Barrow Gravel Pits is a 35.6 hectares (88 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Barrow upon Soar in Leicestershire.This site in the flood plain of the River Soar has open water in the former gravel pits, marshes, hay meadows, woodland and scrub. Aquatic plants include yellow water lily, rigid hornwort, lesser pondweed and fan-leaved water crowfoot.There is access through a caravan park from Bridge Street.

Flesh Hovel Lane is a road in Quorn, Leicestershire, England. Its name originates from the time of the Quorn Hunt, where horses that were no longer fit for purpose were taken to slaughter and hung at the abattoir situated on Flesh Hovel Lane. The remains of the horses were then used to feed the dogs of the hunt.

Quorn () is a village and civil parish in Leicestershire, England, near the university town of Loughborough. Its name was shortened from Quorndon in 1889, to avoid postal difficulties owing to its similarity to the name of another village, Quarndon, in neighbouring Derbyshire.

It was established under the Local Government Act 1894 as a successor to the Barrow Rural Sanitary District, and therefore was also based on the Barrow Poor Law Union. It covered Barrow upon Soar and the surrounding area. It was increased by the disbanding of Loughborough Rural District in 1936, and also by the abolition of Quorndon urban district around then. It was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 and now forms part of the Charnwood district.
