The Dubuque Intermodal Transportation Center (DITC) is a bus station located in Dubuque, Iowa. It serves as the new transfer center for Dubuque's bus system, between Jule buses and intercity buses serving Dubuque, and as a transfer point between other modes of land transportation. The center was intended to be the western terminal of the Black Hawk, a Chicago–Rockford–Dubuque Amtrak intercity rail route. The city of Dubuque received an $8 million FTA state of good repair grant in addition to grants from several area institutions to go towards phase 1 of the center's construction. Phase 2 was planned to be funded by a TIGER V grant. That grant application failed, but alternative funding came from several other sources. On April 10, 2014, a new proposal for Amtrak service to terminate in Rockford was announced following the inability of the state of Illinois to reach a deal with the Canadian National Railway for use of their tracks. Due to the new proposal, the train station component of the center was placed on hold until a deal could be reached with the CN. The city of Dubuque broke ground on the rest of the DITC project in May 2014. The center, except for the train station portion, opened on August 17, 2015.

Dubuque YMCA Building
Dubuque YMCA Building

Dubuque YMCA Building, also known as the Iowa Inn, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Several area churches partnered to form the local YMCA in 1857. It was one of the first chapters formed west of the Mississippi River. Its activities ceased during the American Civil War, and it was reformed in 1866. They rented rooms on Main Street for their activities. Its first modest gymnasium was outfitted in 1884, and it was improved in 1992 when YMCA took over the facilities over the former Dubuque Athletic Club. The local YMCA completed the first section of this facility two years later, with the second section completed in 1916. Often the local YMCA chapters copied or adapted one another's building designs, which gave their facilities an institutional character in form and style. The Romanesque Revival style was popular in Iowa in the 19th century, which is reflected in the 1894 section. In the early 20th century they generally employed the Neoclassical and Commercial styles, and the 1916 wing reflects the Commercial style. YMCA remained here until 1969, when they opened a new joint facility with the YWCA on Dodge Street. This building became the Iowa Inn, which rented rooms to low-income people. MetroPlains Development of St. Paul, Minnesota bought the building in 2000 and renovated it into an apartment building for senior citizens known as the Henry Stout Apartments. It was named for an early supporter of YMCA in Dubuque. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Dubuque Casket Company
Dubuque Casket Company

The Dubuque Casket Company is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. The city was a leading national market in the production of caskets towards the end of the 19th century. This location had been the site of a casket manufacturing plant from 1877 to 1987. The Dubuque Furniture and Burial Case Company was the first firm in Dubuque and the first to locate here. The building was largely destroyed by fire in 1883 and the company was forced out of business. The Dubuque Casket Company was incorporated in 1893 and acquired this property. They started construction of the first part of this building the same year. The four-story brick Neoclassical building was one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Dubuque. The machine and equipment room was located on the first floor, they manufactured fine cloth covered caskets on the second floor, they manufactured undertaker's dry goods on the third floor, and the fourth floor was used for storage. The first addition, now known as the center section was begun in 1903, and another expansion that also unified the main facade was begun in 1911. Two other Dubuque casket manufacturers, Iowa Coffin Company and the Hawkeye Casket Company, were out of business by 1924. Dubuque Casket Company remained in business until 1988. That year the building was sold to Boyes Auto and Truck Parts Co. They sold the building in 2005 to Community Housing Initiatives, Inc., who converted it into an apartment building. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006, and it was included as a contributing property in the Washington Residential Historic District in 2015.
