of the building houses the hotel's public rooms, with the lobby in the former banking hall, as well as a restaurant and a bar. The third floor houses convention facilities. The top ten floors of the building have been converted to hotel rooms, leaving nineteen floors of offices. The 32nd floor houses a pool and the Westin Workout Studio overlooking Main Street.

The Southwestern Life Insurance Building was a 16-story, 110,000 sf high-rise in Downtown Dallas, Texas, designed by Lang & Witchell architects in the Sullivanesque style. It was built in 1912 and demolished 1972. Today it is the site of Pegasus Plaza, one of the first parks to open in the city's central business district.

The Dallas Downtown Historic District is a 90.8-acre (36.7 ha) area in downtown Dallas, Texas, United States that was designated a historic district in 2006 to preserve the diverse architectural history of the area.

Bank of America Plaza is a 72-story, 280.7 m (921 ft) late-modernist skyscraper located in the Main Street District in the city's downtown core in Dallas, Texas, United States. It is the tallest skyscraper in the city, the 3rd tallest in Texas and the 40th tallest in the United States. It contains 1,900,000 sq ft (180,000 m2) of office space. The building was designed by JPJ Architects and developed by Bramalea Limited of Brampton, Ontario. Canada. The original owner was a joint venture arrangement including Prudential Insurance, Bramalea Limited, and First National Bank of Dallas under parent company InterFirst Corporation. Construction commenced in 1983 and the tower was completed in 1985.

KLEG-CD, virtual channel 44 (UHF digital channel 28), is a low-power, Class A NewsNet-affiliated television station licensed to Dallas, Texas, United States. The station is owned by DV Broadcasting.

The Sanger Harris department store building was the downtown store of the Sanger Harris department store chain (now part of Macy's). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is currently the El Centro College at Dallas College.

On July 7, 2016, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed a group of police officers in Dallas, Texas, shooting and killing five officers, and injuring nine others. Two civilians were also wounded. Johnson was an Army Reserve Afghan War veteran and was angry over police shootings of Black men. The shooting happened at the end of a protest against the police killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, which had occurred in the preceding days. Following the shooting, Johnson fled inside a building on the campus of El Centro College. Police followed him there, and a standoff ensued. In the early hours of July 8, police killed Johnson with a bomb attached to a remote control bomb disposal robot. It was the first time U.S. law enforcement used a robot to kill a suspect.The shooting was the deadliest incident for U.S. law enforcement since the September 11, 2001 attacks, surpassing two related March 2009 shootings in Oakland, California, and a November 2009 ambush shooting in Lakewood, Washington, which had each resulted in the death of four police officers and the shooting deaths of both suspects. It was the second-deadliest targeted attack of U.S. law enforcement officers in history; and the largest since the Young Brothers massacre of 1932 resulted in the deaths of six law enforcement officers in Missouri.

Renaissance Tower is a 886 ft (270 m), 56-story modernist skyscraper at 1201 Elm Street in downtown Dallas, in the U.S. state of Texas. The tower is the second-tallest in the city, the fifth-tallest in Texas, and the 47-tallest in the United States. Renaissance Tower was designed by the architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, completed in 1974, and renovated by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in 1986. Major tenants include Neiman Marcus Group, Hilltop Securities and Godwin Lewis PC.

Pioneer Plaza is a large public park located in the Convention Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA). It contains a large sculpture and is a heavily visited tourist site. Adjacent to the plaza is the Pioneer Park Cemetery which features the Confederate War Memorial. Together, it is the largest public open space in the Dallas central business district.
