Hoe Rough

Beetley and Hoe Meadows is an 11.4-hectare (28-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Dereham in Norfolk, United Kingdom. The site is in two nearby areas, and Hoe Meadow is part of Hoe Rough nature reserve, which is managed by the Norfolk Wildlife TrustThis site is described by Natural England as "one of the finest remaining areas of wet unimproved grassland in Norfolk". It is traditionally managed by summer grazing, with plants such as glaucous Sedge and bog pimpernel in marshy parts and blunt-flowered rush and carnation sedge in permanently wet areas.Hoe Rough is open to the public.

Beetley is a village and civil parish in the Breckland district of Norfolk, England. According to the 2011 census the parish had a population of 1,396. The village is situated four miles (6 km) north of East Dereham.

Dillington Carr is a 55-hectare (140-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Dereham in Norfolk.This valley in a tributary of the River Wensum has extensive irrigation reservoirs and areas of carr woodland. An outstanding variety of birds breed on the site, including gadwalls, great crested grebe and tufted ducks on the reservoirs and barn owls, lesser spotted woodpeckers and willow tit in the woodland.The site is private land with no public access.

Hoe is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hoe and Worthing, situated in Norfolk. The parish of Hoe and Worthing covers an area of 925 hectares (2,290 acres), with an estimated population of 219 at the 2001 census, increasing to 241 at the 2011 Census. For local government purposes it falls within the Elmham and Mattishall Division of Norfolk County Council and the Lincoln Ward of Breckland District Council. The village lies 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Beetley, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of Swanton Morley and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) by road north from Dereham. It is served by St Andrew's Church in the Dereham and District Team Ministry Benefice. The nave was rebuilt in 1794 and the chancel in 1820.

Dereham Rush Meadow is a 22.2-hectare (55-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Dereham in Norfolk.This is an area of grassland and alder carr in the valley of a tributary of the River Wensum. The site has diverse habitats and it is traditionally maintained by grazing by horses. It is subject to flooding in winter.The site is private land with no public access.

Gressenhall is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The villages name origin is uncertain possibly 'Grassy nook of land' or 'gravelly nook of land'. It covers an area of 10.53 km2 (4.07 sq mi) and had a population of 1,008 in 443 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 1,050 in 459 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. The village is on the River Nar close to Dereham in Norfolk.

Northgate High School, formerly Northgate High School and Dereham Sixth Form College, is an academy situated in Dereham, Norfolk, England. It is a co-educational comprehensive school, for ages 11–18. It is one of two high schools in the town.

Dereham (), historically also known as East Dereham, is a town and civil parish in the Breckland District of the English county of Norfolk. It is situated on the A47 road, about 15 miles (25 km) west of the city of Norwich and 25 miles (40 km) east of King's Lynn. The civil parish has an area of 21.51 km2 (8.31 sq mi) and, in the 2001 census, had a population of 15,659 in 6,941 households; the population at the 2011 census increased to 18,609. Dereham falls within, and is the centre of administration for, Breckland District Council. The town should not be confused with the Norfolk village of West Dereham, which lies about 25 miles (40 km) away. Since 1983, Dereham has been twinned with the town of Rüthen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is also twinned with Caudebec-lès-Elbeuf, France. In spite of the reunification of Germany in 1990, the sign on the A47 at the entrance to Dereham from the Swaffham direction still refers to Rüthen being in West Germany; this sparks periodic comment in the local press.

Mitford and Launditch Rural District was a rural district in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1974.It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Mitford and Launditch rural sanitary district, taking its name from the two ancient hundreds of Mitford and Launditch. It completely encircled East Dereham Urban District. The district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 and became part of the Breckland district. Its boundaries never changed during its 80 year existence.

Dereham railway station is currently the northern terminus of the Mid-Norfolk Railway, a heritage line that operates services to Wymondham Abbey. It is located in the town of Dereham, in the English county of Norfolk.
