Radio Hafren

The A489, officially known as the Newtown to Machynlleth Trunk Road in Wales, is a trunk road in the United Kingdom running from Craven Arms, Shropshire to Machynlleth, Powys and crossing the Wales-England border. The road starts about one mile north of Craven Arms. From here it travels through Lydham, Churchstoke, Newtown, Caersws, Cemmaes Road and Machynlleth. Between Caersws and Cemmaes Road, the road appears to 'disappear', where it is travelling with the A470, which takes priority. The same happens in Lydham, albeit for a much shorter distance, where the A488 takes priority. A new section of road, the Newtown Bypass, was completed in 2019.

Penarth is a timber-framed house set back from the A483 road near to Newtown, Wales, close to the banks of the river Severn. It is within the parish of Llanllwchaiarn, within the historic county of Montgomeryshire, which now forms part of Powys. It is amongst the best examples of the ‘‘Severn Valley’’ timber-framed houses. The Penarth vineyard stands within the grounds of the house.

St Llwchaiarn's church, Llanllwchaiarn was the parish church of Llanllwchaiarn, now within the community of Newtown with Llanllwchaiarn and lies within the historic county of Montgomeryshire in Powys. The church occupies a position on rising ground overlooking the river Severn and is to the north east of Newtown. The present church was rebuilt in 1816. In 2011 the medieval carved screen, originally from St Mary's church in Newtown, was re-positioned in Llanllwchaiarn church

The Brimmon Oak is a veteran tree in Newtown, Powys, Wales. A pedunculate oak (sometimes called "English oak"), it is thought to be around 500 years old and has been on land farmed by the same family since the 1600s. The tree was scheduled to be felled as part of the construction of the A483 Newtown Bypass in 2015 but was saved as the result of a petition. The tree was named both Welsh and British Tree of the Year for 2016 and was runner up in the European Tree of the Year awards of 2017.

Aberbechan was formerly a township in the parish of Llanllwchaearn in the historic county of Montgomeryshire. The township of Aberbechan was transferred to Bettws Cedewain and more recently moved, together with the township of Dolforwyn, into the community of Abermule and Llandyssil in Powys, Wales. There is a chapel The former township is also the home of Aberbechan Hall.

Kerry Football Club is a Welsh football team based in the village of Kerry, Powys, Wales. They play in the Central Wales Northern Division, which is in the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system, having also played previously at tier 3 in the Ardal Leagues.

Aberbechan Hall was a timber framed mansion in the township of Aberbechan within the parish of Llanllwchaearn in the historic county of Montgomeryshire. The township of Aberbechan was transferred to Bettws Cedewain and more recently moved, with the township of Dolforwyn, into the community of Abermule with Llandyssil. The Hall was originally built by the Blayney family, passing to the Price and Lloyd families, before becoming the property of Sir Gervais Clifton. In 1810 it was sold to David Pugh of Llanerchydol near Welshpool. The Hall was demolished in 1870 and replaced by the present Hall.

The Kerry Tramway was a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway built in 1887 to serve the timber workings and slab quarry to the south of the village of Kerry, near Newtown in mid Wales.

Kerry (Welsh: Ceri) is a village and geographically large community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales. The village lies on the A489 road 2.8 miles (4.5 km) southeast of Newtown and possesses two pubs — the Herbert Arms and the Kerry Lamb — a village hall, a bowling green, a post office, a primary school and a hairdresser. Kerry also has a parish church of Norman origins dedicated to St. Michael and All Angels, as well as a baptist church. It gives its name to the Kerry Hill breed of sheep.

St Michael's Church is the parish church of Kerry, in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, now Powys. Kerry is sited about 3 miles to the S E of Newtown. which suggests that there may have been a church on the site since the 7th century. The church stands in an almost oval churchyard in the centre of the village. It was rebuilt and re-dedicated in 1176. Of the original church only the north aisle arcade survives, and the chancel arcade is 14th-century in date. The square stone tower is surmounted by a Montgomeryshire style timber-framed belfry. The main body of the church was rebuilt in 1882–83 by the architect George Edmund Street, paid for by James Walton of Dolforgan Hall.

The Cambrian Mills was a complex of woollen mill buildings in Newtown, Powys, Wales, that operated from 1856 to 1912, when they were destroyed by fire. At one time the mill complex was the largest woollen daddy in Wales. The mills owed their success to the pioneering mail order business of the local Newtown draper Pryce Pryce-Jones. In the longer term they were unable to compete with woollen mills in northern England due to the cost of importing coal to power the machinery and the lack of rail links to their natural market in the south of Wales.
