Yakima Hill is a neighborhood in the North End of Tacoma, Washington. Commonly confused with the adjacent North Slope, Yakima Hill is a distinct area. Generally, the area is defined as bordering North I Street to the south-southwest and Tacoma Avenue to the north-northeast, with another portion extending from Tacoma Avenue to the south, North Borough Road to the west, North Stadium Way to the north and northeast, and North 3rd Street to the east. Primarily residential, Yakima Hill is at a slope and is so named because North Yakima Avenue passes through it. The area is quiet, and fairly wealthy, with a private tennis club and the Annie Wright School.

The William Ross Rust House is a house in Tacoma, Washington, United States, built in 1905 for William Ross Rust, then President of the Tacoma Smelter and Refining Company. The house was designed by Ambrose J. Russell, who worked for Russell & Babcock with Everett Phipps Babcock, and was built by Charles Miller. Russell & Babcock also designed the Washington Governor's Mansion. It was built of sandstone from the Wilkeson sandstone quarry in Wilkeson, Washington. The building has a green, glazed terra cotta tile roof, 18 rooms, 4 baths, and 8 fireplaces. It was modeled after the John A. McCall Mansion in Monmouth County, New Jersey (built in 1903, destroyed by fire in 1927). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 23, 1985.

The Stadium District is a neighborhood of the north end of Tacoma, Washington, USA. It is named after Stadium High School, a historic landmark. The district is located between the North Slope residential neighborhood and the Stadium Business District and the Hilltop neighborhood further to the south. The area shares more in common with Tacoma's downtown owing to its urban nature and large population of apartment-dwelling working class residents. The area consists primarily of single family homes, apartment & condominium buildings, some with views of Commencement Bay.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is a historic church on Starr between 29th and 30th Streets in the Old Tacoma neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington, United States. It was built in 1873 and added to the National Register in 1974. Old St. Peter's Church was the first church built in Tacoma and is now Tacoma's oldest existing building. The first services were held on Aug. 10, 1873.St. Peter's bell tower is unique. The bell was a gift from the Sunday school children at St. Peter's Church in Philadelphia. It arrived in October 1874, but the church in Tacoma had no belfry. Loggers cut off the top of a tree growing next to the church and a crew of sailors used the ship's rigging to hoist it up on the stump. The rings of the tree were counted when the tree was cut, revealing that it was over 300 years old. The tree claimed fame as "the oldest bell tower in America". The original tree stump was damaged by a windstorm in 1935 and had to be replaced.

Old Tacoma is a neighborhood of the north end of Tacoma, Washington, more commonly known as Old Town.

The North 21st Street Bridge in Tacoma, Washington was built in 1910. It was designed by engineers Waddell & Harrington and is a continuous concrete rigid-frame girder bridge. It is significant as one of the very earliest examples of its type. It was built "almost simultaneously" with the 950-foot (290 m) Asylum Avenue Aqueduct in Knoxville, Tennessee, which was documented by Carl W. Condit to be the first continuous concrete girder bridge to be built.: 1–2 It has three 60 feet (18 m) reinforced concrete spans with four continuous girders. Its spans are supported by reinforced concrete columns and abutments. The bridge has "massive and over-designed" slabs (9 feet (2.7 m) deep) and beams from 4 to 7 feet (1.2 to 2.1 m) wide, from 9 to 11 feet (2.7 to 3.4 m) deep. It is 48 feet (15 m) wide to accommodate trolley tracks in the middle.The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Prospect Hill is a neighborhood of the north end neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington. Although Prospect Hill is considered to be the official planning name of the area, it has also gone by many other names. Locals commonly refer to it as Little Germany because of its narrow roads; it vaguely resembles a residential neighborhood that could be found somewhere in Europe. Prospect Hill is a small neighborhood with large, expensive houses. The area borders on Yakama Gulch to the west, overlooks Commencement Bay to the north, and has sweeping views of Old Tacoma to the east. The few houses with views of the waterfront - mostly located on North and Orchard Roads - are some of the most expensive properties in the city and often sell for well over $1 million as of April 2006.

First Church of Christ, Scientist is a historic Christian Science church building located at 902 Division Avenue at the corner of I (Eye) Street in Tacoma, Washington. Designed in the Classical Revival style by noted as well as prolific Tacoma architect Frederick Heath, it was built at a cost of $45,000 between 1908 and 1911. It was the second building built by the congregation on this site, the first being a 1901 wooden structure seating 300 that was torn down in 1908. On June 2, 1911, the first service was held in the new church. After becoming debt free, the new church was dedicated in 1921.

The Stadium Bowl (originally Tacoma Stadium) is a 15,000-seat stadium in the Stadium District of Tacoma, Washington, United States. It is adjacent to Stadium High School with views of Commencement Bay and Puget Sound from its open north end. The stadium was designed by Frederick Heath and opened in 1910, primarily for use by the then-renamed Stadium High School and later Silas High School. The Stadium Bowl is designed for American football as well as track and field events. It has also hosted baseball and other sports in the past. The stadium originally seated 23,000, but was later reduced in capacity during renovations and restoration projects.

City of Kingston was a steamship launched in 1884. It was built in Wilmington, Delaware. It was used on the Hudson River before a change of ownership brought it to Puget Sound. The New York Times reported in December 1889 that it was heard from in "Barbadoes" after being feared lost.Its sister ship was City of Seattle, built in Philadelphia in 1890.City of Kingston collided with Glenogle on April 23, 1900 near Tacoma, Washington and sunk. The loss was calculated to be $150,000. There were no deaths. Glenogle survived with $20,000 in damage.

MultiCare Health System's Tacoma General Hospital is the largest hospital in Tacoma, Washington. It is a level II trauma center with 437 beds and the second-largest obstetrical care center in the state of Washington. Tacoma General began serving patients in 1882. The hospital is owned and operated by MultiCare Health System, a Tacoma-based not-for-profit integrated health organization.

"Annie" and "Fannie" are a pair of statues in Tacoma, Washington's Wright Park, in the United States. Sometimes collectively referred to as the "Dancing Girls" and "Greek Maidens", the sculptures flank the park's entrance at Division Avenue. Depicting dancing Greek maidens, the similar artworks were cast in a sandstone and concrete composite. Both were purchased and donated by local businessman Clinton P. Ferry in Europe in 1891, during the park's development. Their nicknames refer to Charles Wright's daughter and the park's proximity to Annie Wright Seminary, as well as the Fannie Paddock Hospital. Also known as "Violet" and "Pansy" during the 1930s, the sculptures were restored and erected on marble bases in 2009.Both are based on original artworks by Italian artist Antonio Canova. One statue, officially Dancing Girl with Hand on Chin, is based on Dancing Girl with Her Finger on Her Chin (1806–10), now installed in Rome's Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica. According to Metro Parks Tacoma, "Early pictures show that the Ferry version of the statue did indeed have her hand on her chin when the statues were first installed in 1892, but sometime in the mid-20th century the statue was broken and restored with her hand across her waist instead." The other statue, officially Dancing Girl with Hands on Hips, is based on Dancing Girl with Her Hands on Her Hips (1806–10), now installed in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
