Felhampton

Upper Affcot is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located on the A49 north of Craven Arms and south of Church Stretton, between the hamlets of Strefford and Felhampton. There is a public house here, formerly called the Travellers Rest, now the Affcot Lodge. It is part of the civil parish of Wistanstow.

Bushmoor is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located in the parish of Wistanstow, 1¼ miles north of that village, and half a mile west of the A49 road. The lane running into the village from Wistanstow is a Roman road, which ran between the Roman settlements and forts at Leintwardine and Wroxeter. The present day lane turns a sharp corner (to the east and the A49) off this ancient route and this is known as The Corner.

Strefford is a historic hamlet in Shropshire, England. It lies in the civil parish of Wistanstow and is situated just off the A49 road 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the small town of Craven Arms. The nearest settlement is Upper Affcot, to the north on the A49, a hamlet which has a public house. Strefford is at an elevation of between 130 metres (430 ft) and 135m, and just to the east is Strefford Wood which is at the southern end of Wenlock Edge; the bridleway that runs along the Edge ends just outside the hamlet.Strefford was recorded in the Domesday Book as 'Straford' and in 1255 as 'Streford'. The name derives from its situation between the Roman road (a "Street") at Wistanstow (to the west) and the ford immediately to the east of the hamlet, which crosses the Byne or Quinny Brook. The Byne and Quinny Brooks meet just prior to the ford and only a mile after flow into the River Onny.There is a farm shop and bed and breakfast at Strefford Hall. Strefford Conservation Area covers all the settlement, including the ford. There are five Listed buildings in the hamlet: Ford Cottage, Malt Cottage, The Cottage, the (disused) parish pumphouse, and Strefford Cottages; in addition there is a Listed milestone on the A49 road at Strefford. The village lies within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designation.

Wistanstow is a village and parish in Shropshire, England. Wistanstow is located about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Church Stretton and 8+1⁄2 miles (13.7 km) north of Ludlow. It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Craven Arms. It is just off the main Shrewsbury-Hereford road, the A49. The large parish, of 5,231 acres (8.2 sq mi; 2,100 ha), includes a number of other small settlements: Woolston, Upper Affcot, Cwm Head, Bushmoor, Strefford, Whittingslow, Felhampton and Cheney Longville, and a population of 724 was recorded in the 2001 census, increasing to 812 at the 2011 Census.The River Onny flows through the parish, southwest of the village, also Leamoor Common and Wettles are to the north of the village.

Wistanstow Halt railway station was a station in Wistanstow, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1934 and closed in 1956.

Quinny Brook is a tributary stream of the River Onny which flows through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England.

Woolston, in the south of the county of Shropshire, England, is a hamlet located in the parish of Wistanstow, one mile northwest of that village, near Craven Arms (in the Church Stretton and Craven Arms county electoral division of Shropshire unitary authority, previously part of the district of South Shropshire until its abolition in 2009). In the mediaeval period the name was variously spelt Wolfreston, Wolureston and Wylfriston; the Domesday Book survey recorded that in 1066 it had been held by Spirtes the priest along with Wistanstow.

Flounders' Folly is a tower, built in 1838, on Callow Hill, near Craven Arms at the western end of Wenlock Edge in Shropshire, England. The tower is approximately 80 feet (24 m) tall and 16 feet (4.9 m) square and is clearly visible (on the skyline) from the Cardiff–Crewe railway line, just north of Craven Arms and also from the busy A49 Shrewsbury to Hereford road. Many walks ascend the hill from various points and it is mentioned in many walking guides to Shropshire.

Callow Hill is a hill near the village of Lower Dinchope between Craven Arms and Ludlow in the English county of Shropshire. Its summit marks the highest point along the 31 kilometre length of Wenlock Edge. On the skyline is a square tower known as Flounders' Folly.

Stretford Bridge Junction Halt railway station was a station in Cheney Longville, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in May 1890 and closed on 20 April 1935.

Halford is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Craven Arms, in the Shropshire district, in south Shropshire, England. It lies just east of the market town of Craven Arms, on the other side of the River Onny. In 1961 the parish had a population of 167.The grade II listed church of St Thomas at Halford is the Anglican parish church of Craven Arms.

Craven Arms railway station serves the town of Craven Arms in Shropshire, England. Until 1974 it was known as "Craven Arms and Stokesay", named after the nearby coaching inn (the town having not come into being prior to the arrival of the railways) and the historic settlement of Stokesay to the south. It is situated at the junction of the Welsh Marches Line and the Heart of Wales Line, 20 miles (32 km) south of Shrewsbury. All passenger trains calling at the station are operated by Transport for Wales, who also manage it. The station has two platforms, connected by a footbridge. Platform 1, on the west side, serves northbound trains to Shrewsbury and beyond as well as trains from Swansea via the Heart of Wales Line. Platform 2, on the town side of the station, serves southbound trains to Hereford and Cardiff and also southbound HoW services since signalling and track alterations in October 2018. Prior to these changes, southbound trains to Llanelli and beyond used platform 1 in both directions (the crossover giving access to the branch being sited to the north near Long Lane crossing - this has now been relocated to the south end of the station). Between 1865 and 1935, Craven Arms was the junction terminus of the Bishops Castle Railway. There was also a junction serving the line that went to Wellington via Much Wenlock. Adjacent to the station once stood the now demolished carriage sheds. There continues to be a signal box at Craven Arms, to the north of the station by the level crossing.
