CFGX-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 99.9 FM in Sarnia, Ontario. The station broadcasts an adult contemporary format with the brand name The Fox. Its main competitors are WGRT and WBTI. CFGX-FM can be heard in the eastern parts of Michigan as far west as Lapeer and well into the Thumb region, and used to have a listenable signal in much of Macomb County before Detroit's WCHB (now WMUZ) signed on an FM translator at 99.9 (which now relays WDMK-HD2). The station can be heard as far east as Strathroy (farther east, co-channel CHJX-FM in London interferes) and Chatham to the south. The station was launched with the callsign CJFI on September 14, 1981 by Rogers Communications, the owner of the city's existing CKJD. CJFI featured easy listening music with some simulcasting of Top 40-formatted CKJD overnights. The station adopted its current call sign and format on February 26, 1988. CKJD and CJFI were sold to Maclean-Hunter subsidiary Blue Water Broadcasting on July 16, 1987. When Rogers acquired Maclean-Hunter on December 19, 1994, the Blue Water stations were spun off to Blackburn Radio. In July 2008, the station applied to increase power. That application was approved on September 3, 2008.

Sarnia Regional Cogeneration Plant is a natural gas power station owned by TransAlta Energy, in Sarnia, Ontario. The plant is primarily used to supply steam to Arlanxeo, Styrolution, Suncor and Nova Chemicals and power onto the Ontario Grid.

Corunna is an unincorporated community in St. Clair Township, Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. The site of the community was surveyed by William Beresford in 1823. The community is located approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) south of Sarnia. The community experienced a significant population boom between the 1830s and 1850s, mainly attributed to Scotch-Irish immigration. The community serves as the location of Chemical Valley, a major petrochemical and plastics manufacturing facility.

Sarnia station (also Sarnia Tunnel Station) is a Via Rail train station in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. It is the western terminus for Via Rail trains running from Toronto through southwestern Ontario. The unstaffed station is wheelchair accessible. The station includes vending machines, washrooms, a pay phone, and a medium-sized waiting area. Train 84 leaves daily from Sarnia at 08:40, and returns as train 87 at 22:20.The International Limited was operated jointly by Via Rail and Amtrak between Chicago and Toronto. The service, which had ended in 1971 by CN Rail, was restarted in 1982 and discontinued again in 2004 due to border delays and post-9/11.Sarnia Transit Route 1 Confederation will service the railway station on request and the connection to Amtrak Blue Water route can be made from cross border taxis between Sarnia and Port Huron. The Gothic Revival station was built in 1891 by the Grand Trunk Railway (and designed by engineer Joseph Hobson) and later acquired by VIA Rail through CN Rail.

The St. Clair Tunnel is the name for two separate rail tunnels which were built under the St. Clair River between Sarnia, Ontario and Port Huron, Michigan. The original, opened in 1891 and used until it was replaced by a new larger tunnel in 1995, was the first full-size subaqueous tunnel built in North America. (By full-size it is meant that it allowed a railroad to run through it.) It is a National Historic Landmark of the United States, and has been designated a civil engineering landmark by both US and Canadian engineering bodies.

Stag Island is a private Canadian island located in the St. Clair River between Corunna, Ontario and Marysville, Michigan. The island currently houses over 100 cottages owned by both American and Canadian citizens. A ferry service is run from Corunna to the island by the Stag Island Auxiliary Club.

USCGC Bramble (WLB-392) is one of the 39 original 180-foot (55 m) seagoing buoy tenders built between 1942 and 1944 for the United States Coast Guard. In commission from 1944 until 2003 she saw service in Pacific, Caribbean and Atlantic waters as well as the Great Lakes. In 1947 Bramble was present at the Nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll and in 1957 a circumnavigation of North America involved a forced traverse of the Northwest Passage. After decommissioning in 2003 Bramble became a museum ship in Port Huron, Michigan. In 2018 she was sold to a private owner, who is preparing MV Bramble to repeat her historic 1957 circumnavigation of North America.

The Marysville Power Plant, nicknamed the Mighty Marysville, was a coal-fired power plant in Marysville, Michigan on the shore of the St. Clair River. The plant was demolished on November 7, 2015, after the land was sold to a developer.

Sarnia Photovoltaic Power Plant near Sarnia, Ontario, is Canada's largest photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 97 MWP (80 MWAC).In 2009, Ontario introduced a feed-in tariff renewable energy payments program paying up to CDN 44.3 cents per kW·h for large ground arrays such as the Sarnia plant. This makes Ontario's one of the top feed in tariff programs in the world. Phase I (for 20 MW) was completed in December 2009. Phase II (60 MW) was completed in September 2010 at a cost of C$300 million. The project was developed by Enbridge.First Solar developed, engineered, and constructed the facility, and it will operate the Sarnia Solar Project for Enbridge under a long-term contract. Enbridge will sell the power output of the facility to the Ontario Power Authority pursuant to 20-year power purchase agreements under the terms of the Ontario government's Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program. The plant covers 450 hectares (1,100 acres) and contains about 257 ha (635 acres) of modules, which is about 1.3 million thin-film panels. At the completion of Phase II it was the largest solar power station in the world, a title it held until the 2011 opening of Huanghe Hydropower Golmud Solar Park in China. The expected annual energy yield is about 120,000 MW·h, which if produced in a coal-fired plant, would require emission of 39,000 tonnes of CO2.

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, 1953, a violent F4 tornado struck the cities of Port Huron, Michigan, United States and Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. The long-tracked, over mile-wide tornado destroyed large sections of the downtown areas of both cities, as well scores of neighborhoods in the surrounding areas. Seven people were killed, 117 others were injured, and damages were estimated $17.6 million (1953 USD). The tornado was the last of a two-day severe weather outbreak that also produced two intense tornadoes in Iowa the day before.

The Pat Stapleton Arena is a 2,302 capacity arena in Sarnia, Ontario that is home to the Sarnia Legionnaires, one of the most successful teams in Canadian junior ice hockey history. Located at the corner of Wellington and Brock Streets, it is the largest arena owned by the city of Sarnia.It was built in 1948 and is currently home to the Legionnaires of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, as well as minor hockey teams and minor hockey tournaments.The Legionnaires have won six championships and launched the careers of nine NHL players, including Hall of Famer Phil Esposito. Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley credits the Legionnaires with keeping the Pat Stapleton Arena alive. In fact, because the team drew such huge crowds in the 2008–09 season, city council decided to put in new seating, higher glass and to repair the roof. There had been talk of tearing the building down, but that disappeared after the '09 Legionnaires drew more than 50,000 fans to their games. While used primarily for ice hockey, it is also used for skating lessons, public skating sessions, the circus, high school graduation ceremonies, and other special events. Until McMorran Place in Port Huron, Michigan was built in 1960, it was the Blue Water region's primary concert venue.The Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League played at the arena briefly in the mid-1990s while the Progressive Auto Sales Arena (Formally the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre) was under construction. The arena was not large enough to host the OHL team permanently, and the Sting were only allowed to move to Sarnia on the condition that a new arena be built.In January 1957 the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL played an exhibition game at the Sarnia Arena against the Legionnaires. The Hawks won, but the Sarnia Jr. 'B' team got six goals. In 2021, the Sarnia Arena was renamed Pat Stapleton Arena after the late Pat Stapleton.
